I had pretty high expectations for this place considering all the great reviews. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. Lets start off on a good note though despite them messing up my name 3 different times... Here are the pros: - open later than most places - relatively easy to get an appointment Now on to the disappointments: - I paid for the signature haircut and thought that a wash and conditioning was included, but never got one. Ill take part of the responsibility for this as I shouldve spoken up and asked, but I think the barber should have also asked instead of just immediately putting the product into my hair and finishing me off - the barber started cutting my hair without washing the product out of my hair first. Is this a thing? - 30 mins on my side fades. Im not an expert on this, but I know Ive had better fades in less time. I swear the guy just kept going over the same spot for a good 5 mins, perhaps because he didnt know what to do next or something. - was I supposed to get a beer?!?! Never got one, was never asked about one. Is the lack of service something to be expected here? All in all, I thought this was a rather dismal experience, especially for $40. If youre going to advertise your services as a "luxury experience", then people should at the very least get the full range of services that theyre paying for, not to mention decent customer service that includes not butchering their name (I have two letters to my name, its not that hard, especially after Ive repeated it 3 times over). So, with all that said, thanks, but no thanks. I wont be returning.

$50 HAIRCUT! & hair is uneven, face/cheeks are still covered with hair, APPARENTLY HERE, its extra for YOUR beard and other facial hair to be cut, trimmed or touched IN GENERAL. ill never return, literally the worst experience Ive ever had in life on earth. for starters, the barber I was scheduled with was verbally rude with "sarcastic" remarks, which should have been my first sign to vacate. Secondly, Even though i was advised he specialized in my hair after brief discussion about my basic needs concerning my cut, he pleaded others around the shop to cut me INSTEAD. which made me feel more comfortable initially, however it turned out MUCH more worst than I expected. FOR the price they charge youd think these people are more personable when servicing YOU however youll see very soon after walking in, haircuts are not the main concern. Ive had better HAIRCUTS from barber Students in college. unless you want to be leaving looking how you walked in, dont even consider this place. best part was the beer they offer but I mean, for the UPSELL, thats the least they can do for you

Honestly, was from out of town, the first Barber didnt cut a flat top, so they got someone who was working reception to cut my hair. There was a bald spot just over my ear, I wasnt edged out, he didnt listen to what I wanted for my length...I wanted only half an inch left and I got over two inches. He thought I wanted a high top, something completely different. The fade didnt blend properly...I could go on. I am a barber from out of town, and think that this experience goes to show what this shop is about...$$$ over service. The established barbers were doing good work though, and the people were kind. The haircut, however, was one of the worst Ive had in recent years. I had to recut it myself, just so that I could walk down the street with my head up. And I wasnt the only one there that didnt get a good service. There was another gentleman waiting for a simple skin to 2 fade that he had gotten which didnt blend properly. So...if you want precision work, know your barber here, or perhaps check out somewhere else.

Got my first hair cut here today and I must say Im very impressed. Im very picky when it comes to getting my hair cut not just any baber can cut my hair. When I walked in they asked me if I had an appointment. I said no, they told me they had an opening at 3pm and sure enough when I returned at 3pm they were able to seat me with Luis. I have to say Luis is by far one of the best babers that has cut my hair. (Granted I keep my hair very simple. With a .5 hair cut and a line up.) I asked him how would I be able to grow my beard out and make it look clean. He told me to trim it down a little bit and line up the beard every once and a while. Long story short if you have a beard and want to maintaine it go to Luis. Hes great! Only down side to this place is that its very expensive, but like I always say you get what you paid for and what I paid for today was excellent service and a excellent hair cut.

Had a face and head shave with Za Za... what a great experience. The shop is immaculate, smells fresh and clean, his station was immaculate.... he spent a good long time massaging and relaxing me before and after the shave. His touch with the razor was feather light... a real pro. He finished with a little bay rum and some talc. One of the nicest most pleasant experiences I’ve had... if this is what women fee like getting mani’s and pedi’s, I understand. Please keep in mind for those reading this that I am a Barber by trade and this was one of the nicest places I’ve been in. Za Za was a great conversationalist and that made for a very pleasant experience. If I lived here I’d be a regular!

Excellent barber shop. The staff are all amazing. Service is prompt, to the point, and still very welcoming with high standards. They offer you a drink when you arrive (including beer, whiskey and more), have doughnuts Sunday mornings, and reasonable prices compared to other San Francisco barbershops. Also, online booking system makes this place a breeze to schedule or reschedule. Michael Casias is my guy. Chill. Does what I like while offering opinions and suggestions. Remembers me and our conversations. Highly recommend this shop - Polk St location. Havent been to the Mission one.

Dependable to keeping me looking presentable year-round. Solid barbers and on the one occasion I got a bad haircut (left side fade was off from right), I came in the next day and was seen in under 30mins to get it cleaned up AND the barber didnt charge for that clean-up (obvs), but also compd me for the next time I was there. They understand the importance of having a good barber-client relationship. Also, the complimentary bourbon/coffee/beer or donuts (on the weekends) dont hurt either... unless were talking about waistlines. Highly recommend.

$38 might seem like a lot for a haircut, but trust me when I say its worth it. Peoples Barber is well... the barber shop for the people. All the barbers that Ive had have been incredibly friendly and charming and arent pretentious like some of the other places you might go to get your haircut in San Francisco. With your haircut, youre also treated to a beverage of your choosing from coffee to a Sierra Nevada IPA. The best part of the experience is the hot towel treatment at the end. It always leaves me feeling like a million bucks!

I have been going to this barber ever since I moved to the city 3 years ago. For those 3 years only one man has cut my hair. That would be David. David is great, professional, fast, and efficient. He isnt afraid to crack a joke or put himself out there and this type of personality is what makes Peoples Barbershop so great. Oh and a drink while waiting is pretty fantastic too. But its the company your with which really matters. Go to Peoples, grab a beer, and see David. You wont regret it.
