When reading this review please note that I am extremely anal, and critical of barbers, and have previously had the same one for almost 10 years, because I couldnt find anyone else that came close to cutting my hair the way I expected it to be cut. With that being said, my brother-in-law consistently swore by Manny at American Shave, and said I was missing out on the best cut around. Well due to having to attend a wedding, and not being able to get an appointment with my regular barber, I decided to give Manny a shot. First off I had a good vibe from the door when I was greeted by his receptionist, and offered a coffee, expresso, or any beverage for that matter. Complete class act, and professional is an understatement, they make you feel as if you are getting a $200.00 hair cut by the way they treat you. Second, if you make an appointment for 10:00AM 9 times out of 10 Manny is ready to cut you at 9:50, which is phenomenal because he is so on point with his schedule, rarely ever runs behind. He usually has me in and out in a half hour which is perfect for me, because Im always running on a tight timeline. What I also love about American Shave, is that they have an online booking portal, so if Im on the go, I can literally book on my iPhone, through the website. They also send you reminders the day before your haircut, so you dont forget your appointment, which is key especially in my busy life! Third, and most important, we cant forget the haircut itself. OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Manny does an impeccable job, and his extreme attention to detail is noticed after every single cut. I have never got more compliments on my hair since going to Manny. He also stocks great product, and shaving supplies which I purchased, and can honestly say is the best stuff I have ever used. In conclusion, from the atmosphere of the shop, the professionalism of the staff, quality of the haircut, quality product, ease of making appointments, punctuality of appointments, and overall great experience, I will be using Manny as long as he is able to cut hair. I suggest you all give him a try, you will not be disappointed!!!!!!

I have been a customer of American Shave since it opened. I have also been employed in the service industry for over 10 years. The customer service at American Shave is the top notch; crème de la crème. This isnt a barbershop with a list on the wall where you write your name and wait for it to be yelled out; and hopefully in the right order. This isnt a barbershop where you wonder how many times the person cutting your hair has been arrested. And this isnt a barbershop where you hope to not get shot coming in and out the door. Simply put, this isnt a barbershop. This is an experience. When you open up a new ipod, Apple isnt selling an MP3, Apple is selling a lifestyle (the cute box, the packaging etc.). Whats being sold at American Shave is its atmosphere, and a mix of the respect of good old fashion customer service and trend setting styles that fit todays modern man. Anyone can get their haircut at the mall, or any one of hundreds barbershops out there. I want to get my haircut where the employees care about how the haircut looks (since in essence it is their handywork and their art), care about their craft and most importantly care about me. This is exactly the kind of place that is American Shave. I have gotten numerous compliments after leaving American Shave. I once got my head cut with a "1" razor all around and was complimented on my way into a Dunkin Donuts. Are you kidding me? That shows craftmanship. I recommend American Shave because the minute I walk in the door I know I am in for an experience that on the other side of, I will look like a million dollars. The only reason I would tell someone to not frequent American Shave is because it could potentially take up a haircut appointment that could be mine in the future. This is a place for professionals. I recommened anyone who hasnt gotten their haircut at American Shave to try it for the haircut, and I guarantee you: that person will return again and again because of the experience.

I used to watch old movies, like Chinatown with Jack Nicholson, where a man walked into a barber shop, sat back, and received a haircut and a hot lather shave with a straigh razor. I sighed in disappointment, as there were no barber shops like that anymore. What happened to the standard of service? All Ive ever known personally are places where people who call themselves barbers stand around with a buzzer all day, shuffling clients in and out of the chair...AND THEN I FOUND AMERICAN SHAVE. This place is very impressive. I got cut by Jimi, and this guy was awesome. What I liked the most was his attention to detail. He actually used scissors on my hair (and knew how to use them). To top off my haircut, I got a hot towel shave, and Jimi was like Picasso with the straight razor, not one nick or cut...It was the first time I left a barber shop truly looking (and feeling) like a million bucks...the cost was only a few more bucks than most other barber shops, but the quality of haircut, as well as the service, was well worth it! American Shave is the new trend in barber shops, combining old school craftsmanship with modern style..no wonder this place is so popular.

Ive been a customer of American Shave since it opened and go on a weekly basis. The whole staff is a cut above the rest, with every barber being equally talented. The service is second to none; theyre the benchmark as far as Im concerned. Unlike most barber shops, the shop is always very clean and the staff does a great job maintaining that appearance. One aspect that separates them from other shops is your sure to be in the chair at your scheduled time and will be out within 30 -45 minutes depending on what your having done. Again being a weekly customer you tend to appreciate what the shop offers. I highly recommend setting an appointment and getting a "Rock n Roll". If you want to be extra pampered get "The American Shave". If youve never experienced a straight razor shave, their is a chance your skin may get irritated. You may have to have it done a few times till your skin gets accustomed to it. Also let your barber know its your first time. I guarantee after your first experience, youll be setting up your weekly appointment.

Dont be late!!! Not by 5 nor 10 min!! If your life is perfect, go ahead and make an appointment! I called a few days ago set an appointment and in my imperfect little life something came up that I would make it 5-10min late... I called with 15min of anticipation to let them know I was going to be a little late, and they told me that unfortunately they had to move my appointment 5 hours later and they immediately took someone in. I guess that they are so awesome they rather loose a customer than brake the balance of their perfect barber universe. Fortunately for me, I found an imperfect little barber shop a block away that (even thou they where packed with customers) took me in immediately!! And they where $10 cheaper! True.. They didnt put me a hot towel in my face but hey, the cut was great and the people where down to earth.. If you want hot towels, have perfect time management skills and wish to pay extra for their pretty decorated local, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!! Unfortunately, that is not my case.
