I initially raved about the great shave and the atmosphere and had recommended them to several friends and clients. However my last experience was extremely disappointing. A miscommunication resulted in my father and I being late for our appointments. We were berated three times in rapid succession in front of the entire clientele for out tardiness and we were told that we would not be seen because they could not risk running behind. My dad, visiting from out of town and looking forward to spending the day with me, settled for a shoe shine. As we were leaving forty five minutes later, the next client STILL had not arrived. Our barbers, one who had given away my reserved time and the other, who the whole time was without a client and on an extended cigarette break, told us we should try back later in the week. Although there was ample time, not one attempt was made to accomodate either of us and I was made to feel as though my presence was not valued. Customer service = ZERO! I will not be back.

The best thing I can say for these guys is that they agreed to an appointment before their scheduled hours. When I arrived, the barber I was set to meet with had not shown up but they had a backup. I had scheduled a shave only but the barber immediately started a haircut (which I already had a couple days before) when I objected, his reply was that I needed to look good for my wedding day. Since I did not request or schedule this service, I did not expect to be charged for it. Unfortunately, the haircut was the best part of the experience since the shave was uneven and I noticed patches of hair after leaving. I was expecting a great old fashioned clean shave but not to leave a bunch of spots behind. If I wanted a spotty shave, Id have done it myself. What I was expecting to pay $30 for when I scheduled turned to be $55 because they charged for a haircut I did not schedule nor ask for. I dont think these guys will be a repeat.

Started going here when Charlotte and Said still worked here. Charlotte was my first barber and had a great experience. After she left, I went with Said and have never been let down. The next time I called in to make an appointment I was hung up on. Maybe there was a problem with the phone line? Why not. So I waited some time and called back and it turns out Said has also left. I ask to find out where he where or some way of figuring out where to find him as i would like to continue having him as my barber. The response i get from the receptionist was one that couldnt care less. I came in person to find out more information and it seemed what ever she was looking at under her desk was more important than a client standing in front of her. There was a constant air of "better than thou" the whole interaction. I dont plan on coming back. The only good things I can say are about Charlotte and Said.

So, I live in Carmel, but my son, being African American, typically goes to the hood to get his haircut. For one, its WAY cheaper ($12.00 or less), and for 2, they are familiar with his hair type. One day at the gas station, I run into a gentleman, Carlton, who tells me about the shop - and he was black. When he told me how much it cost $20.00 for a BOY, I just knew Id NEVER step foot up in that joint. months passed, and I just couldnt get my schedule coordinated with my other barber, and my son needed a cut BAD, so we roll into True Barbers, and FELL IN LOVE! They are so nice, professional, his haircut was on point, and they are very versatile in the type of hair they can cut. Im not gonna lie, every now and then, I still take him to the $12 dollar spot, but for the convenience, hours and days they are open, Haircut, wash, and conversation, True Barbers it is!

I have been to True Barbers several times after the recommendation of my son. They are by far the best barbershop in the city in my opinion. I showed up and they give you a beer or coke while you wait and then you experience a perfect cut in about 45 minutes when Great Clips and Sport Clips takes about 15 minutes and they cover up their mistakes with gel and B.S. for anywhere from a price of $6.95 at Great Clips to about $15.00 at Sports Clips. The bottom line is that you get what you pay for. Once you get the same barber, the next time you show up, they ask you if you want the same cut as before and a simple yes will answer the question. At Great Clips and Sports Clips, I have never had the same barber and my hair cuts vary from barely acceptable to awful. I am a true fan of True Barbers! My .02 cents

I will tell you all why you would see maximum 5 stars for this Barber, it is because they promise you $5 discount for each review you give. I had a good experience last time but this time they did not take down my appointment, then when I went in at the time they apologized and made me wait for 45 mins and they forgot about me. When i noticed that another gentleman who came after me was called for hair cut, I approached the owner who usually takes down the appointment again started to apologize. But by then I was sitting and waiting for 1 hour. Barbers are good but truly speaking its not really best barbers. As I mentioned 5 stars are only because people get $5 discount.

I have tried and tried and tried to find a way to like this place, but no. I relocated here and tried to find a place open on weekends (especially on a Sunday) to work around my hectic schedule. 3 different times they have managed to screw up my appointment, and no once were they sorry. For $25 you get a mediocre haircut, neck shave, and a dirty hot towel on your face. Money aside, for $25 you would expect a GREAT haircut, not just a regular haircut that they manage to still not get right. 4th time they have messed up my schedule. It is not like the place has tons of business, so I would not be surprised to see this place with the doors closed soon.

I had a 1:00 pm appointment. When I checked in 5 minutes before my scheduled time, the woman at the front desk said nothing about my barber running late. After waiting 15 minutes and being told nothing, I finally left. While I waited, these "True" barbers loudly discussed farting, reality shows and other juvenile topics. None moved with any sense of purpose. To be clear, this was my 2nd experience. During my 1st, they were 20 minutes late. After I told the barber how I wanted my hair cut, she flatly told me it was not possible to do it that way and she did it in a fashion she preferred. Perhaps the worst Barber Shop I have ever experienced.

My barber, Said, is the best barber in the Indy area. I truly believe that. Ive been going to him for over a year now. I even went there the day before my wedding because I knew Said would make me look great. I have sent several of my friends there and they have all made him their go-to barber now. Saids schedule can fill pretty quickly, so make sure to book in advance. I have other friends who get cuts from some of the other barbers and they love it just as much. Ive also had Jason shine my shoes. I usually shine my own shoes but Jason does a great job! Great place, great people!!
