If I could give them ZERO stars, I would. This place is absolutely terrible. Do not go here. My father-in-law chose them from their commercial claiming to provide cremation for cheap. He did not let any of his family know about this, except that it is all paid for. From my mother-in-laws experience with them, this is what she told me. Swanson staff came to take his body and said nothing. Then they called to say nothing was paid. Since my mother-in-law could not find proof of payment, she had to pay them, which was over $200 more than advertised. They never informed my mother-in-law of when he would be cremated or when she would receive the ashes. A man showed up late one night to drop off the ashes. That is very strange and inappropriate. To make it worse, they didnt notify the local paper to add him to the obituary. When I called to ask them about it, they said a "trainee" forgot to do it. But they said it could be arranged anytime, so I picked the date to have it published before our memorial for him. They said the paper will run it twice for the free death notification. Well, it was never done. My father-in-laws mother has been looking for it everyday since he passed, which is the saddest part. So I just got off the phone with the local paper who verified that they never had notification from Swanson. They will run it for me though after verifying his death with Swanson. All it took was ONE phone call from them to the paper and they couldnt even do it TWICE! I would NEVER recommend this place. They are running some kind of scam and preying on grieving family members. Please BEWARE !! I think the positive reviews are from the owner or employees.

If i could give this place zero stars I would. Used them for my late husbands cremation who passed unexpectedly. I could not afford the full cost of his cremation and told them i was waiting for DHS to approve emergency funds after being badgered into paying for it all up front which took money i needed to get a new place for me and my kids to live i get the approval letter the day after i paid. I called and asked what happened now, they told me to bring the letter and once the funds were released my money would be refunded. This was January its now july and even though i have called numerous times and left messages with the receptionist i have recived nothing. Called DHS to report them for fraud and was informed that they had the emergency funds the day i came to pick his ashes up. I also havent recived his death certificate which according to my agreement is included in price. I was also charged an extra 20$ to place my husbands ashs in his urn. Do not to business with them i will also be reporting them to the licensing agency these people need to be shut down

Thus place is going get shut down u have called avc and channel 5 my grandfather died over a year ago and they told us a simple cremation was 597 then tried charge us 150 for picking up his vody which they didnt my brother has carry his body out to they car by law they supposed to only hold his body in cold freezer 3 days before they send him for cremation abd i told them im on disablity and couldnt make payments till the first of month so they hels on to him for 23days and when i paid the 597 plus 800 now they want 1700 for atorage fees from him being in they freezer charging me 50 dollars a day abd wont release his ashes to me till its paid off and worst part is hes a koren war vet do not take ur loved one there if u havent seen the news on how they mishandled bodies leaving them to decompose in they garage aint enough to keep you away i dont know what will

Very unprofessional place my grandfather was sent to them to be cremated which we find out he actually had to Ypsilanti to be cremated they sent paperwork at their convience to have him cremated ww continuously got the run around took them 6 days to go pick him up never contacted us to swe if we wanted to pick him up or that he was even back from Ypsilanti and the delivery of him back to us never happened i had to go pick him up this week im still waiting to hear from the funeral director who is conviently away and I had his staff scrambling on the phone I have never felt so disrespected and the difference between me and the rest of you if i dont hear from the funeral director in 24 hours i will notify the press

Avoid at all cost if you want your loved one treated with respect. We recent used Swansons on recommenation to handle my fathers cremation and after nearly 2 weeks of lie after lie every time we called, we ended up dealing directly with the crematorium in Yipslanti that Swansons outsources to and were able to lay my father to rest. They still owe my mother 200 dollars worth of death certificates that according the county office, they never even requested. They caused out family unneeded emotional stress. We are having our lawyer ensure that this situation goes on file. If anyone has issues, make sure you let the licence board know, the only way these ungrateful crooks will get shutdown.

Keep your deceased loved ones FAR AWAY from this nightmarish place! Bodies were left stacked in a garage with no embalming and no refrigeration; a hand-washing sink filled with blood, hair and tissue; maggots on the property; family jewelry missing from bodies....Some unembalmed bodies stored for MONTHS with no refrigeration! There is NO excuse for such grisly and ghoulish disrespect for the dead. Appalling, disgraceful, and thoroughly despicable owners & management.

Thank you Swanson Funeral Home! When my Father passed, I inquired about cremation with other funeral homes in Lansing. I was quoted three to four thousand dollars, which I did not have. A friend suggested Swanson and I called from the hospital room. Very friendly staff, helpful and the process went smooth. Thanks to the low cremation fee, a lot of stress was lifted regarding my Fathers death. I would recommend Swanson.

Make sure you remove any jewelry your loved one is wearing at the time of their death, as this establishment will steal any rings they have on. I never thought that any one would do something like that. Swanson funeral home in flint Michigan is populated by scum, corpse looting ghouls! Shame on all of you! I hope you got a good price at the pawnshop for my familys heirloom ring that was my great grandmothers!

I have been in Alot of hardship with my mom passing..they were never rude or anything like that to me and it has taken me 5 months to get the money for her..Ive called a whole lot over 5 months..and tho I probably was annoying to them never were they rude to me..Id like to thank yall so much for putting up with me..UPDATE..I HAVE MY MOM BUT THEY WONT GIVE ME HER JEWELRY!I paid in full..where is her jewelry!

It is in the interest of the public that they keep a safe distance from this place, it has been cited by MIOSHA with 22 serious violations.Keep away until other information is available to prove otherwise. Some of the citations include overexposure to formaldehyde and exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Perfect place to get sick.
