I had my bridesmaids go here to get our hair done on the day of my wedding. Their front desk worker I talked to was not the brightest at communicating their services well. It was a little frustrating because I had to call four different times. The first time I called, I asked what they offered. The second time I called was to set up the appointments. This is when I asked for the bridal package. The only reason why I wanted a bridal package was because of the “free trial appointment.” I thought that meant a free hair trial appointment; however, I was wrong and found out the third time I called. The third time, I finalized the appointments and asked to set up my “free hair trial appointment”. I got a rude, “oh no honey, we don’t offer free hair trial appointments.” I then asked what is the “free trial appointment” with the bridal package. She said it’s for makeup… and then informed me I can set up a trial hair appointment, but it would be $76 for the trial and $76 or the actual appointment the day of. So, I canceled the bridal package and just scheduled to get my hair and make-up done the day of. I said I did not want the trial appointment because it wouldn’t benefit me at all. I would pay $76 for the stylist to see if they can do the hairstyle, just to go home and wash the hairstyle out immediately before anyone sees it. Four days before the wedding my husband’s mom calls and says she’s at Curb Appeal and that they said I need to set up a trial appointment! I then called them for the fourth time. (it was the same woman every time I called). I told her I had already called to confirm the appointments and that I didn’t want a trial appointment because I am confident that they will do a good job. She then informed me that my husband’s mom told them that the bridesmaid hairstyles I chose had a braid in them. She then went on to telling me that all the stylists there do NOT know how to braid hair…. I repeated, “they don’t know how to braid hair? A simple three strand braid in hair?” I was thinking, why in the world are the stylists at a salon if they can’t even braid hair! She said yes and since I wasn’t coming in for a trial, I had to set up a consultation appointment. A consultation appointment? Why didn’t she tell me that the other 3 times I called there? If his mom didn’t go in four days before the wedding I wouldn’t have set one up because I had no idea I had to. Anyway, besides the front desk service, the place was great! We went in, all got our hair done simultaneously. Everyone’s hair turned out beautiful!

Skip this place and go see Eric Burden at Bungalow 8!!!!! I have never felt so compelled to write a review but feel that I should warn anyone who is entertaining getting their hair done by an owner of a salon who shows very little consideration to the people who pay to have their hair done by Troy Davis (at an extremely over-priced price, I might add). I would give this place negative stars but had to give at least one just to post. I went to Troy for color and then he suggested a haircut to trim the ends...the cut alone was $100! But what made me so disgusted with this experienced owner is that during my color...I realized I had 10mins left on the meter. After digging through my purse to realize I didnt have any cash on me with Troy standing next to me waiting like a kid waits for a treat...Troy reluctantly gets a dime and then plugs the meter. Although his lack of desire to do this was apparent...I was appreciative that he didnt make me go outside with the foils and color on my head. However, he then comes back to tell me that I only had four minutes and that I should be ok. After asking if the parking patrol was strict he says yes and mentions that their office is across the street from where I am parked. He then proceeds to tell me how I can download an app to monitor the meters, upload my card info so I can add time when needed. Throughout this time it was apparent to me that for him to add another 10cents was something he hadnt even considered. I will say, I never expected Troy or his salon to keep plugging the meter for me as I had paid for two hours, but when it is a matter of ten minutes...I feel the salon could ease this concern. Needless to say...I was so perplexed by this lack of consideration that when I realized I had tipped him $55 I was completely disgusted to think he couldnt even spend 25cents to provide peace of mind to me in this situation. My advice...if youre going to to spend $250 on a shabby color (that looks nothing like the pics I took in)...make your money count and go see Eric Burden at Bungalow 8. Knowing that you should feel pampered and taken care of...while providing the most amazing hair expertise and experience...is something that Eric genuinely gets. Plus you wont have to sit for 20-30mins just listening to Troy talk about color and tone when you dont really care about those things either. Thank you Troy Davis for reminding me that I never should have gone anywhere else but to Eric because he is truly worth the money!!! Save your dimes...you might need them!

To start off, MJ is absolutely amazing, five stars for him. Continue reading to find out why this review is three stars. He’s amazing at conversation and making you comfortable. He gave me the exact look I was going for. Which is outstanding. My sister and I went down to the Old Market and made it a day, getting our hair done and shopping. The problems started when we learned that the receptionist had mistakenly scheduled my sister and me for only a wash and style when I had also asked for a haircut as well. MJ promptly realized I also wanted a cut and fit it in, although my sister’s stylist wasn’t as understanding. Her name was Laura, and when my sister showed her a picture of what she wanted, Laura basically ignored her and didnt take the picture. She didn’t question when Laura immediately started styling. My sister’s hair is unmanageable and frizzy so it’s normal that they straighten her hair then cut it. When my sister asked if she was going to cut her hair, Laura said she didn’t have time and offered no apology. She sat there awkwardly as the stylist talked to another salon employee next to her. After a few moments, she told her to go sit next to me, basically dismissing her like a child. (Which she isnt. Shes 17 and fully aware of whats going on.) Laura did nothing to remedy the situation, she simply left it at that. The woman was rough on my sister’s hair towards the end, as if in a rush and hurrying to get it done. It was as if getting to her next appointment was more important than her customer’s satisfaction. Her next appointment was a male with short hair, and I can’t imagine it would have taken long. She could have offered to do the cut after her next appointment (since we were shopping around anyways and we made it clear that we would be around for awhile) or could have told us to schedule another as soon as possible. I will be booking an appointment with MJ for my sister to get her cut since he was absolutely amazing but I will be very careful who I book my appointments with here from now on.
