This review is a little hard to write because I have very mixed feelings about this caterer. Tropical Oasis was first on our list of possible caterers from seeing them on Wedding Wire. We finally decided on them because of a personal recommendation from a friend. We first got them booked by walking into their location in Belvidere and that first meeting was a pleasant one. Me and my father met with the owner Anthony and his wife Katie. They were both very pleasant, helpful, and informative. After that things went a little downhill..Anthony had given my his own work email to communicate through but whenever I sent them something they would take their own time getting back to me. I understood that they are busy people with a business to run which was okay. About a month before the wedding I emailed them our final head count and some last minute questions I needed a few answers to. I did not receive a response. Two weeks before the wedding I called their office phone several times before somebody answered. It was a bartender who did not know much of anything about the catering so she took my information and my final headcount down and said she would give them to Anthony. One week before the wedding I still had not heard anything from them after several phone calls, emails, and even putting in two information requests from their regular catering website. I finally got a call back from Katie who I guess took over the catering. (This was not told to me and therefore had the wrong contact email) As far as the day of the wedding went..it went amazingly!! The staff was very tentative and kind. They were quick to make sure everything was filled and our guests were happy. I have received endless compliments from our guests about the catering..more specifically the baked chicken breasts. All of the food was delicious but definitely get the baked chicken!! So to sum it up....The first meeting was great but then all contact from that point on was very stressful(being the bride), and lacked good communication from them but their service and their food the day of was impeccable!
