This has not been the best experience for me. I have had several concerns emailed to the owner and main instructor, and I have had my emails ignored. This studio is very unprofessional with its favoritism towards certain dancers, leaving the other dancers feeling excluded and upset. I do not want to rate this facility one star, because the dancers are amazing, it is just the instructor and owner. This claims to be a "non competitive" studio and that is true with the dancing, but not the environment. The dancers have to compete with one another just to be a favorite to get the attention they want. I am happy that I will be sending my child to another dance studio for her remaining dance years.

I am a recent graduate from Art in Motion Dance Center. I didnt start my dance career until my sophomore year, but at Art in Motion, I did not feel as if starting my dance career later than most girls limited my experience. The girls at the studio are all very welcoming and every year, as we welcome more girls and boys to the studio, we create a truly amazing family. Getting a later start only meant that I had to work harder to achieve my goals, but with the help of the instructors and other girls, I found it very easy to excel and become familiar with dance. The three years that I spent at the studio were truly amazing and I would give anything to be able to go back.

The owners of the studio strive to create a place where students are excited to learn various styles of dance while making long-lasting friendships. The unique collaboration between the business manager and artistic director is very inspiring and clearly working well as the dance center has acquired over 40 new dancers since opening this business. It is a great place for dance!

Art In Motion and its staff is AMAZING!! Having come from another studio 4 years ago, we enjoy the non-competitive atmosphere which allows the dancers to enjoy and embrace the beauty of Dance. We also appreciate the individual attention each dancer receives in order to comprehend and implement the techniques required to be a solo dancer as well as a teammate/group. The "non-competitive" statement above is a joke! This is not the place to go if you value your family. No break in practices for Mothers Day, Christmas Vacation, and other holiday times. The lead instructor makes sure all the children know that she does not observe Christian holidays and does not support those who do. AND...we had dress rehearsals until after 10pm on the night before SOLs. The owners will not respond to emails or calls about concerns.

I came to this studio after dancing at another Roanoke studio. The instructors at Art in Motion care about the art of dance rather than winning an award at a competition. The friendships and role models I gained here are irreplaceable. If I ever have children that want to dance and I live in Roanoke, they will of course be coming here. Thank you to all of the instructors for a great several years here, miss you all!
