I have been a customer at Ideal Barber Shop in Glen Oaks since I was about 5 years old -- that is, 1958, about the time they opened. Although I moved away from the area for some years, I have always come back to the area, and to them. Fifty years later, the two brothers are still standing in the same place, giving great haircuts (and most of their staff is also excellent) for the lowest price around. And, if you care to engage, they have some nice stories and dialogue to share, as a good barber should. Or, read one of the many, current newspapers and magazines they keep on hand. My highest recommendation for this landmarkable barber shop.

I wish I could post a worse ranking. I have my hair brushed to the side and I said a little off the top and they gave me an uneven flat top with uncut bangs. This haircut was for a jon interview in Manhattan. My original barber didnt speak English and so another barber said she was doing it wrong so he started cutting. I told him to even out the sides. The flat top was the result. I had to go to another barber to fix it. Now Im going to be walking into an interview on edge because of how awful I look. Never going back

I was a walk-in. Some guy from the back comes up an helps me at the front seat. His name started with a b. I said a little off the top an a one on the side. Guy took off 3/4 off the top. An did a terrible job on the sides. He was done in 5 min. I went here cause I figured Id try some place closer to home. Butni regreted that choice later. If your looking for a cheap fast (really fast) haircut and dont care about h ow u look after. Then come here. Never again.

Just started going recently. My previous two experiences were pretty good. However, this last time I went, the barber cut my hair very differently then what I asked and his reasoning was that he wanted to give me a new, fresher look (even though I never asked for it). My hair looks similar to a crew cut and when I said that it was too short and this was not what I wanted, his response was, "Itll grow back." Not the exact response I wanted to hear.

Place is a great old fashion barber shop. Been coming here for about 2 yrs now. I prefer to have my haircut by Jim or Ralph. They also cut my sons hair (hes 3 yrs old) and they do an excellent job with his hair too considering the fact hes moving all over the place. They also charge a great price. About 10 bucks a cut. Thanks guys!

3 cuz the men in this store are good, but the female barbers dont listen to a word u say. I have had a female barber 3-4 times now and each time they never listen to what length haircut i want and do as they please, such terrible listening skills

If you need a cheap, fast haircut you should go here. If you ask for a shave, you might end up walking out with blood all over your neck because Ali is incompetent with a straight blade.

i have been coming here for several years: there is no wait, even on weekends, very cheap and fast $9 haircut +tip; only downside is that they dont accept credit cards.
