Absolutely wonderful! Struck out 3 times going to various barbers nearby which all had a language barrier. The owner of the store as well as all the workers who happen to be close family are all equally skilled as a friend and I went in there looking like a disaster and walked out looking like we were ready for a photoshoot. I received what would normally cost $45 for a 1/3 of the price. After explaining my issue the owner took the responsibility to ask in detail both at the beginning and throughout the haircut about how I wanted everything pausing from time to time to respect my need to put on my glasses to check out my cut in the mirror as I have horrible vision. The owner not only did an excellent and detailed job but he is a vary friendly, humorous, and respectful US Marie Corps veteran who has been cutting hair since he was in his teens. The store has a classic American environment and seems to be very popular. Having gone to dozens of barbers of all prices and quality all over the place this is by far the best place to get an excellent haircut without paying an arm and a leg. Costs less than what the other cheap chain barbers charged yet gave me double the quality. These people are truely passionate about their job and are not doing it just for the money like others. They make it nice and affordable and charge just to cover costs and put you as a priority. This place will be where I will be going to from now on! Highly recommended!

I have been getting my hair cut at Grand Barber Shop for the past 8 years and I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience every time. This is an “old school” barbershop replete with Sports Illustrated, Playboy, and Maxim magazines on the rack, pictures of men with hair styles dating back to the ‘70s on wood paneled walls, a sword and pistol mounted on the wall, and lots of great conversation among good people. For those with children, don’t let the reading materials deter you. This place has toys and DVDs for kids, and the barbers are very friendly toward children; especially Laura, who never forgets to ask me how my daughter is doing. (My daughter will be getting her hair cut at this shop once she has enough hair to cut.) I must add that I have had my hair cut by Kathryn several times and I have been fully satisfied. If Kathryn has a fault, it is merely the fact that she is not very proactive about asking people if they would like to get their hair cut by her. Her personality is not as strong, nor is she as outgoing as Jerry and Laura, but that does not mean her skills as a barber are lacking. If you are pressed for time, Kathryn’s queue is usually much shorter than Jerry and Laura’s, so don’t hesitate to fill her chair.

This is the best barber shop around. It is owned by two great people, Laura and Jerry. I have been going to these two since before I could talk. These guys gave me my 2nd haircut in my life. Yes a lot of time has passed since then, but I have NEVER gone anywhere else in my life (forgetting my first Haircut in Waco TX XD). They are the nicest people you could meet. They have a TV with lots of kid friendly movies. They serve people of all ages. Babies to seniors. Jerry has a beautiful car collection and the old-style building adds a lot to the atmosphere. BUT A LITTLE WORD OF WISE.................. Do not go to the farthest chair. It is owned by an older woman who was not among the original owners. ASK FOR JERRY OR LAURA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if the older woman offers you a beard or trim cut, just say no and say that you know Jerry or Laura and you want them to cut your hair. Prices are great, around 12 for children and 15 for adults. They also have discounts for seniors! Really guys this place is the best go to Jerry or Laura and describe what you want...THEY ALWAYS GET IT RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to this barber shop for years, went to shops closer to home, then went back because it was always the same barbers rather than never knowing who youd get—and they know that chatting is part of their charm. But the last couple of times they showed a fatal flaw: Their estimate of time is a fantasy. I liked one barber till I realized he takes 45 minutes to an hour to cut my barely-there head of hair, so I had to go in when he wasnt working. The last time the place was full, so I asked "How longs the wait?" 15 minutes, two barbers said. I waited 50 minutes and people there when I arrived still were waiting. All those years of experience and they cant say accurately how long before they get to me? Inexcusable.

Quite rude and made me wait for over an half hour. This is a hole in the wall shop so the service is quickly to come in & out. Customers were complaining about being promised a low price on the phone and then being charged a higher price in person. The haircuts had to be redone as mothers or family members complained about it not being done right first time around or even the second time around. Service is very slow in waiting and even the haircut takes a while. The floors were dirty with not just obviously hair but wrappers of sorts and papers. All around if BBB would go more after little shops theres no question this place wouldve closed as soon as it opened.

Been going here for a few years now, if youre looking for a salon styled cut, this is not the place for you. They do old school traditional barber cuts and they do it extremely well. Does the place look a little worn...Yes! but thats because theyve been in business for over 20 years, and still going strong. They are consistently busy, (In my opinion, always a good sign) but you can call ahead to see if there is a wait. Most of the time you can get in pretty quickly, but occasionally they are so busy there are 4-6 people waiting. Bottom line....very worth it, there are not many place you can get a decent haircut for under $20.00..

I was visiting from Chicago a friend of mine who now lives in El Cerrito CA, I looked everywhere to get a haircut and came across this place. I went there and I had a very nice experience. It looks like the guy is a vet, old school place, very charming and the people working there are very very friendly. The haircut was about $16, but it was worthy. Very detailed, theres parking right next to the shop, they take cash only. I will definitely recommend it, and if I happen to be in town and a haircut is needed, I will definitely stop by this place again.

The Grand Barber Shop is a place for people who want a quality and reasonably priced haircut. They primarily cater to a local crowd, with only 4 chairs, there is occasionally a wait but is always worth it. Their experience is instantly recognizable with the owner, Jerry, working at the front with his retired military demeanor and his army influenced trims. Every barber has experience and makes you want to come back.

I really like this place. Its an old school barbershop style place. Rosa has cut my hair a few times now and shes often able to let me know ahead of time if she is busy or if I can just walk in and get a haircut right then and there. I highly recommend it! The use of the strait age razor was new and is actually quite nice! The prices are particularly reasonable too!
