I dont condone laziness and that is why I wont be back to this barbershop again. I needed an emergency haircut to look nice for a site visit from the president of my company tomorrow. Its been a crazy week at work getting ready for this site visit and I wasnt able to get in to the shop until 7:36pm. As I walked in I saw two barbers getting ready to leave for the day (even though Proper advertises they dont close till 8pm) as I asked "could someone please fit in one last haircut before closing?" The three barbers (one of which was cutting someones hair) looked at each other before one exclaimed that they were just about to close and dont have the time. My hair is not difficult to cut, it usually takes about 15-25 minutes to trim and thin. I live within a few blocks from Tennyson street and love the area. I have been to Proper before and have gotten some pretty good cuts with some good people. However, this experience just showed me that Proper doesnt have great customer service and doesnt care about me, so I will be taking my business to one of the other many barbershops on Tennyson Street.

Hands down the best place for a cut in Denver. The guys there know how to make you and your hair look exactly the way you want. I have been twice in the last month and after both cuts I have had countless compliments on how nice my hair looks (from the ladys and randoms as well). If you are new to Denver and looking for a barber shop to become a loyal customer with, Proper is the place. They also just started doing walk-ins, so if youre not the appointment type, just show up, get on the list, and wait while "reading" Playboy, or one of their other male-friendly magazines. I recommend Proper over all other "barber shops" in Denver. From the great staff to the old-school barber chairs and the way clients face each other to promote the conversations of the old style barber shops, Proper is classy, modern, and the only place you need to go for a haircut. They are also beard trimming experts, so if a shave is what you are looking for, they have you covered.

Ive never had a haircut I havent been happy with from them. I go to see Shane Simmons regularly, and I enjoy his company, as well as the friendly atmosphere. The prices are great, and quite frankly, they could get away with charging more for the quality they deliver every single time, without fail. Hell, Im hard pressed to say Ive ever seen ANYONE come out of there not looking a few notches better than when they arrived. Its also worth noting that my wife approves as well; there is a considerable uptick in the compliments she gives me after I get my hair cut. Thats right, gentlemen: if you spend your money at Proper Barbershop, ladies will find you absolutely irresistible. In the event that you are into gentlemen, well... its hard to call this place anything other than a "male model factory" so if thats something youre agreeable too, have at it.

Called at 5:40. Receptionist told me they did walk-ins until 7PM. My GPS said 35 minutes to get there from the tech center. Away I went! Denver traffic happened and after an hour drive I still arrived at 6:43. They said they would not let me do a walk in because the current customer would take until 7PM. When you tell someone that you do walk-ins until 7PM, in my mind, that means if you get there before the specified time, you should be able to get a haircut. Despite the distance that this shop is from both my work and home, I wanted to try it because of good reviews, but it is not worth the trek for a place that does not keep their word. The rest of the reviews say they do a good job, but I wont find out because of their unwillingness to service customers.

I tried this barbershop because I moved and didnt want to make the long drive to my old barbershop, and plus it had 4 stars.. Not the best at all, I would not recommend this place for guys who like to get real sharp and clean haircuts... I didnt get lined up and cleaned up around the ear and sideburns. Def not worth a $30 haircut. I guess Ill keep going to my old barbershop in south Denver where Ill get a more crisp fade for $20. RECOMMEND CO reeds on Mississippi and wads.

This place is awesome. Great feel to the place and very friendly staff. You feel like youre walking into a cross between a good pub, tattoo parlor and an old time barber shop. The guys really know what theyre doing, and they take their time and get it right. They also let you schedule a free touch-up after your haircut. $25 for a haircut might sound expensive, but they could charge twice that and it would still be worth every penny. Definitely try this place out.

The 1st time I walked into Proper my hair had been growing for over a year -- partially for fun, partially because in 6 previous years in Denver I hadnt found a barber that I felt like going back to much more than once. That was 2 years ago and Ive been going back to Proper on a monthly basis since then. Jordan and his crew run a comfortable shop driven by customer service. Theyre skilled and actually CARE about the job they do -- thats pretty cool in my book.

Great haircuts but terrible service. Been going to proper name nice a month for well over a year. made an appointment a month ago but my barber quit a week ago. Was told nothing and had to drive in terrible road conditions only to be told that I got a call the day before at noon... There was no call in my history nor a voicemail. Very unprofessional.

Ive gotten my hair cut by AJ and Mason at this location and every time I have come away happy. The price is a little more than your typical place but this is a "Barber"shop not a Great Clips so its expected, and boy is it worth it. I used to have awful hair, but now Ive tried multiple styles at AJs design and I get compliments all the time!

Classic mens haircuts at reasonable prices from barbers who know how to cut hair. Relaxed atmosphere. Located near some great cafes, bars, and restaurants on Tennyson. Great music, great staff, great haircuts. Avoid the franchises and salons in disguise. There is no sugar coating it, Proper Barbershop is barbering done properly.

Shane is awesome! I went in not really knowing what to do with my hair after growing it out and having an undercut, and he gave me an awesome haircut! I also got the exact beard trim I was looking for! Truly great experience all around. Id send anyone and everyone looking for friendly, awesome service here without a doubt!

Recently renovated, the ambiance is clean and hip—quite like the Tennyson Street area itself. The staff is clean and friendly. The quality of the haircuts is top notch and reasonably priced. I definitely recommend making an appointment, as they are frequently busy and it seems like I see a lot of people turned down.

Great spot for hip, affordable grooming. Im not a big fan of the new setup with the stools in the front for waiting tho. They just suck to sit on if you have to wait more than a few minutes. Overall cant really complain though. I go every few weeks and am always pretty happy with the cut, and the atmosphere is chill.
