I went here because of the positive google reviews but was very confused about all the hype after my experience. Im not here to knock anyone nor do I really ever write negative reviews, but when it comes to messing with my hair, well thats a different story. The place is a bit scuffed up and unkept looking. Not disgusting by any means. Decorated with colors like hot pink, rhinestones, and cliche dorm room posters- but fine who cares. The woman who did my hair however was not exactly pleasant. After accidentally tangling (and I mean tangling) my hair in her round brush for a third time while trying to blow dry my hair curly (curly for whatever reason?), I asked in a very polite manner if she could please blow dry the rest straight. She stopped, glared at me, and told me with an offended attitude that "she was doing me a favor because she had all of these other keratin treatments waiting but that she still chose to blow dry my hair this way." Whoa. Ok then. My bad. Super awkward the rest of the time which wasnt very long as it was the shortest, most rushed haircut Ive ever been a part of. All of this would have been forgotten shortly thereafter but no. No, because every time I look at my hair in the mirror (2 weeks later) I feel a little sad inside. When I had asked for a trim, she decided that meant full creative freedom to take a ton of length off and remove a huge extra chunk out of the front of my hair. What once was all of my hair at the same length, now is a giant square section missing- cut out in a nearly straight line across my face (see picture). Were these supposed to be "angles"? I think I recall her referring to them angles. I dont remember requesting those. And frankly these just look like one giant 90 degree angle. Now, Im no princess. I have been pretty satisfied with every haircut Ive ever received in the past, but this just looks weird. 2 stars for my not so friendly experience and for stealing a necessary chunk of my hair that should still be attached to my head. Good riddance.

My hairdresser was out of town and after spending 2 very humid summers in NYC and 2 very humid weeks in the west indies I was at wits end with my thick, wavy, frizzy, read: extremely unmanageable and bushy hair. I was used to the dry arid climate of so cal where I rarely had to deal with humidity so it did what I liked, without much product at all. And, the thought of wearing it with lots of hair products and gel like I did in the 90s to embrace the wave and curl seemed like too much work now. I like to wash n go, and I dont like to wash my hair every day. So, I decided to give this keratin Brazillian blow out treatment a try. My hairdressers salon in Chelsea charges upwards of $350 for this procedure, so I looked on Groupon and found Hairbar NYC. But, before purchasing the Groupon I decided to call them. The gal on the phone was super nice. She told me theyd accommodate my schedule as I mentioned I needed it done before leaving town. She also told me not to buy the Groupon and gave me an even better deal on the phone!!! She said my appointment was with Bebe. Not knowing what to expect I went. Bebe was super nice. She explained the whole process to me. Basically I cant wash my hair for 24 hours, but ideally 72 hours, nor should I even get it wet. She encouraged me to also put heat to my hair after sleeping and before washing either with a flat iron or blowdryer. When I left the salon my hair was super soft and super straight, straighter than its been in years. I did as she said, and 3 days later I washed it. I was a little skeptical that this was just like a regular blow out, I mean for the price it seemed to good to be true, but true to their word, after I washed it, my hair is still 90% more straight and frizz free than it usually is! My blow dry time was also significantly less! Bebe says this could last me about 5 months. Ive read online this could last anywhere from 8-10 weeks. Either way, I will definitely be going back to Hair Bar NYC and Bebe to get this done again, for sure!

Gina Cohen (spelling?) is my girl!!!! I love her and I love this place. They constantly have a Groupon-like deal going, so you can just walk in and get your hair done for the price of a Groupon deal. What I dont like usually about the Groupon deals is that you can only go once for the discounted price, but I was looking for a Salon I would see consistently. They charge me between $100-$140 for my Keratin depending on how long my hair is. The staff makes you feel like youve been friends with them forever. Beyond just the staff, the Keratin product is GREAT. They use their own brand so you wont find it elsewhere. Its STRONG so beware if you have sensitive eyes or lungs, but it gets the job done. They also sell their own branded shampoos, conditioners, masques, etc. Their keratin in my hair lasts forever, whereas most other salons I go to it washes out within 1 month, which is very frustrating. Gina also lets me do a touchup on just my hairline, which is perfect for those awkward in-betweens. The last time I went I got color with her done as well, which was of course great. She is a one-stop shop! I also go to the Madison Ave location sometimes as well, she works part time there. Feel free to message me with any questions, Ive also attached photos!

OMG!!!! I LOVE this place!! I hate going to get my hair done because I feel like it is a long boring process which takes forever. But not anymore!!! It took me a while to find a salon that had stylists that genuinely care about you and the health of your hair. As soon as I walk in to Hair Bar on Kenmare Street, I am greeted in a friendly manner as well as offered a cold beverage. The salon has an upbeat atmosphere and is EXTREMELY clean. The music and service is so good here that I forget that Im at a salon. In addition to an amazing atmosphere and friendly presence, the stylists definitely know what they are doing when it comes to hair. My hair was curly, dry and brittle, I got the keratin treatment and my hair NEVER looked better. The stylist, Bebe, who applied the procedure was very knowledgeable and helpful before and after the application of the keratin. I feel safe knowing that my hair is in her hands as well as the other stylists at Hair Bar on Kenmare Street. I walk out of this salon looking amazing EVERY SINGLE TIME. No one cant tell me nothing once that happens lol.....thanks to Hair Bar on Kenmare Street.

Ive been coming to Hair Bar for 3 years and I have never been dissatisfied or disappointed with the results!! This is my one stop for all my hair care needs. Today I got the Silk Touch, a haircut and style. My hair looks fab!! Coming back in 2 weeks to have my color by G & C touch up with Brittney!! Shes a fantastic Colorist!! I come in and give her full range with my hair!! Shes that good!!! I introduced my daughter to Hair Bar too. Shes now coming for all her hair needs as well. The best thing about Hair Bar, besides the fact that all the hairstylist are great at what they do, is that everyone here cares about making you look great! They treat you like family and always make sure you leave totally happy with your results!!! I cant imagine ever going anywhere else!!!
