I wont be going back to Westside. Today, I was taking care of my eight-year old nephew. I brought him with me so that my 15-year old son and I could get our hair cut. My nephew is pretty well-behaved for his age. When we arrived for my appointment, they asked us to sit in the back of the shop. Fine. So we did. My nephew (hes very shy) began to tentatively explore the area where we were sitting. He was quickly met with a not-so-nice reprimand from the shop-owner, Frankie, telling him to stop touching things. So he did. I told him he should go apologize. Being shy, it took a lot to convince him to do so. Very meekly, he approached one of the barbers and quietly, haltingly told her he was sorry, The look on her face was that of a person swatting away a mosquito. She told him very brusquely, "Thats fine. You need to go sit down." We should have left then. But we didnt. After my haircut and as we waited for my sons haircut, Frankie approached us and told us we couldnt sit in the back of the store; we had to move to the front. Shortly thereafter, I saw Frankie closely inspecting the seats we had just been sitting in. I heard her muttering something about "damage". Weird. My nephew and I sat in the front of the store the rest of the time as my son got his hair cut. His "misbehavior" there in the front of the store consisted of standing up and sitting down several times. We paid for the haircuts and left. About five minutes later, a call came in on my phone from Westside as we were driving away. Thinking that perhaps I had left an item at the shop like my credit card, I answered. The girl on the phone (I didnt get her name) blurted out that her boss (Frankie) asked her to call me and say that they really appreciate my business at Westside, but that in the future I could not bring "my kid" with me to the shop. My nephew (they thought he was "my kid") was sitting right behind me in the car. Not wanting to compound his existing shyness and social anxiety by making him feel like he had caused a problem, I said, "Sure, no problem" instead of reacting angrily or asking questions. The call, however, was not cool and it is a problem. My son, who was sitting right next to me in the car heard the whole conversation. When I hung up, he looked at me and said, "Are you kidding me?" How did Westside know my eight-year old socially anxious nephew wouldnt have also heard the call and been devastated? Of course, I guess its fine that they have a no children policy at Westside. But its not fine if they dont tell you that up-front. There is no obvious sign or indication that Westside is off-limits to children or adults with children. If you dont want kids in your shop, post that information somewhere that it cant be missed! Otherwise, you create situations like the one we experienced today where kids could get hurt. Are we all simply supposed to divine that Frankie and the staff at Westside are kid-haters? Dont be shy about that vibe! Put a big sign in the front window letting us know the rules. And what of the villainess in this story, Frankie, and her inability to stand children? She strikes me as an odd, over-the-hill, overly made-up, Baroness Bomburst sort of character so dismayed by the disappearance of her own youth that she cant stomach the sight of playful children because, in her vanity, they remind her that she herself is growing ever older. For that sin, they must be banished and kept out of sight. And by the way, the hair cuts there are expensive. Id say theyre only marginally better than Great Clips and much more than marginally more spendy. Avoid this place.

This place is great! I recently moved into the area and was looking for a new barber shop. Westside is walking distance from my house so I ambled over one afternoon. The staff greeted me warmly and said they could take me in a few minutes. Cool! My cut is simple enough, but the barber was very skilled with texturing it so that it layed the way I wanted it too without too much fuss. She even gave me some easy styling tips. I also really like that they give you the option to book your next appointment, as I am one of those who lets theyre hair go far too long. Highly recommend!

The skinhead running the place told me that my 7 year daughter was not welcome while I got my hair cut. Then he ask me if I wanted to get a cut for her, so I asked how much that would cost and he said $25. Then he said that that they could not cut here hair either. ....WTF, why did you ask me? This crap is not going to fly in West Seattle. There are a lot of kids here, and little room for kid haters. You need to take that crap elsewhere. I have never had this problem in any barber shop before.

Frankie is definitely the best barber in the area. Ive been to a few other places nearby, and nothing comes close to the cut she gave me. She talked about my hair and what look I was going for in detail before starting the cut, discussed options, and truly seemed like she wanted to give me the best cut possible. She really works hard to make sure youre happy with your cut, is great to talk with, and did a killer job!

Note on door says, "ATTENTION: If you currently have marijuana on you or have recently been in contact with any, unfortunately we must refuse service due to a life threatening allergy. Thank you for your understanding." While its true there may be some people who have allergic reaction to certain plants such as marijuana, Ive never heard of anybody having "life-threatening" conditions from being exposed.

This is the place for a haircut in Seattle. The shop is always clean, the staff is always friendly and its in a great location. Frankie cuts my hair most of the time, but I have had other staff members hook me up and the results are great. Im very impressed at how the store is continuously cleaned. For a great haircut, give the Westside a go, theyre hard work gets my vote for sure.

As long as you have an idea of what you want, these guys are great. Nick has cut my hair (curly thick guy hair) several times now and makes it look great. No, youre not going to get massaged with baby oil and they probably wont compliment your figure, but if youre looking for a better cut and more consistency than great clips or those other chains you wont be disappointed.

Great place! Was unsure about going to a barbershop for a womans haircut, but I was very pleased with the results! I am quite picky when it comes to my bob and usually will find various things wrong with my cut. Its been a week and so far so good! Goodbye to spending a ton of money on my hair, hello Westside! Will be trying them out for color soon!

Ive been going to these guys for a while and they are the best when it comes to cool cuts and color! The staff is always game for trying new styles, keeping me looking fabulous! I highly recommend making an appointment if your headed there after work, but they do take walk ins too! All around an awesome place to take your hair!
