As the raters above note, this is an excellent barber shop, for men. The barbers are extremely experienced and highly skilled in conventional male haircuts, as well as highly personable. Theyll wile away your haircut time talking anything - politics, golf, baseball... Youll always walk away with a great haircut and straight-razor shave on the back of your neck, feeling like a million bucks. This would be a 5-star rating except for two things. First, its hard to get in here sometimes. Be absolutely certain to call ahead for an appointment. Walk-ins are accepted, but the joint is popular enough that youll often have to wait for a while if you do walk in! Also, it seems like the guys who run this place are sort-of doing it for the love of the profession at this point, which is awesome, but it also means that they shop will (rarely) close for a couple days unexpectedly, isnt open Monday or weekends, etc. Second, the prices are slightly steeper than what you can get comparable service for. I think the service here is the absolute best in town and am willing to pay the small premium, but you have to make that choice for yourself, obviously. N.b. that this is distinctively _not_ a hair salon - if you want dying, highlights, washes, etc. or if in general youre a woman or man with long hair (which is 100% fine with me – Ive never been a woman,but I did have long hair for years!) try somewhere else. Allure on the western edge of town is a good place for stuff like that.

Excellent classic barber shop. With the thickness of my hair and the type of cut I get, it usually takes a couple tries to dial in the length and location of the part. They are very patient and willing to take the time to get it right for me. The price is a bit more than Im used to paying for comparable shops, but I dont mind because they have very good attention to detail and I always come out satisfied. It also helps that there are two barbers, so things move a bit faster when there is a line. Also, their location is awesome too - very cool that it is in the old train station and right in downtown so I can walk (though there is parking in the area). Its a good idea to call ahead and make sure they are open before going - I cant recall exactly what days they are open but its not every day.

The best barber shop in the state of illinois i have been going there for 20 years. I highly recommend trying the place especially if you are a business professional. They even line you up with a straight razor so it is perfect and neat, who does that anymore?

A nice traditional barber shop. You can get a nice shave which just feels great. The guys will give you a nice conversation while they cut your hair which is nice. 20$ for a haircut, plus 9$ for the shave (at time of reviewing 2014), so a little expensive.

Great Atmosphere (for guys/boys)! Great Barbers. If youre a guy and get your hair styled then... ya this isnt the place for you.
