My experience with Capstone was one of the worst experiences that I have had with any service industry company - ever. Capstone was hired to construct an approximately 350 sf, $105,000 addition to my home; the addition was required to make my house more accessible for my wife who has several physical disabilities. I was conned into what ended up being a very expensive scam; by the time Capstone left the job there was an estimated $150,000 worth of defects in the new construction and damage to my existing home and property. I was lied to by Capstone from the beginning. 1. They agreed that the construction would be completed in approximately 2 ½ month. It took nearly 6 months. 2. The job supervisor did not inspect the work; If the job supervisor did show up he only showed once or twice a week for about 15 minutes; the job supervisor was unable to read construction documents or understand construction very well; if he was confronted with a construction error he would just come up with a line of B.S. and not address the issue. 3. 7 out of 18 of the subcontractors were not licensed even though Capstone put into writing that all their subcontractors are licensed and bonded; A good portion of the employees and subcontractors could not read English or understand construction documents, most were just basically handymen; literally every trade produced defective work – a sampling of the defects: excavator damaged the underground plumbing, exposed rebar in the foundation, sloppy concrete work on the interior and exterior slabs and walls, foundation work that is not constructed per the construction documents, framing that does not align from floor to floor, framing that was critical to be framed plumb and square that was not, the roof was framed at the wrong slope, the wrong windows were installed and windows were installed at the wrong height, all of the hardwood and LVT flooring was installed improperly which voids the warrantees, all the door were installed improperly, improper plumbing installation that diminished any usable water flow, light switches mounted about 12” to low, improper HVAC ducting, improper exterior siding and trim installation, incorrect roof flashing, improper roofing installation that allows the roof to leak substantially, leaking rain gutters, improper attic ventilation, poor quality interior trim work, unequal rod iron baluster spacing at the interior guardrail, damage to existing tile and carpet flooring throughout, incomplete painting, broke three interior stairs, and damaged two skylights. None of these or any of the many other item were corrected before Capstone and their subcontractors left the job. 4. It was agreed that Capstone would completely seal off the existing house from the construction area during demolition and construction. Capstone failed to seal of the existing house which resulted in the entire existing house and all of its contents being covered in an extremely thick layer of dust. In addition there was no winter protection provided to the exposed living spaces during the entire winter. 5. It was understood that Capstone was being hired to be the General Contractor because I did not have any time to devote to being my own contractor due to my heavy work load at my job as an Architect. I ended up spending well over 100 hours of my time doing Capstone job of attempting to make sure that the construction moved along and was somewhat conforming to the construction documents. I held back a portion of the contract funds owed while I attempted several times to work with Capstone on compensating me for all the defects and damages; we agreed to mediate a settlement on compensation in good faith, however Capstone decided to blackmail me into settling into being compensated for pennies on the dollar for the defects and damages or they would take me and my wife to court if I attempted to settle for more. So in conclusion, if you don’t want to be scammed and end up with substantial defective construction like we did, I would recommend that you not even consider Capstone.

Capstone was recommended to us by our insurance company when we experienced extensive water damage from the heavy snowfall of several years ago. We were in a crisis, and Capstone responded with the speed of a 911 call. Not only were Mike Nolan and his crew exceptionally professional, experienced master craftsmen, friendly and courteous, they were compassionate and understanding of the emotional toil we experienced. Throughout the rather lengthy process the crew worked diligently to restore our home, and our sanity, as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality. The crew was always here when they said they would be, and if there were issues with material order delays, etc., they let us know immediately. Communication at all levels was outstanding; we always felt we were in the loop and part of the “team”. The finished product was superior, and we could not have been more impressed with Mike and his crew’s outstanding craftsmanship. When we were ready this last summer to make upgrades to our home we did not hesitate to call on Capstone again, and knew there was no need to solicit other bids. This time our first contact was with Shay Cummings who provided the estimate for the work we wanted done. Shay took his time and addressed each possible upgrade with utmost professionalism. He told us honestly that one project’s energy upgrade would be more costly than the benefit we hoped to achieve; we so appreciated his outstanding work ethic. Our overall estimate was more than reasonable so we went to work. JR Silva and his crew, Adam and Stacy, completed the projects, and we completely echo all of our previous comments regarding the water damage project. What a crew! What a company! We will call on Capstone for all our future construction needs, and will not hesitate to recommend them to our friends, neighbors, and family. With much gratitude, Woody and Karlene Hyer

Im writing in regards to what I have witnessed and not as an actual customer. Id give five stars except Im still waiting on an estimate from three weeks ago - way too long in my opinion. So, my neighbor across the street had a tree fall on their house from a storm and damage from a resulting fire. These guys worked all through the winter in all kinds of weather. They clean up the work site - none of us have had to pick up their wind blown debris from our yards. They dont blast their music, so you dont even really notice them except for their coming and goings. The thing that impressed me most of all though was what happened after an incident. One of the contractors parked in front of another neighbors trash & recycle bins and the trucks couldnt reach them. The truck drivers left a note explaining why he didnt pick up the waste. Once the contractor came back to his vehicle, he saw the note and realized his error. Instead of leaving it all for my neighbors to deal with he and the construction workers emptied out the canisters and hauled it away. The garbage went to the waste facility and the recycling went to the sort facility. I have never known anyone to do something like this before. Usually its a case of "Hey, man, not my problem". But not with the guys from Capstone. They not only solved the problem, they did the right thing. They just as easily could have taken the trash and recycling to the same place, but they didnt.

We had a house fire 2 years ago, in the end we lost most of the upstairs of our craftsman house, plus had water damage on the main floor from the fire department putting out the fire. Our insurance company, State Farm, gave us a list of preferred contractors, Capstone and 4 others were on that list. My wife researched the 5, Capstone stood out, and after meeting with them, we felt very comfortable with them and hired them to restore our house. Since the whole upstairs was basically ruined and needed work, we had an opportunity to make some improvements above and beyond what we started with, so we worked with Capstone to add on a few additional improvements that insurance didnt cover. The crew, and their work, was awesome. Over the course of the 4-month rebuild I would drop by about 3 times per week to get updates and chat with the crew. Sometimes theyd have questions about how wed want something done, etc, so it helped to visit and catch up. Mark, Andy, Larry and Tyler (and 2 others, dont remember their names) did fantastic work, and most of it they did themselves. They sub contracted out the drywall. The drywaller put a pretty heavy texture on the ceiling which my wife and I really didnt like, they came back out and fixed it, it wasnt a hassle at all. In the end our house came out amazing, better than before. What I expected to be a battle and frustration wasnt one bit, these guys did great work.
