My wife and daughter went to a class at Tucson Academy of Music and Dance (hosted by a Ms. Nancy) today (3/27/12) as part of the Oro Valley Moms group. When I got home from work, I asked my wife how the class went, and she broke down in tears. It appears that Ms. Nancy told my wife that my daughter was too young (shes 15 months) and singled her out. My wife said that they way Ms. Nancy said this was off-putting. Your studio should have known the age of the children attending, as the play group is for kids born in 2010, so they could be from my daughters age on the young end and a little over 2 on the high end. If this was not communicated to you, then fine, but Ms. Nancy didnt have to be rude about it. My wife said that my daughter behaved herself better than many of the older kids that ran around and didnt listen. Again, at the end of the class, Ms. Nancy had to come over and reiterate that my daughter is way too young (there was another child attending the class that is the exact same age as my daughter to the day, but Ms. Nancy didnt say a word to her mom). My wife said that Ms. Nancys purpose in hosting the playgroup was to get the word out about kindermusic. Well, she failed miserably. You cant be a jerk and expect to get good word of mouth. I will personally give your studio horrible reviews on every review website I can find, and I will also tell other parents with children my daughters age to stay away from your studio due to the cold and judgmental attitude of your instructor. Ms. Nancy, you really blew a good opportunity to make a good impression and get good word of mouth.

Piano teacher ended up yelling and saying mean things to my child for not pedaling the way she wanted her to. We had taken lessons with her for 1.5 years and were becoming less and less satisfied with her ability to teach but that sealed the deal and we never came back. Teacher had always seemed uncomfortable with parents knowing what was going on in there. Crazy and not a good place for kids. Owner also frequently rude, very rule bound and liked to control us, and seems to enjoy nickel and diming her customers. We participated in programs there off and on for about 4 years. One time owner signed us up for two classes after I told her no, billed us and then rudely called me when I didnt show up and told me I owed her for the classes. Cant believe I went back several years later. Bad move. Many poor quality teachers as well and students with really bad technique. Really hate this place. Do not go there.

My children have been students of the Music and Dance Academy for over 5 years. We have done Kindermusik, Orff, private violin, private guitar, ensemble violin, and ensemble guitar. My children even tried their feet at a dance class! I wholeheartedly recommend the Music and Dance Academy to anyone looking for music lessons (dance lessons too!).
