Great old fashioned barbershop! The proprietor is the only barber in the shop so wait times can get a little long on Saturdays, however you can always go next door to get a cup of coffee or a sandwich while you wait. Haircuts are given fairly quickly, but dont be surprised if your cut is interrupted by the mailman coming in, the barber stopping to wave to or even talk to passersby, or to share something from the newspaper. If youre concerned that this might take too long then youre in the wrong place. This is all part of the small town charm that makes shops like this a quickly fading treasure of a generation past. This shop is an Elgin institution and shouldnt be missed.

Central Barber Shop is a great place for a great haircut at a great price! Jerry is an old school barber and does an excellent job with mens haircuts. I have been a customer for over 12 years and Jerry does the best flat top Ive ever had. Jerry has raised his prices only once over the last 12 years from $8 to $10. He is also very accommodating and stays open until the last customer is done.

We heard about this shop last week from friends. Hard to believe it is still going! Husband went there about 70 + yrs. ago with his dad for all of his haircuts He plans on stopping in for a hair cut in sept. Just for old times sake. He has not been there sense the early `50`s. It used to be owned by Charlie the Barber in the fourtys and fiftys.

Jerrys a great barber, I come here as often as I can. I drive almost a half hour just because I dont have a barber shop by me, and it is THAT IMPORTANT to support local. Hes also open very early, and usually will come even earlier if you call.
