Upon walking into this shop you will not be greeted by anyone, but by a empty barber chair surrounded by hair stuffed into the carpet at its base. I guess youre expected to know to walk on past this gross looking situation and into the waiting room that was covered in dust and webs. Again nobody was there, except another gentleman waiting for a hair cut. Then I heard a muffled "all aboard" from a flight of stairs adjacent to the waiting room. He must have been here before, because he knew what to do. He made his way upstairs, leaving a wake of dust and who knows what else in his path as he climbed the stairs. What a weird and bizarre concept for a shop. You have to pay before your haircut...as your boarding pass I suppose. This place is gross and after considering my desire for a decent haircut and not wanting to put my trust and the fate of my hair into this lazy barbers hand; I decided my money and my hair were better off elsewhere, so I made my exit. If you do decide to come here, I would recommend a HEPA mask or a chemturion suit before you make your entrance. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding you should not enter.

I should have taken it as a warning when I noticed that absolutely no one was waiting for a haircut on a Saturday afternoon at the only barbershop within miles. The decor is pretty interesting as the barbershop sits in an old train caboose. But thats the only cool thing about the shop. I had to pay for the haircut BEFORE sitting in the chair, which struck me as odd. But then, I was subject to a haircut that was mediocre at best, and had to later fix chunks of uneven strands and missed patches. Worse, was the onslaught of racially motivated commentary that was the entire conversation initiated by the barber. He was quick to tell me how he was run out of Indianapolis by the BLACKS, and recently, a woman stopped by his shop to see if he wished to rent out one of his open barber chairs. Of course, she was BLACK, so he didnt like her attitude from the moment she walked in the door. I am a white male, and his racial prejudice offended even me. This is not the kind of conversation a customer wants to be forced into, especially while getting a poor haircut.

I remember this place. I would come here regularly to get a haircut with my Dad and Brother. That was like 2009 - 2012 that I went there. I wonder if the Barber still remembers me. I once remember my brother wanting a mohawk. Gary did just that. My dad and Gary were close, but I was too young at the time to remember what they talked about. Last words I heard from Gary were something along the lines of a stolen golden dresser handle or something. Any way, serious talk. Gary was always quite nice to me and my brother, and cut exactly the hairstyle we desired. Including that mohawk. ;) Overall, a very nice place.

I have been getting my hair cut with Gary at his shop for several years. Gary is veteran barber with good skills and personality. The unique surroundings of getting ones haircut in a actual old train caboose is fun. I appreciate his loyalty card program which earns me a free haircut after ten cuts. Got a free one this morning.

Gary, the barber takes you on a walk thru time with a train experience! We appreciate that Gary is still here in McCordsville !! Every visit seems special for my 88 year old Dad! He always enjoys the cut and visit the first or last of every month!! Its accessible too which is important since Dad is on a rollating walker.

Run down. The barber messed up both of my sons haircuts even after me asking him if he could do the cut and he said he could do any cut as long as he has the time.
