First of all I spent 40 years traveling the globe and I had one bad hair experience during the Viet-Nam era in Saigon. Most of the other haircuts and styling were not memorable and uneventful. When I first discovered the hair event I realized what I had been missing. Zaharia Bala is a true artist and sculpturer. I looked in the mirror and he made me look like a supreme court judge. I have now been going to his salon for 7 years. I am 75 and with a heart condition, I do not drive. I take two buses and a total of 1 hour 45 minutes to get to his salon. I feel he is world class and the best there is. Others feel the same way. A famous opera tenor and a doctor from San Francisco make it a point to only use the Hair Event for their styling. I read a review where someone complemented his playing Italian music during their session. It is actually Romanian in nature and is always interesting and happy. So is Zaharia interesting, happy and cordial. When you enter the salon he actually lights up and treats you like a loong lost relative from the old country. You know he is honestly happy to be able to style your hair. I have watched customers as they leave the salon and they are always pleased, look wonderful, and look younger. His front door is always open as a greeting to those who approach. Zaharia is totally dedicated to his art and I have never seen him in a bad mood or his salon closed. John L. Sands

Very good Father - Daughter team here! Im very pleased with the service I received here today as well as a few months ago when I first discovered this Salon. It appears to be a barber shop at first as it was full of men but I was lead into the back room where the daughter of the nice man works. She listened carefully to what I said I wanted done, highlights and more layers. She took her time and did a great job. She even blew it dry and curled it for me for no extra charge. All of that for only $60. Ive paid much more at other salons for much less! And I love how my hair looks! I also overheard how pleased the men were with their cuts when I walked out to have my hair washed. I recommend this salon for both men and women. I drive from Long Beach to come here and its worth it.

Honestly the worst haircut Ive ever received. 1) the dressing cape didnt cover my arms so I collected all the hair on my shoulders and forearms. 2) the guy is blind and cant see the lines he leaves in your fade. 3) he offered me a "special deal" for students of $10. IT SAYS $10 ON THE WINDOW!!! 4) he left so much hair on my neck I had to buzz it myself. Dont go!

After working with the same stylist for over 10 years, she retired and i had to find someone new. Having naturally curly hair, its not so easy to find a good stylist. I have been a client of Hair Event for a few years now...He always knows exactly what I want and I am now sending all my friends and family who have curly hair and those who dont to go there!

I could say a lot, describing the experience and my frustration with my past hair cuts, but instead I will simply say; it was a excellent experience and a excellent hair cut. I honestly have no idea why it wasnt crowed. It was also very reasonably priced. This guy literally only has two bad reviews.

I have gone to Hair Event for more than 10 years and plan to continue doing so for as long as Im around. Simply put: Ive gotten the best haircuts at the best prices bar none. I always get compliments on my cuts, and Zaharia, the barber, is the reason why. One of the great bargains around.

I have a very lumpy skull, and I like short haircuts. Mr. Z is the only person with the skill to give me a clean haircut that doesnt reveal the funky contours of my head. Much respect. Also he is super friendly and SO EXCITED to see you every time.
