In short DO NOT GO! I have been there twice. The first time I over looked the fact that I had to be buzzed in, the unsanitary conditions, the obvious lack of style and taste and the outright ghetto barbers. The first time I overlooked it because the haircut was decent (3rd chair rightside). Today I went back, optimistic and open-minded. After sitting there for 20 minutes without even a greeting or acknowledgment, I decided to call a duck a duck and leave. There is a barbershop in the next shopping center called NStyle. As much as I do not want to like this place. It is clean, all barbers can cut fantastically and can carry on an intelligent conversation. The owner greets u as soon as u walk in the door. It is unisex so there is always a great atmosphere. Everything down to the seating is unorthodox but clever. You sit near the barber from whom u want a cut. The furnishings are classy. The music is soothing. There are no bootleggers or salesmen in there. This place is simply echelons above most barbershops. The owner of Bowie One barbershop could learn how to run a business by becoming a patron at a place like NStyle. There is a clear distinction between the patrons of each shop which is why I will NEVER revisit the penitentiary that is Bowie One barbershop. I would rate it a zero if possible. Being a regular at this barber shop, I felt obligated to respond to the very negative review, written above. Bowie One is a nice barber shop and Ive never had any problems there. Im always acknowledged when I walk in, however, the barbers do prefer for the customers to make appointments (nor have I ever seen any bootleggers). Yes, sometimes you do have to be buzzed in, but thats never been an issue for us. Usually, classic R&B is playing from the radio and the place is immaculate. I take my 2 year old son there for a cut and shape up every three-four weeks. My sons usual barber does a great job (2nd on left) with my sons hair and has proven to be very gentle (my son has even fallen asleep while being serviced!). I tried two barbers at different shops before this one and my son cried both times during the shape up. My husband is also a regular at this shop and his barber (different from our sons), Devin, does a fantastic job, in a timely manner, always. Our barbers do a phenomenal job, the price is right - go see for yourself! Signed, a 20-year-old Bioengineering undergraduate, wife and mother.
