I am logging on to post an update: the review from the woman who claims to have observed classes with her son is completely unfounded, as no one observes the classes at Blue Moon. Occasionally there are people in the front room who are waiting for class or picking students up but never once was there a woman and her son observing the class in question; hip hop is usually held in the back studio where there is no room for observers anyway. I also do not remember her daughter but with adult classes, you get out of the class what you put into it. It is a shame that a grown woman with children has chosen to slander a young teacher with no thought to the impact her words might have on that teachers career. I have worked closely with Sara for years; I have had extensive dance training with a variety of teachers and I would not continue to pay to attend a studio where the teaching was sub-par. Sara attends workshops and classes on a regular basis to stay up to date on the latest trends and developments in hip hop; she teaches new choreography from scratch every class and her dances are creative, fast-paced and fun. I am a very advanced dancer and still find the classes challenging, so perhaps this particular young girl just did not belong in the class. In regard to my friendship with Sara, I did not know her before I enrolled in Blue Moon; however, I enjoy her classes so much that our friendship naturally developed over the years. That has no relevance to discussing the dance studio and it was completely unnecessary to mention that. I would have posted a glowing review no matter how well I knew her. The point of posting reviews on here is to discuss the business as a whole, not to attack one particular individual in some sort of personal vendetta. This is my fourth year at this studio. As someone who has danced for over twenty years and taken classes at four studios, I can say with complete confidence that the adult hip hop, jazz, lyrical, and ballet teacher Sara is one of the best instructors I have ever had. It is difficult to teach adults, especially adults with a lot of experience; Sara does a fantastic job continually challenging me and after training with her, my technique, and really my dancing in its entirety, is better than ever. She also keeps it interesting with creative choreography and her enthusiasm for dance and for her job as an instructor shines through on a daily basis. The owners are also willing to accommodate the needs and interests of the adults; they recognize that balancing a full-time work schedule with dance classes can be difficult and it is great to have a studio that has as many adult opportunities as Blue Moon does. Adults can also choose to perform in the recital at the end of the year, which is a fun way to track progress and see dances develop from start to finish. I was very surprised to see any negative feedback about the adult classes, as my experience with Blue Moon, and with Sara in particular, has been a very positive one. You get out of these classes what you put into them, and my guess is that those people did not reap the full benefits of the classes because they did not recognize that. All in all, I would strongly recommend this studio, and particularly Sara, to anyone interested in learning beautiful routines, developing technique, and getting a fun and exciting workout in a relaxed and friendly environment.

I am not Meg and I wrote a positive post and I also happen to have been a dancer for over 18 years and taught a competitive dance team for 5 years at a great studio. The dance world is a place meant for creativity and relationship building. When you are a teacher you need to build rapport with your students to gain trust and acceptance. Otherwise, how would we know that when they tell us to plie after coming out of a jump that they are trustworthy and credible? Also, I was fortunate enough not to have google reviews and yelp when I was teaching because the mothers of dancers thought every single child of theirs was an absolute star and should be featured in every dance and as a professional I was not about to put their kid who rarely attended classes, had an attitude, and no desire to learn in the front of my dance. I would have gotten horrible reviews, but guess what? My competitive teams won, I was a very popular teacher, and when I left half of my class went with me. The true measure of a great teacher is not popularity, but results and from what I can see the dances and dancers Sara produces are great.

I would not recommend this business. I have a 3 year old who was very excited for her first dance class. We bought her ballet and tap shoes and a new outfit and talked through what dance class would be like. Less than 48 hours before the class was scheduled to start, we got a phone call telling us the class was cancelled because of poor attendance. While I understand, that a business may not be able to run a class with too few students, I have never (and I have 3 kids) had an organization give me only 48 hours notice that they have cancelled. This left me no time to find an alternative and left my three-year-old heartbroken. Additionally, the phone call did not start with the typical "We are very sorry, but....". Instead, we were told the class was being cancelled and when I complained that less than 48 hours was far too little time to allow me to do anything else, the answer was "What do you want me to do about it?". If anyone has any ideas for an alternative that we can sign up for on short notice, it would be appreciated.

My son attended a hip-hop class here. I was a dancer for 20+ years and from my all around perspective this studio is basic and unexperienced. There was no technique established and the dance instructors were just going through the motions. My sons friend is on a team but the ages range from 5-12 years. This lack of technique is giving these kids false knowledge and while it may be fun for them its a waste of the parents time. If you are looking for your child to be a successful dancer, I would look elsewhere.

Bad Business Practice! For sure! My fiancee and I got a $250 gift cert and then her father got sick and we could not do anything for about a year, well a year and a day later I called to see if they would honor it. Guess what, they said I was a little late and they cant. Worst business ever and so rude. Never will get any recommendations from me, and I know a lot of people getting married in the next year....

Great and highly recommended. From personal experience, the ballroom dancing classes for beginners and novices is outstanding. Very well taught, challenging fun. Martin and Laura are great instructors: patient, knowledgeable and very personable. And while I dont have direct experience with the kids programs, I sometimes see them leaving their class - happy, excited and proud of themselves.
