I do not normally take the time to write reviews but after 13 years attending and benefiting from the talented, friendly and affordable teachers and lessons at this renovated studio, it is the least I can do to show my gratitude for their patience and ability to make a dancer out of me!! I had always thought of myself as ungraceful and clumsy but I had always wanted to learn the Country Two Step so one year after my late husband passed away from a terminal illness I called them up for my first lesson. I was introduced to many other ballroom dance styles: Latin, Smooth etc. and it became my therapy for the next couple of years. I even occasionally wept through some of my lessons with my instructor at the time while waltzing around the floor! The weekly practice sessions, the beginner classes, the twice monthly dances, became my refuge. My 8 year old son started coming with me and learned cha cha, swing etc. and other dancers would ask to dance with him. It is a very family friendly environment. Over my now 13 years of attending this studio, I have had the privilege of watching many people show up at the front desk, claiming that they have two left feet, and within a short time with these talented and patient instructors these same people get mistaken for professionals at local lounges or weddings. I have seen MANY married men cave and give their wife the 4 lesson package for a gift and then get hooked on it and want to continue. They are right across the street from the old Cafe Chocolat and welcome visitors climbing the stairs and seating on the periphery to watch for however long you can stay while you decide for yourself if its it something you want to do. If its something youve been wanting to do put keep procrastinating on PLEASE come by ASAP!!

This is the worst place you could go to take ballroom dance lessons. The floor is small, the teachers are limited in their knowledge and ability to teach. The area has a smell that emanates from the rotting river behind it or the sewers, or maybe the trash in the area. The regulars that go there are NOT friendly. They are in fact hostile. Not just rude, but outright hostile to new people. It is NOT a learning environment. You will feel uncomfortable, and unsafe. The Regulars will stand on the sidelines and make catty remarks about you. If you have any dancing ability at all, they will be jealous as if their territory is being invaded. I took lessons there and had money stolen from my purse while I was taking the lesson. There is a bar just half a block away that attracts bikers and hookers. The cops are useless and dont protect people because they want to keep up the facade of no crime in the area, so they dont do anything. This was a horrible experience. Do Not Go there. I think the instructors HIGHLY overrate their experience. I dont think they have much experience at all or ability for that matter. I think they can teach beginners at the most. Nothing more. I dont think they are even capable of teaching you to dance just for a wedding. Nope. I think youd make a fool of yourself taking their lessons for your wedding.

I have been going to this studio for over three years. I have been a ballroom dancer for 16 years. I love this studio. I am not by any means a professional. Im not even an advanced dancer even though I have danced for so long. Whats great about Downtown Dance Studio is that it doesnt matter whether you are a mere beginner, seasoned dancer or somewhere in the middle. This studio welcomes you with wide open arms. And, there are classes for each and every skill level with competent and patient instructors. The studio hosts fun themed dance parties every month. I have been to a Pirate and Wench Party, a Redneck Party and a Lady In Red Valentines Party. There are other holiday parties too. At the parties people are very friendly and there are usually plenty of people to dance with. Since I am a single lady, this is very important to me. I am particularly happy with the studio owner. She is so encouraging to everyone. Its very clear that she loves dance and she loves to help others bring out that love for it too. If youre looking for a good place to learn everything from Waltz to Cha Cha and even some newer dances in a beautiful studio, you have got to try Downtown Dance Studio.

The Downtown Dance Studio is one of the hidden gems of Brevard County. The studio has a friendly atmosphere, and the instructors are as good as any youll find in Melbourne or Orlando. LaDonna and Louis are superb at focusing on technique for intermediate and advanced dancers, and Darlene is great at helping beginners learn the basic footwork and timing. The studio even has instructors with in-depth knowledge of specialized dances like the Argentine tango. In addition to the studios regular dance events, it holds special parties where beginners can practice what theyve learned without feeling intimidated.

Love the people and the facility. We are snow birds and it is always such a please to come back and pick up where we left off. Thank you for being here. The person who panned it is obviously not a very nice person, who thinks they know it all, not.
