The Patio Restaurant of Orland Park is one of four in a local chain. It’s another place that J’s parents eat at often and have suggested to us in the past. The Patio sits on 195th Street. The building is huge. The parking lot…not so much. It took a while for us to find a spot on a busy Saturday night. I didn’t have much hope of actually getting a table, but J assured me we would be ok. The inside of The Patio is a wide open space that is decorated to resemble a patio. The furniture is more patio furniture than lawn furniture and the ceilings are high, vaulted, and decorated to make you feel like it is open air. The restaurant is set up so you order in the front of the building then take a seat with a number. Your food is brought to you a few minutes later. We put our order in, grabbed our drinks and found a table. Again, I couldn’t believe how many people their were. We actually found a table for eight, but only took half of it. J’s mom was with us, so the three of us sat down and waited. We didn’t get anything too complicated and five minutes later, a man showed up at our table with a tray of food. Did I mention that The Patio is a BBQ place? So, in this trip home, I got pizza, Italian beef, and BBQ. It was like the perfect culinary experience. J and I both got pulled pork sandwiches and fries. J’s mom said they were known for their ribs, but I don’t like eating ribs in public. The pulled pork was pretty good. They had bottles of sauce on their table and I added a lot more of that. The sauce they put on was a Carolina style vinegar sauce which I’m not a huge fan of. I like it, but I like the sweeter Memphis sauce better which was they had on the table. The fries out of the bag fries that dipped well in the BBQ sauce. I ate all of mine and a little of J’s. Neither of us had really had much to eat so we were starving. J’s mom ordered some kind of Greek pita wrap that was on the special board. It was served open face and I actually thought it was a salad. There was a lot of chicken and a lot of feta cheese. The Patio was good. Not the best BBQ I’ve had in Chicago even though their website claims they’ve been voted by BBQ 10 years in a row by “Chicago newspapers.” It was quick, it was sort of laid back, and it was good. They have a bar so you can relax with a few cold ones just like you would on your own patio. I say “sort of laid back” because we had a manager almost hovering over us near the end of the meal. He was trying to seat a party of 12 in a crowded restaurant and for some reason, he chose to stand right next to me for like five minutes. I’m just not comfortable in places where the people are shoulder to shoulder and squeezing behind each other to get to an open table. The good thing was the place was big enough to handle the crowds. The bad thing is, The Patio is so good, that many people don’t mind fighting the crowds so you’re not going to enjoy a quiet, intimate evening….but you are going to get good “Q”

The Patio. Or the Place Always Taking It Above... and beyond. 25. a strapping 62" 231 as of today. I am never disappointed. This place is so ingrained in my childhood it mirrors that of only Barney the Dinosaur and fun shape Mac & Cheese. No contest are the RIBs. Award winning is an undervaluation to say the least. Perfect amount of sauce coupled with an continue bite of ever-so-tender meat and just fall off the bone quality, is not only what I expect, but what I receive on at least monthly basis, accompanying a fabulous haircut from right across the street. Now, there my be times where I dont make the ever so treacherous voyage, from a mile away, getting pulled from the fingers of smoke bringing me closer and closer, to get other samplings from their menu. The Burger, both satisfying and delicious, answers every questions my taste buds are asking. Like a fine wine, burger pairs well with a hotdog, or two, made from only the freshest of ingredients as if the hog offered itself up only for me. Finally, the end is no where near, the golden scepters, know to some as french fries. The perfect ending to a meal, filing cracks in the stomach as grout to a newly finished tileing. The perfect amount of both snap and give, as all people can learn from, DaVinci himself could not shape a spud to a better design. All good things must end, however, this journey is far from over. When you are as close as the Silver Lake County Club, the mild hike to The Patio is not an energy lost, but a bountiful meal gained.

Absolutely the best ribs on the planet. They also have great cream of chicken soup, and some of the best chicken sandwiches. Awesome french bread with soup and with ribs. (We always order some extra bread.) This is a great family place, that also serves beer in a frosted mug for the dads. Anyone visiting the Chicago area should make a stop at one of the Patio locations (I think there about 5 in the southwest suburban area.) I noticed another review mentioning poor service, and I agree that the drive up service leaves something to be desired, but inside weve never had a problem. Keep in mind that it is counter service, and so they bring you your food but then you are basically on your own. Also, the Orland Park location has a quirky dessert and coffee counter separate, and they never seem to have someone covering it, unless you wait 10 minutes ringing a bell, and then another 10 minutes while they slowly give you what you ask for there. Go to Patio for the dinner food, and then go elsewhere for dessert.

This place is turning into garbage. We eat here regularly and todays visit was the last. Soup was cold ribs had no meat on them. They are now buying 1.25lbs ribs and still selling them for the regular price. We had ordered a double Monterey burger. It came out cold and uncooked. I was glad I cut it in half. I sent it back and the manager Dean took it, I assumed they were making a new one since this had Sauer and cheese already on it. Nope they must have scraped most of the topping off and recoooked the same burger. What was returned to me was a pile of chopped up meat all burnt. I returned it a second time where Dean said there is nothing wrong you wanted it well. I explained I wanted it cooked not this. I asked for a refund and he said it wasnt his fault. Not going to return there anymore. Especially when we drop probably $60 a week for a meal and get this type of service.

I havent been to The Patio in years so when I went with family the other day things had changed quite a bit from what I remembered. We ordered to go and got a variety of things to try, but we found a that Patio really likes theyre red & green peppers which my family greatly dislikes so not a high point for us at all as we found them in the meatloaf I ordered and in the soup we got, plus when looking through the menu we found several items that mention the peppers in them. The Cornbread they serve is also very unappealing as it is very dense and full of corn. My family and I will like visit again, but we will be more cautious in what we order. The Patio also has a wonderful looking dessert bar that we looked through with tons of ice cream, cakes, and beautiful looking cake parfaits that we will likely try the next time we visit.
