Took an unusually long time to change my oil, did not advise me it was busy, and did not update me. Inside they seem a bit unorganized, overwhelmed, and distracted. I went here early in the morning, about 9:30am. It did not seem unusually busy, and an employee loaded my car into an empty bay right away. The waiting area was very nice. It was clean, had free k-cup coffee, big screen with cable, device charging bays, and free wifi. An hour passed by while I sat in their (very nice) waiting area. I went to the front desk to get an idea on how long it would be. The manager was very courteous to me verbally... he looked out the window to the shop floor bays and said "I will get you in 5 minutes". He then opens up the door to the shop floor and starts yelling out questions and instructions. I went and sat back down in the waiting area. Around 15 or 20 minutes later, the manager called my name... the car was ready! He had a printout of services to try to upsel me on (belt replacements, etc) which I indulged him in: I asked him for some the prices and he told me. He then asked if I wanted to go ahead and do that right now, and I told him no, but thanks for giving me the prices. Suddenly, after another employee yelled over at him, the manager told me he didnt have time to check me out... he got distracted and started talking back to the employee, and picked up the phone. I was told to move to another register (all my paperwork was already sprawled onto the one I was at). Then the manager and employee had a confused yelling back and forth to each other about how to make my account appear on the new register. Once that was resolved, the cashier started talking to me but suddenly interrupted me... he said "Hold on a second, please". He took a phone call! The way he took the phone call was not quick..., he had some extremely long thing he said like "thank you for calling pep boys where we are offering a [something something something] kind of deal for the [something something something] and we do [something something something] for only [something something something]. Oh hi is this [some persons name]? ok hold on".... Then the cashier yelled across the room again and stepped away from my register and talked to manager for a second, then came back. It was only after all this that I was finally able to pay my bill and drive away. To summarize my checkout experience: the manager and cashier were both very courteous with the choices of phrases and sentences they used, but pretty darn rude in HOW they actually interacted with me. An end summary? I waited way too long for something that should have been quick without being informed they were unusually busy; the manager and employees dont seem to be aware that their distracted behavior was needlessly prolonging the checkout process.

Carlos Delgudo and Manuel Darian were my La-La Land Angels! Last weekend I was driving from San Diego to Berkeley. Saturday morning I went to a Pep Boys in Encinitas and Grant the front desk guy was a delight. My battery had died and after my pal jumped me I was able to get to the shop right when it opened. I left Encinitas for the next leg of my trip – LA Baby. After a fun day with friends in Montrose, they walked me to my car and it was dead...Again! We tried to jump it. The first AAA guy tried to jump it. The second AAA guy who came with a tow truck tried to get it to start, nothing. So At midnight, we left it in the Pep Boys parking lot in Tujunga. Once again when they opened at 9 am, the second day in a row, I was at a Pep Boys. Carlos the manager came out to speak to me next to my dead car as soon as he unlocked the front doors. He assured me that he would squeeze me into his busy Sunday schedule, his mechanic would do a diagnosis of the problem, and we would figure out how to proceed from there. Needless to say, by this point I was worried, sleep deprived, and had to step up the faith that all was in Divine Order. Carlos had no idea of the financial straights I was facing if there was a problem. He just new I needed help and wanted to provide that help. My friend had to go to work so I took my laptop and my Starbucks and settled into their cool waiting area. The flat screen TV, leather chairs, additional coffee if I wanted it, was comfort. I did not know if I would be able to get to Berkeley to start a new job the next day. I have lived on a wing and prayer as they say for some time. I had no problem plunking the $176 down Sat AM for a brand new battery, but I had no idea how my $200 that was left in my checking account (no I do not have credit cards), was going to cover the problem with my car and the gas I needed to get to the Bay Area. Manuel came to chat with me able my Sebrings Saga. He assured me that he would figure it out. After just short of a hour, Carlos came to tell me the car was working fine. A fuse had blown and he was going to take the hit so there would be no cost to me. OMG as we say these days! Once again my faith, listening to my intuition, trusting that the experts and my friends would help, and not getting angry at Pep Boys got me going forward. Though I did not have to pay for the fuse and Manuels time, I promised that I would give them a 5 Star review on Yelp and Google because, darn it, they were my miracle last Sunday. Keep that good juju going Pep Boys Everywhere! Thanks from my dancing heart!

Took over 3 hour after telling us it was gonna be an hour. Did not let us know it was gonna take longer until late over an hour into the work. Fix your timing estimate. Maybe if the.manager did not have to go yell at the employees that there are cars to work on stop smoking and get to work things would get done on time.
