I have been to many old fashioned barber shops like this one over the years. My hair cut is very simple and nobody had ever messed it up before I visited this place. I sat down and told the woman exactly what I wanted shortened and exactly how short I wanted it. She took it upon herself to dramatically shorten my eyebrows, such that they are barely visible from a distance. I would have objected, but by the time I realized what was happening most of one was already gone. She also decided to take my sideburns all the way to the top of the ear when they were already at the correct level and I didnt tell her to change them. The effect that these things had on my face is extremely unflattering. If you arent able to tell a barber what you want then it is excusable for them to make some judgement calls regarding things like sideburns, but it should have been clear from my very specific description that I knew exactly what I wanted. A barber should never, ever touch your facial hair when they havent been told to and they havent asked. I am downright angry that she would do that to my eyebrows, not to mention a little embarrassed to be seen in public like this. The haircut is also extremely asymmetrical when viewed directly from the back, and she didnt clean up around the edges at all. I can only assume that she was having a bad day, or this place would surely have no repeat customers. Still, if a barber cant do a good job every time then they are not a good barber.

I have been getting my hair cut there since before the turn of the century. I keep coming back because it has the feeling of the barber shops from when I was kid in the 60s. Nice people and good service at a reasonable price.
