First of all, everybody who wrote a negative review is probably just UNPROFESSIONAL and doesnt know how to show up to an interview and how to present themselves at an interview - even if it is "only" at a staffing agency. I was in desperate need for a job for about 2 months, and applied everywhere... but not even Wal-Mart called me back. As an immigrant, it really hard to find a job even if you have a ton of experience and speak English fluently. All they see is your foreign sounding name and a new SSN and they dont even give you a chance. Anyway, I applied for about every job I came across and finally, when I almost gave up, AJ from Silverman called me back. At first, the position sounded fishy - high pay, easy job. Nonetheless, I showed up to the interview (dressed professionally and armed with my resume and references!), but prior to it I filled out an online assessment showing them my data entry/listening/customer service skills. I didnt even know what company I would work for until I came in for the interview, but that was alright. My first impression was that their office is really nice... after I sat down with AJ, he gave me some forms to fill out and asked me about my background, why I moved to the USA and about my experience. After about an hour he said he will get his boss, Faye, to talk to me. Faye is a really sweet woman, and as far as I know the co-owner of S/M. She gave me tips on how to improve my resume and told me about the job specifics, and even about my possible supervisor. We agreed that I send AJ my renewed resume and she will try and arrange an interview for me. About two days later I got a call from her, saying that I will have an interview the following week and asked me to come in a second time, in order for her to prepare me for the interview. She was very motivating, friendly and just straight up AWESOME. The day of the interview I knew everything I had to know, I was prepared, showed up in a suit about 15 minutes early and had copies of my resume, I practiced how I will present myself and just did everything to present myself as good as possible. And guess what? I GOT THE JOB! Then, the day before my new job finally started she even called me to wish me good luck on my first day. S/M is a wonderful temp agency, and I would always recommend them. Faye and AJ are great people who helped me out so much - without them I would probably still be running after a minimum wage job at McDonalds. If you are confident in what you are doing and sincerely looking for a good position, contact them. And think about it people: temp agencies get paid by big companies to get them QUALITY candidates for job openings. If you come into a temp agency dressed like a slob, they wont arrange an interview for you because it would pretty much embarrass them in front of their client, which would probably lead to them getting cut off by their client.

I first heard about Silverman McGovern back in 2014 from one of my coworkers while on a temporary contract assignment at CVS Health, where I was placed by a different agency. We worked there for nearly 6 months because our positions were extended. The following year our teams funding fell through and we all went our separate ways. Recently, during April of this year I found myself on the job market again. Scrolling through the job boards, I found an add for and Associate Project Manager and I applied for the position online. The next day I was contacted for an interview. Not long after, I went in the office to meet with AJ and Alona. The overall interview experience was one of the best Ive ever had. These are down to earth people who make you feel comfortable and are not intimidating at all. The entire process was fast and easy, straight forward, honest and hassle free. I applied for the position at the beginning of May and started working the first week of June. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a long term opportunity. Ive worked with other agencies in the past, they will lock you into a contract with a noncompete agreement. Then you must wait a min time period before you can be hired by the company you were assigned to. At Silverman McGovern, I havent heard of any such discrepancies. The opportunity for an easy transition to permanent placement is made available to you. The rate of pay offered is fair and competitive with market salary rate. What I like most about this Silverman McGovern is that they have been in business for over 10+ years. They have built and maintained honest working relationships with companies which makes the hiring process relaxed and natural. I believe they truly live up there motto and are "Connecting Great People With Great Companies".

I have been with SM for almost a year now and have not had any luck yet. My contact found me a couple potential positions, put me through and that was it. I currently work with several other Staffing Agencies and this one is by far the worst one. As far as Im concerned they are supposed to contact you with a position to see if its something youd like, and if it is, they will "introduce" you to the client. You can say no anytime you want. You are never pressured to say yes to any of these clients. I said no thank you to a previous position... My contact kept telling me that I should take the position/phone call, that it would be such a great role for me, that accepting this would guarantee me at other XYZ Companies and that it wasnt far from my home at all..."only 12 miles from the city to be exact" Then I look up the company and its 1.5 hours away...So I finally took the call for the phone interview only to find out its a toy company no one has ever heard of and it would be a project by project/only when needed basis. So again, I said no thank you to my contact at Silverman McGovern..and it stopped there. Not once since then have I been contacted to see how Im doing, or to even follow up with any positions. I emailed SEVERAL times to reach out and follow up on upcoming roles...but yet again, NO RESPONSE!!! The other 4 or 5 other agencies that Im with will literally call you several times a day to follow up with you and let you know of certain positions that would be a fit. They will send you countless emails for positions....Silverman McGovern is such a WASTE OF TIME! They dont help you, they dont offer their services, and they dont even seem to care to see you succeed in placing a role for you. Dont waste your time.. There are plenty of other Agencies to go with.

About two weeks ago I walked into their office and was told I needed to schedule an appointment for the following day. While I thought this was strange considering it was 10 am and there were people there clearly not too busy to speak with me, I agreed. I came back the following day and spoke with Faye Silverman, who is not only a "staffing specialist" but co-founder of the company. Things seemed to be going well, and she told me she would email me a series of assessments to complete when I got home to better assist her in placing me at a company. After three emails, two phone calls and 14 days I have still yet to receive these testing materials. Faye left me a message yesterday and acted all surprised that she "hadnt heard from me" and when I called her back literally 7 minutes later, she was on the phone busy, again, and was unable to speak to me. I was then informed they had something I might be interested in, which turned out to be an assignment described as sporadic, that involved working three days at a time randomly over a two month period starting at the end of September. Like are you serious? Unless this position paid an exorbitant amount of money, its insulting to offer this to anyone, let alone a college graduate such as myself. If you are looking to find an agency and be assisted finding work in a tough economy, go elsewhere. Dont let their nice office fool you, these people are worthless. Maybe reading a series of poor reviews will encourage them to actually do their jobs. The only thing I wish is that I could somehow give them no stars in this review because even labeling them as poor is complimentary to their performance.
