I have a 96 BMW Z 3 Roadster. Forever I took my car to the delaership because I was hesitant about taking my car anywhere else. About a year ago my car was due for a inspection II and I called my dealership to ask them how much it would be and what it included. When they told me the price I was floored. I started doing a bunch of research and came to the BMW owners forum. Through reading posts there I learned that one of the things that the dealership told me I was going to need to have done as part of my inspection II was not even possible on my car (i.e. my aircabin filter cannot be replaced becasue my car does not have one). After reading hundreds of posts I saw so many people saying that when they had problems that the delearship could not figure out that they brought their car to Coast Motor Werk. I said that is where I needed to go. I took my car there for the inspection II and they did a full inspection of my car. They found out other things that needed attention, but instead of trying to push me to have them all done at once, they went through the list and told me what things were critical and what things could wait. I will be taking my car there forever now. I only wish I had found these guys sooner as I would have saved a lot of money compared to the delearship.

Ron and the crew over there are on the level. They are extremely knowledgeable and have a deep pool of experience; including many former BMW factory mechanics who were looking for a shop where they could actually practice their craft and not be relegated to fluid and filter change monkeys (guys that enjoy the challenge of wrenching great motoring machines.) The prices are most always better than the dealership and youll receive a far more personable touch from guys that care about your car. That said, lets also be real here, If you drive a BMW and have to ask, "How much?" ...you probably should be driving something else that comes from Japan. Quality and pride of ownership isnt free. These guys will make it as manageable as possible when it comes to the bill, however, you must understand that they must pay to keep the "talent" in the garage. The garage is always full, especially on Fridays, but I believe that is more a positive reflection on their dedication to their business and expertise. Not a good feeling to roll up to a shop that has their mechanics just standing around... right? -A customer for Life. BMW (E60) 550i

First I must admit, CMW has a beautiful shop. Everything about it looks nice. This helped me make my decision to go here for some work I needed done on my BMW. Upon dropping the car off I felt taken care of, they said it could be done before the weekend! (were talking a big job here btw). From that point on, I felt shafted. Every time they said theyd call me, they didnt and I had to call them. I eventually had to go down there and pick up the car myself because they had taken a week longer than they said they would, and I needed my car badly (only car). They didnt have a bill drafted so I payed them a large downpayment and they said theyd send me a bill later to finish the payment. About a month later I got the bill, and they had charged me $300 to change the upper timing chain cover gasket?? Did I ask for that? No!!! I would definitely recommend this shop if your BMW is not your only car, and if you have deep pockets. But my BMW is my Daily Driver and weekend car, and Im a college student. I felt that I was taken advantage of, and the large portion of the work was not what I wanted.

Knowledgeable. Friendly. Professional. Worth it. Although my car only had 15k miles on it, I thought I heard a squeaking noise when I pressed the clutch in. I called Brad (at the Irvine location), who told me I could bring it in the next morning. When I came in, I met Derek who patiently drove in circles around the parking lot with me in the car, listening for the sound. Derek was even kind enough to put my car up on the mounts and took a look at its underside to make sure there wasnt anything abnormal. I didnt have to wait to be helped, I was spoken to as an adult (not like a young girl) and both Derek and Brad earned my trust. They didnt charge me for the time it took to look at my car either, which I would have happily paid. Ive since had my oil changed, purchased tires, and had an alignment. The prices are fair, the service is excellent, and my mind doesnt need to second guess their work (I could get free service from a friend who is a mechanic, an uncle who fixes cars, and a friend of my relative who has his own shop). I recommend them to everyone I know with a BMW.

George and the whole shop were a friendly group of people. I brought my e36 in for a new alternator and they had it fixed in no time. Also they threw in a free full-point inspection that led them to finding that my wheel bearing was in bad shape causing my car to vibrate, which I thought was an alignment issue. I took the car into the dealership a month prior to get Check Engine Light situated and the dealership didnt tell me about my wheel bearing in the full-point inspection that I paid for... George explained the severity of the situation and he had me back on the road the next day. Now the car is running smoother than ever and is far more enjoyable without the vibrations. Thanks George I will be coming back in the future because Coast Motor Werk is less expensive than the dealer and more thorough in its work.

After 10 years of using my local BMW dealer for service, my 740iL reached the 100K milestone. My local BMW dealer provided a "less than satisfying" recommendation on maintenance procedures, so I researched options for independent BMW service/maintenance and found CMW. I talked to Ron on the phone about my situation and found him to be knowledgable and reassuring. I elected to have CMW perform very comprehensive service on the car at 100K, which was about 30% less expensive than the dealers estimated cost; and have been entrusting the car to them for the past 4 years. They have performed flawlessly: highest quality work; "reasonable" prices - it is a BMW; and always with a smile and signs of appreciation. I have recommended them to others; with complete satisfaction.

Coast Motor Werks is a very respectable, clean, honest place to do business. The shop is pristine, Ron, the owner I believe, is very honest and will not scare you into getting something repaired like they love to do at the BMW dealerships. He is a hardworking, honest guy who understands people who are living on a budget. I recently took my BMW 325ci for maintenance and although my bill came to 2000 dollars to do several repairs and maintenance items, it was only half of what they told me needed to be done at Long Beach BMW, where I had recently taken the car for a check up. I dont trust Long Beach BMW anymore, but will only take my car to Ron from now on. It is much more convenient for me anyway. This is my mechanic from now on.
