I find it most bothersome when I see posts handing down bad reviews from what I can only describe as adolescent snowflakes. First of all, I have been working contract in the engineering industry for over 29 years. I have worked from coast to coast, from Texas to Alaska and all points in between. I have an acute understanding of how the industry, as well as their providers work. I have dealt with contract firms that miss paychecks, withhold tax from the wrong states, asked for 3-4 different interviews that didnt include the client, etc., etc. I also know a bad egg when I smell it. I regards to Lacy Lu, one look at her other reviews will show that she has hardly offered a kind word or review to anyone. Take a look at her reviews. 9 reviews, on good one. Now, I realize that the state of customer service has suffered across the nation in the last decade. HOWEVER, one just needs to read her reviews to come to one possible, nay, PLAUSIBLE conclusion. Someone was either weaned too early, wasnt hugged enough, or just needs a damn boyfriend. Lacy, you are bitter, mean, and maybe just a bit self righteous. Which brings me to Emillio. *sigh* I really hate talking down to the youngsters, but guy, you are either naïve, sheltered, or just simply daft. How the contract world works, NOTHING is guaranteed. NOTHING. There are no "safe zones" in real life. Most companies operate on a fiscal budget. when those funds elapse without a new influx of budget, the contractor is usually the first to go. You are temporary. a need filled. when that need expires, so does your paycheck. See, thats why contractors get paid more. We are in a volatile business. Most of us are in some form or another dependent upon quarterly reports, forecasts, not to mention stock the stock market. You complain about an 18 month assignment? I really have to question your business acumen. If your economics math doesnt compute the fact that a per diem would offset the $1.30 an hour lower rate, get a calculator. You sir, are in dire need of one. Forget the fact that as long as your paperwork has not been signed, the client has a right to append any rate change he wants. The contract shop is reliant upon the data given to them by the client. Did it occur to you the client may be the issue? I would warrant it did not. The problem I see, is no life experiences. The world owes you two nothing. You have the ability to say you are not interested and hang up. Now, to the nuts and bolts. I have worked with , oh, somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 contract agencies. I have seen the good, bad and ugly. Not only is ASPEN TECHNICAL the VERY BEST I have used, I have actually asked for them to be my shop at a place that had not used contractors before. Mary Zirino has been simply outstanding. She has bent over backwards to keep me gainfully employed. Reaching out to clients that dont even have a need. That happens when you are an asset. Hard work pays off. Chris Salem is very matter of fact, and some people cant handle blatant honesty. I find it refreshing, no second guessing where you stand. Im the same way. Anyone looking for an honest, hardworking, agency that will look out for their employees, need look no further than Aspen. As you can tell, I dont give reviews at the drop of a dime. I would recommend Aspen to anyone.

I have dealt with Aspen for the past few years now and cannot speak highly enough about the company as a whole, especially Chris Salem and Katie Armenta. Chris came across my resume by fate & reached out to me on thee very same day my company was being bought out and laying off (myself being one of them). I was put in touch with one of the biggest Engineering Firms in the industry by that afternoon, via FaceTime interview. By the following morning, I was employed and began my new position within the following week. Chris is not only one of the best in the business, but his professionalism, combined with his personal approach, puts you at ease throughout the process and establishes the trust that so many lack. No matter what, Chris went above and beyond to not only get me the job, but made sure all my needs were met. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with him and would highly recommend for anyone in the Engineering Industry, whether it be Chicago or New York, to contact him. The knowledge & connections that he possesses in the recruiting industry far surpasses anyone that I know. Katie Armenta has been nothing short of an absolute pleasure to deal with. No matter what the question, issue, or concern you may have - she has always been our go to & does it with ease and grace. Talking to her each week reminds me that there are some pretty awesome people in this world - and Katie just happens to be one of them. Her attention to detail as well as outgoing personality makes for an asset to any firm. Aspen is fortunate to have both Katie and Chris representing their firm.

I just recently applied for a job through Aspen technical and I was very unimpressed. At the interview I was informed that I would be laid off after 18 months. The agency neglected to mention that. Despite being told that the odds of gaining permanent employment slim to none I was still hopeful. Shortly after I was offered a position. Prior to the interview my starting rate confirmed but after I was told that the pay structure was changed. They offered me a rate 1.30/h less but I would get a per diem that would, " net me much more". After doing the math myself I found that the adjusted hourly rate was less then what was already confirmed. Upon declining the position the rep (Chris Salem) became indignant and self important. Telling me that I was making a huge mistake, in 47 years in the business this has never happened to him and that he got it because," I was young". I have worked at some shady places, but never have the true colors of a company become apparent so quickly. Bottom line is Aspen will not be upfront with the details of employment, they will take money out of your pocket and lie about doing so.

After reading some of the other posts, I was kinda taken aback. Aspen is a TEMPOARY SERVICE, PERIOD! If you looking for a job, the best way to get a foot in an otherwise difficult company is through one such as Aspen. I have been with this company going on four years. Mary Z and all of the supporting staff, Katie A and the rest, have treated me with the utmost respect, and in return, they have a hard working person that is happy to represent them anywhere they send me. I have had ZERO problems and they even remember my birthdays and anniversaries! They have never lied to me about transitions into clients companies because they have budgets. I think by far, Aspen and Mary, especially, has been the best service I have ever used. I look forward to continuing working for them.

I was skeptical at first as everyone would be, but the opportunity Aspen gave me turned into a great experience. This IS a temp agency that places confident, promising & reliable people in the position they deserve. Also as you hear, most positions are contract and were created based upon project demand. So, If youre worth your salt, then the opportunity to go direct is an option. I personally have worked with Mary. She’s great to deal with and promptly responds with positions available that best suits me and my personal abilities.
