I want to love this place. I really really do. But Ive just had too many weird experiences there. Last time I called to make an appointment, the person who answered the phone couldnt do it and had to get someone else. Um, why are you answering the phone if you cant do basic stuff like that? She put a stylist on the phone to make an appointment with me, except she didnt tell the stylist why she was turning over the call, so the stylist was as confused as I was. I went for a haircut in the spring of 2009, and my stylist flat out told me that she was working at a mall salon the week before. Im all for "if you want a $10 haircut go to the mall salon," except here I was paying $50 for a haircut I could have paid $10 for the week before. Sure enough, the cut was bad. They did fix it for free a couple of days later, so Ill give them credit for that. My mom went for a cut, and halfway through, her stylist looked up and said, "I dont know how to finish this." A more senior stylist came and walked him through it. Oooookay. Her haircut came out great in the end, but again, theres a Regency Beauty School within walking distance where she could have paid $8 for someone to use her head for teaching. I did get a great cut last November from Madison. Im looking for something a little different this time and am really not sure whether to make an appointment here or not. Madison was good with my last cut. I hear Rodney is great (but have no idea how much hed cost, and he books 2 weeks in advance - not good for my last-minute self). I dont get my hair cut all that often, and I really hate spending big $$ unless Im pretty sure Im going to get my moneys worth. Ive been hemming and hawing over this for about 3 weeks now, and somehow I just cant bring myself to call. (if Id just called 3 weeks ago, i could have had my appointment with Rodney by now!) In sort, its worth a shot, but like some of hte other reviewers said, be sure you know what youre getting.

At first, I felt right back at home having experienced Aveda salons all over the south. I was calm, excited, and ready to spoil myself. Sat down with the stylist to go over the color book and discuss what I was wanting to achieve. She was arguing with me over hair color and which one I should get. Im pretty sure I know my hair and how this color will look on me. We finally settled on a color, and in the end result it still wasnt the color I was aiming for. During our chat, she had this depressing conversation with me about how her daughter died. I mean I really felt sorry for this woman, and expressed my condolences but you should have your game face on when it comes to the work place. It sounded like she should not be working or have taken more time off to grieve over her loss. Anyways at the end I thought my hair looked ok, but I didnt feel like sitting there trying to have her do it all over again. When I got my ticket, I was taken back of how much it costed. Nearly $150 for a deep conditioning treatment (not the one with the deep massage), all over color, with a peek-a-boo highlight. Seriously, I understand theyre a high end salon but I have never paid this much.. I didnt even get a cut! Not to mention, she wasnt the number 1 chair stylist! This Aveda salon is ok, I would much rather go to the master stylist in Regis in St. Clair square. They do just as good of a job and youre not stunned by their prices. If youre really wanting to check this place out, go for a consultation first.

Yes, the salon is nice when you walk in, great looking place. I have gone here a few times and the first two times not to bad of a price compared to other places I have gone. My eyebrows were a little pricey - $17.00 (without the tip) ! Learned my lesson there, (there is a Chinese place next to Schnucks that charges 10.00) and they did a better job. Now, I just got my hair done and when I went to pay for my session it was $170.00 !! I almost died to say the least. I am from am from Connecticut and have usually paid $130.00 at tops for my hair. I got a few highlights, and my roots covered up. I didnt have time for a haircut due to the fact I had to get my daughter but she said, "Oh I can just trim the back" and that is what she did. When I went to pay she charged me $45.00 for the "haircut" alone. I was looking at my watch the whole time and it was cut in 5 minutes. I am not one to complain but I just want people to realize what they are paying when they go here. My hairstylist was "Heather" - she was very nice, but way overpriced. I have used "Amenia" before and she was pretty good... Just FYI for those out there. Again, I am use to going to salons, but this was not worth it at all. You would have thought I would have walked out looking like Cindy Crawford for that price.

This was my first time getting my hair cut in over 2 years. I usually never come back to the same place because I never feel like the stylist understands my hair and growing it seems easier then explaining every time. I came in this last Sunday afternoon and was seen by Abigail. I really liked that I booked it online, very easy. I had a great appointment, I felt like she really understood me and wanted to make me happy. I felt she really stopped and listened to my concerns plus great chair side manner. I got a long bob and she took helped me take before and after pictures. She also gave me a lot of options for products but was not pushy. The staff all seemed to really enjoy each other and seemed very happy to be there. I will definitely be back and am really happy with my cut.

Very positive and pampering experience! I am new to the area, and needed a "pick me up" for my 63rd birthday. Derek, co-owner and master stylist was wonderful and very attentive to what I had in mind for cut and color. My hair was somewhat damaged, and I left the salon feeling like a new woman, I love the dimensional color, and his tips for styling and maintaining the condition of my hair while growing it out are very helpful. He recommended the Aveda moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, and I love it. My only complaint, is the cost. Very expensive for this retirees budget.

I have had my hair done at this salon for over a year now, and usually spend about $150 to $175 every 6 weeks. For the first time, I couldnt arrive for my appointment on time, and called to reschedule. Because I didnt give them 24 hour notice, they would not set another appointment without charging me $25.00. I feel humiliated. I have spent so much money there, and been a reliable return customer, and I felt as if they were more concerned about a missed appointment than keeping me as a customer. Now, I have to find somewhere else to have my hair done.
