I joined Crossfit Gold Rush because I was looking for a gym with a sense of community. I was a member of a different gym in town but I didnt like working out by myself and the group aerobics-type classes were not at all fun for me. I wanted to rediscover the camaraderie of sports teams that I had had as a kid and teenager but I couldnt figure out how to get this as an adult. The first class I did at Crossfit Gold Rush (a free intro on a Saturday) was made up of simple, foundational movements and yet it was a brutally good workout. I couldnt wait to go back. Now my spouse has joined as well and we both love it. I recommend Crossfit Gold Rush over other gyms in the Grass Valley/Nevada City area without any hesitation. Andi, Jesse, Taylor, Cam and the other coaches and staff are talented and fun to work with, the facilities are well-equipped, and the group of athletes is welcoming. Some things I love about CFGR: • I can always find a time to go. The 6 a.m. or 6 p.m. classes are usually most convenient for me but I have also dropped in to the ones in between when my schedule is wonky or I need a midday pick-me-up. • Crossfit Gold Rush offers a discounted family rate. This was a great surprise when my spouse joined; with the types of memberships we chose, together we pay less than 1.5x of what my single membership cost. • The motifs that the Crossfit Gold Rush coaches program into the workouts give a sense of continuity and progress. Some examples I can think of are the current squat hold series we are doing and a near-future posterior chain focus that Cam mentioned this week. Weightlifting Wednesday also fits here: I know that at least one day I week I can put all my energy into learning a new lift or honing my technique. The feeling of accomplishment and growth with this type of programing is amazing. • As a beginner, I have never felt left out or less valuable to the group. Sure, I was surprised the first time the group clapped for when I finished last in a particularly hard workout. But it wasn’t awkward or patronizing. It felt good. I really, really love being able to train alongside athletes who are much more skilled and stronger than I am and know that I am still getting individual attention and personalized training from the coaches. • Being around women who throw weights around for fun is awesome. More than this though, there is room at this gym for all athletes regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. This is can be unusual in athletic communities and especially rare in a smallish town like ours. • The Crossfit Gold Rush coaches have different styles yet are consistent. I never question whether I am going to get a good workout because so-and-so is coaching that morning. The coaches work as a team to provide all the classes with solid leadership and it shows. • The energy and companionship of belonging to this group that sweats, struggles and thrives together is amazing. These are regular people: I see them when I buy my groceries in Grass Valley; they work at my dentist office in Nevada City and the coffee shop closest to my house; they are my coworkers in local government. We are regular people but when we are doing a workout together, we push each other to go harder than we go on our own. We celebrate each other’s personal bests and keep each other accountable. We are strong as a group. We know each other’s names.

CrossFit Gold Rush is more than a gym...its community! I had been a member of another crossfit box in Sacramento before moving to grass valley; the workouts and overall programming were great at the old place, but the atmosphere was not the best fit for me. Coming to CF Gold Rush, I feel like Ive found the perfect crossfit community. The owners and coaches are wonderful people who are sincerely and deeply invested in helping members work hard, gain strength, and develop skills. The emphasis is always on proper form and technique, never "how much can you put up." The members in all the classes are super supportive and very encouraging...everyone here is rooting for each other. For those thinking of switching from a standard gym to crossfit training, do it! ...I mean right now, go and do it, dont waste another second...CF Gold Rush is the complete package!

I absolutely love CrossFit Gold Rush! I have been a member for just over 3 months and it has been a fitness environment unlike one I have ever experienced. Because of the coaches knowledge, work ethic, and integrity, I have advanced in my fitness level more in the last 3 months than ever. Each coach takes the time to ensure members perform proper bio-mechanics of any given skill, and knows when someone needs to scale back or can push harder. CrossFit is for anyone, regardless of fitness level or skill. CFGR shows members how to perform at their current level while at the same time building endurance and strength. In addition to the coaches, the entire CFGR community has been just as fantastic. Everyone is supportive and encouraging of one another making it a positive place to be. I always look forward to going!!

Do you you like America? Well i know i do. And thats why I like CrossFit Gold Rush. Dont be an America Hater and give them a try. Have you ever wanted to eat donuts and have abs? Ya me too. Coach Cameron has taught me the ways of the doughnut and I havent looked back since. And did I mention the Babes? Chicks Galorum. (fancy new word) I mean if youre a chick looking for cute guys. Theres jacked dudes with personality who dont live in their moms basement and you dont have to meet them on JDate. And if donuts and hot bodies werent enough! Everyone is super friendly from the other members to the coaches. You always feel welcome with a sense of community and comradery. Summary: Being a member of CrossFit Gold Rush is like being a unicorn that can shoot Lazer Beams out of your horn. #MINDBLOWN.

Hate going to the gym? Me too. Thats why I love this place. Between the most knowledgable training and coaching staff and friendly members in a social environment, this gym is the reason Im still in shape and didnt give up in 2 or 3 months. The effectiveness of each workout comes from an extremely positive environment to train in. Both the coaches and members are like having a personal trainer and a cheerleading squad at every work out. You have to experience it to believe it. Everyone here seems to remember that there was a time for all of us when we couldnt do a single pull up and no matter how big or small my goals are, everyone is encouraging to help me achieve those goals. Thank you CFGR!

CrossFit Gold Rush has been my home "box" since October of 2013. Ive been both encouraged and challenged in my fitness while learning weightlifting form and mobility techniques alongside the fitness programming. My strength and overall fitness is the best its been in years. Even years-old injuries are better now than theyve ever been, allowing me to enjoy things that had once been painful. Proper movement and appropriate load are priorities in the coaching as is their desire to give clients the tools needed to improve any issues that get in the way of their fitness goals. At CFGR, I dont just feel like a client or a patron of a business, but rather a member of the community.
