It is not difficult to find a hairstylist in this town who will help you look like you re in a boy band. For $60, you can get some spiky bits and a smear of dye and walk out feeling clever for a moment, but a year later you ll look at pictures of yourself and feel perfectly silly, and your children will look at those pictures after you re gone and giggle. If, on the other hand, you want to look handsome, elegant, and classically, timelessly cool, you need to go to Mike Coronella at Barbershop Deluxe. Mike is a true artisan with an encyclopedic knowledge of men s hairstyles. I do not throw these terms around lightly--test him. I have. It s fun. You can toss out a reference to an obscure 1940s film star, and he will not only know PRECISELY the cut to which you refer, he will also recreate it perfectly. Or, go a more impressionistic route. The first time I visited him, prompted by the fawning review of his work in the dearly departed Boston Phoenix, I told him I wanted to look like a juvenile delinquent from 1962. He quickly ascertained that I actually was thinking more mid-50s James Dean/The Outsiders (which was spot-on), and gave me a cut that has garnered more praise from strangers on the street than I was prepared to deal with. I ve subsequently run the gambit of classic men s hairstyles with Mike, and each and every time, I walk out of the shop feeling revitalized, and razor sharp. It should be clear by now that I cannot praise this guy enough, and I am obviously vain enough to give such matters an almost distasteful amount of thought. I should add that the actual experience of hanging out with him is a pleasure as well--he has a sort of rough, honest grace that, to my mind, is preferable to the irritating preciousness you ll often get from salons. At the end of the day, do you want to look like Sean Connery or James Dean or Steve McQueen or Don Draper, or do you want to look like you were on a reality show last year that s been cancelled? If the answer is the former, get thee to Barbershop Deluxe.

Ive been going to Barbershop Deluxe for probably 5+ years at this point. I see Jon each time (and Christina when Jon is away) and really enjoy every part of the experience. The location is great and provides the neighborhood vibe youre looking for in a local barbershop. Jon and Christina are true experts, working fluidly to make the experience pleasant and the resulting haircut excellent, every time. It must be hard to be rated here on google places for something as subjective as haircuts...people will be happy or sad based on some pretty specific metrics. Rest assured if youre reading these reviews that the place is great - give it a shot and Im confident you wont be disappointed, especially with either Jon or Christina. Its my go-to place for a number of years now...

I had my first experience at Barbershop Deluxe on Tuesday morning around 11 O`Clock. Making the transition from one barbershop to another is never an easy task. I have been commuting to my barber in Whitman for 6 months but eventually gave up on the drive because it was taking too much of a toll on my free time. Albert was my barber by pure chance. I tried to convey to him the trim and style I was looking for (I am basically crazy regarding my hair). And he did a bang-up job. There is no question he had years of hair styling experience under his belt. He took his time and although the price was high..Who cares. You can`t put a price on a good haircut. I`ve had too many horrific cuts over the years. Check out Barbershop Deluxe for a good cut by a real pro.

Scheduled for Justin and was very satisfied. I am very particular about my cut (faux hawk with temple drop fade / pompadour with temple fade) but he did a fantastic job. I have been to many barbers through PA, MA, and RI over the past 3 years and this is the best cut anywhere thus far. Highly recommended for anyone looking for absolute attention to detail, classic barber setting, with a straight razor finish. Throw in advice regarding your hair type and growth pattern as well. Only recommendation to their business is to consider adding a warm towel and drink into their customer experience...this is due to the fact that some other local barbers offer this. Be competitive!

I get my haircut by Mike. I heard he was a period haircut specialist, so I went in and got a sweet 30s military cut (he talked me out of fifties because of my hair type). Super era accurate; I trusted him and it was an awesome cut. But then I had to be in a wedding, so I went back in two weeks later and he and I worked out how to tone it down a bit. I couldnt be happier - still classic, but not so extreme. And he does it all in about 10 - 15 minutes, including clean up. That combined with online booking makes this an easy way to look the way you want.

I happened to be in Boston and decided to try to get a haircut without an appointment on a Saturday. I tried one place and they were booked so i stopped at Barbershop Deluxe. I walked in and there were about 6 people waiting who had appointments already but I guess they were with specific barbers. Albert happened to be free so I was able to get a haircut from him without waiting. Hands down the best haircut I have had in years. The only downside is I live in Rhode Island and am now tempted to make the drive up to Boston once a month for a haircut.

Master of Her Craft – Christina Style! When I moved to the Hub from Wyoming over 6 years ago, I was faced with the daunting reality of having to find a new barber. It wasn’t long before I found Christina and have been a delighted customer of BSD ever since. Christina is passionate about her craft and makes each cut an experience that leaves her clients RAVING for days. Don’t forget to ask about her neck shave – AMAZING!

Nice guys, good relaxed vibe (classic rock from an iPod on some speakers), reasonable price ($25). Justin was very good, asking me my likes and preferences. You should make an appointment, and you should use their website (or app) for that. If you call for availability they will refer you to their online calendar. I will definitely go back.

EVerytime Ive gone in, Ive come out with a great haircut. Its a bit on the pricey side but given the neighborhood and expertise its totally understandable/worth it. You wont be disappointed. Its also worth noting that this is a traditional barbershop with the services/expertise that goes along with it. Not a salon or anything!

I am from NY and have been to barbers my whole life. When I moved to Boston I struggled to find a good barber, and I tried many places before I came to Barbershop Deluxe and met Mike. Mike is by far the best barber I have ever had, and when I move to NY again, I will travel to Boston just to get my hair cut by him.

Love this place! Love every barber I go to and my haircut is always perfect! Great products, great prices and friendly staff. I have even been a walk in and been able to see someone on short notice. There are many choices in the city but this should be your first stop!
