*** Im editing my two star review. Two days after posting my review to warn other potential customers of the SCAM that Prestige auto pulled on me, the owner called to berate me. So the Two star review has just dropped to one star. His defense for the scam was to ask why he would pull a scam for only $30. Which is a great defense petty shoplifters use the same rational to try to get our of swiping small items. These people are thieves! Here is the the original post... I have been to Prestige Auto three times and have generally been happy with their work and their rates. It is unfortunate today that they pulled such a nickel and dime scam on me. Here is what happened. I brought my 2008 MINI Cooper in for a state inspection. The cost of a state inspection is $37. Last year at a different auto repair shop I was told that my ca wouldnt pass inspection without new windshield wipers. So I got new wipers and a new sticker. Fast forward to today when I was told by the inspector at Prestige that I need new wipers or I wouldnt pass the inspection. Here is the scam. State inspection is $37 pass or fail. If you fail you need to make repairs and then have the car inspected for another $37. The wiper blades which are a year old and rarely used apparently were so bad that Prestige would fail me if they were not replaced. Lucky for me they just so happened to have a new set that they could put on my car right then and there. What was I to do? Option A would be to take a failed inspection sticker, fork over my $37, go to Sears, fork over another $30 for new blades, then come back, fork over another $37 dollars for another inspection and get my passed sticker. Option A would have cost me $97 plus the time to go to Sears. Or option B, buy the $30 wiper blades from the conflict of interest, state inspector at Prestige on top of the $37 state inspection fee and leave only $67 poorer then when I arrived. I went with option B. I bent over and took it. But I am not going to be quiet about it. Here is the rub. While I was waiting for the inspection the owner, or manager (not sure) noticed my iPad. He showed me with pride how easy it was to google his establishment and then went so far as to give himself a five star rating. But he didnt hit submit. So now I am going to post a two star rating to let him know that for a lousy extra $30 he just cost himself a customer. Also Ill post this to my 31,000 Twitter followers for good measure.

My car broke down due to a chain of problems a couple months ago. I had no battery power because my alternator failed because the tensioner belt snapped because of a huge oil leak. My car was towed in around 2am (this is the only reason why they get a "1"). They assessed the problem and estimated the cost at around $1200.00. Instead of fixing the core of the problem i.e., the oil leak, they only replaced parts, that is, the tensioner belt and alternator. They told me they found the leak and also replaced the crank seal. Today I go to get my oil changed and I still have exactly the same oil leak, everywhere. Step 1 is to clean the oil then step 2, locate the leak(s) and step 3, fix the leak(s). Prestige never did that although my invoice says they fixed the leak. They only replaced parts so that I have to come back and replace them again. I spoke with the manager Ralphie (mind you my car is already getting serviced) to address the issue and instead of providing a solution, hes more concerned with where my car is at right now. I asked him how he could know where the oil leak is coming from if he never cleaned the oil. His response, "I dont remember." Currently I am waiting to hear the diagnosis on my car this time around. PLEASE save your time, your money, and your sanity and avoid this place. This is exactly the kind of place that would be interviewed on abc nightly news! Instead, check out the auto body shops on 38th Street at 11th Ave. They are extraordinarily honest and wait for your presence so you may assess the problem yourself.

Often some car services charged me several hundreds of extra dollars when doing my car inspection. My friends often told me that I was ripped off by these car inspection services. Thus recently I searched on line for honest car inspection services and I was happy to find NY Prestige Inc. The survey showed NY Prestige Inc is not only honest, but also fast, efficient and provides work of high quality. So I went to NY Prestige Inc for my car inspection this year and oil change. Indeed, NY Prestige Inc. provided the best Auto service I have ever experienced. The manager and staff members are polite, fast, honest, and they provide best quality of work without charging any unnecessary extra fees. I drove to NY Prestige Inc. in the morning of a Saturday. I thought that I had to wait for hours to get the inspection + oil change done as my previously experienced at all other car inspection stations. But a Prestige staff member (His name was Robert, if I remember correctly) and the manager politely greeted me immediately and told me that they would start to do the work immediately. I was happy for the prompt response. There is a next door grocery shop, and I went there for a quick shop ~ 20 minutes. When I came back to Prestige, I was surprised to learn that all the work I requested was done (obviously less that 20 minutes) and my car was waiting for me to take off. This is the fastest and best auto inspection service I have ever encountered in US. I highly recommend NY Prestige Inc. to all the car owners.

Ill try to keep this as short as possible. Im a PA resident but work in NY and had to get my car towed there recently when it died in Midtown. Waited around for an entire day and was told they had to go deeper into the car to find the problem, so I left it there and went back to PA. 2 days later I called and was told the car was ready and could be picked up. Two days later I called AGAIN to double check that the car was ready ( I live 3 hours away from this place!!!) and was told...AGAIN....yes the car is ready, come get it. I made the THREE HOUR trip out to Harlem and guess what? "Oh I made a mistake, that wasnt your car, and your car has a very big problem." So another guy starts a spiel about how he "tried to call me but the call didnt go through" (a total lie in case you werent sure) and , surprise surprise, my car needs a new engine that is going to cost around THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS. In case you missed anything, I called these people TWICE to make absolutely sure my car was ready, was told TWICE that my car was ready and the bill was $244. I made the THREE HOUR TRIP to the place to get the car, was told it was in fact NOT ready, and it was going to cost me THREE GRAND. After somehow managing to not kill anyone, I ultimately had it towed to another garage in Union City. Guess what? The car needed a new battery and another minor thing that my warranty covered. Grand total was about $140. Slightly better than $3,000. These guys are either outright criminals or horribly inept mechanics.
