I chose this place to have a major service done on my Audi TT. I requested all filters and fluids changed along with spark plugs and belt. I had just bought the car and only put 70 miles on it when I took it to Active. The car was inspected prior to me purchasing it and it passed all safety measures. The first day I got a call saying the car was beautiful and needed nothing. The next day I received another call saying i needed front pads and rotors 1000 % needs replacement. I couldnt see it needing it since I was just told 70 miles ago they were at 80 % good. Anyways I decided to trust them and have them replaced. Safety first thats why I took it in for a major service. when I got home I checked the oil.. It was 3 quarts over full.. So I had to goto Jiffy lube for an immediate oil change... when at jiffy lube they noticed the filters didnt get changed as requested by me. I took pictures of the old filter and had jiffy lube replace them. so it cost me almost 200 bucks to fix that. Feeling uneasy about what i saw... I took the car into a shop back home.... Man Im glade I did! the bolts that hold the caliper on the brakes was finger loose and about to come off! The spark plugs werent torqued just finger loose. the fuel filter case was missing and the new filter was zip tied in! I was informed by jiffy lube that the skid plate was missing all hardware but one bolt. I would never take your car here! I have all the pictures and documentation to prove lack of repairs and poor service work.

I have been a customer since Feb 2012 back when they were on W 38th Street. I met Jon then and he has always been upfront on the work and estimates for my car. As others have stated, when uncovering potential maintenance issues, he informed me of the work necessary and give a fair assessment. I have come to trust his opinion on the benefits or cons of doing the work. It is my go to garage for my 2005 Audi A4. The prices are reasonable, they source genuine Audi parts and stand by their work. They did have a hiccup with me and I had to return to the garage for a minor issue where the technician needed to do some additional adjustments which they quickly resolved upon my return. The last statement is the only reason I could have considered to remove a star but decided their customer service response to me and how they resolved is why I return. And return I did. Just last month, I needed my window regulator replaced one morning when I heard a crunching sound and the window would not return to the closed position. I called John and brought the car in. They diagnosed and had the car repaired for me by the next morning for pickup. My car has over 105K miles and with Audi has had its repairs along the way but its been running great and I can say Thank You to Active Auto for keeping me on the road!

My daughters BMW broke down in Manhattan on Sunday early evening. We live in Connecticut and don’t know of any garages in NYC let alone one that would answer the phone on a Sunday. I found Active Auto Repair on Yelp and called. I couldn’t believe it when they answered the phone. I explained the situation and they said to tell my daughter to stay with the car and they would have a tow truck there in 15 minutes. The tow showed up right away. The next day they called with the analysis and price. I checked it with my local repair guy and he said it was very fair for the parts and labor. They had the car ready the next day. When I picked it up they were very professional. They had all of the paper work ready and explained the warrantee. The car has been running perfectly since they fixed it. These guys are heroes in my book. They saved the day for me and my daughter. They did what they said they would do and they did it very well. I highly recommend them.

I own a SAAB. It is officially a dinosaur with very few reliable places in NYC to provide parts & service. Active Auto was able to get the part I needed & was able to make my car "inspection" worthy. Both Jon & Josh were (& are) trustworthy. The key thing to note is...they are busy, so they have no reason to clutter up their shop with imaginative repairs. They ordered the part & completed the installation in 1 hour. Granted it was not a complicated repair, but they saved me over $100 on the specialty headlamp bulb, & even fixed the cracked casing with no extra charge. SAAB owners are loyal & I will be recommending them to my fellow SAAB owners.

Active Auto Repair NYC did a great job of helping me out and repairing my 2007 Audi A-6. I was visiting New York City when I had an engine problem. Not being familiar with the area, I found Active Auto on google, gave them a call, and they told me to bring the car right over. My Audi needed a replacement engine – they helped me out with the insurance claim, finding a low time engine, and installing it for me. I am very happy I found Active Auto to work on my car.

Called to ask about a 2" lift kit for my Suzuki sidekick, I was quickly hung up on after saying they dont provide that service. I couldnt even ask my other brake problem as the call was disconnected. I called back to ask my other question when the guy told me he wouldnt help me and hung up again. This all took place in 30 seconds. Im confused on why I was so mistreated.....

I am very pleased with the service I received here on my 08 M3 E46. At first I was a little skeptical because this is not the BMW dealer service center, but nevertheless, these guys know what they are doing. It took 1 business days and my Beemer was back on the road. I got an oil change, new filters, alignment and balance. Expect me back guys, I am very pleased.

Im rarely partial to a particular shop (unless its bad news), but have been comfortable with coming back to these guys in the past year. They recommended quite a few repairs and I decided to go with the ones that they said were most pressing. Overall: satisfied with the work they did on my volvo and will return, though hopefully not too soon!

Great service and great experience! brought in my CRV with what they told me was a blown water pump and timing belt. They did a thorough check of the car and charged a fair price (given the prices in the area). Then they fixed it and now its good as new! Cant recommend them enough!
