I found AAMCO near my house, first time at this repair shop; particularly ads on TV got me curious. Al Tsai, owner, was very helpful to advise me with needed repairs. I just bought the car and knew it needed some work; told Al my budget and priority based on my needs and he was great! Work order # 104153 done in one day. Got my car back the following day. A Tuneup: plugs, wires, cap & rotor, front brakes, belts, gas filter and even got a complementary rear window wiper installed for no charge. I told AL from now on he will be my official mechanic as I felt he was honest and sincere to get the job done for me. Al is the owner for 6 years now he told me; I also inquired about his helpers; who are all good trusted workers. I have made Al @ AAMCO, at this location, my official auto mechanics; I will be back for other needed work done in about 1 year. Ask for Al when you call or stop at the shop. (5 stars) Good luck AL and thanks so much for the quality guaranteed work to my car. I will be back!!!!!

Very disappointed with their customer service. I left my van for repairs to the transmission and when I picked it up, the driver side electrical seat adjustment was damaged, when complained to Jason; “a very obviously inexperience and rude customer service representative” kept insisting that it was probably already broken when I dropped it off, in other words… I was lying, and that he was going to check the cameras. I tried to explain and also pointed out mechanic finger prints to the opposite door. When I told him I was going to leave the van until it got fixed, he turned around and walked away saying he was not going to deal with me any longer. AAMCO is a very old and respectable franchise/company and I would hate to think they are teaching their customer representatives this specific maneuver, if they are; they are going to lose a lot of customers. Do not go to this AAMCO at Tully in San Jose, you will be treated like garbage, but if you do, inspect your vehicle thoroughly before paying, and beware of Jason.

My previous mechanic shop told me that my daughters CV boots on her car needed to be replaced and that it would cost around $700 to replace them. I called AAMCO and spoke with Al (the owner) and he said that I should have the axles replaced along with the CV boots, and he explained to me the reason for doing them both. He quoted me a price that was $300 less than what I was quoted by my mechanic shop. I had some other issues with my mechanic, I was told that I had a leak and I would have to steam wash my engine and under carriage and run dye to find the leak and that it would cost about $350. Als guys found the leak by just looking under my car. This is the first time dealing with Al but I am vary happy with the work that was done on my daughters car. Al gave me a quote for the work and I was never in the dark about what I was going to pay. I would recommend AAMCO San Jose for any work that you may need.

I FULLY RECOMMEND THAT EVERYONE STAY AWAY FROM THIS AAMCO.... Nicks Crew damaged my 1965 427 Cobra... My transmission needed to be replaced, the work was done and I have beenhaving nothing but problems since I picked it up from the shop I trusted the people here at this AAMCO with my Cobra and I was very mistaken, since picking my car up I have had to replace my drive shaft and I need to have my rear end rebuilt .... The owner of this AAMCO said that they did nothing wrong and treated me as if I was ignorant to automobiles.. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON AND RESTORING CARS FOR 32 YEARS, I HAVE BUILT SHOW CARS - but due to space constraints I dont have the room to take my Cobra apart... I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair) because of the damages and the refusal to repair the damage done to my car.

I just wanted to thank Al and Ira for helping me save thousands of dollars. I brought my Honda Pilot to AAMCO Transmissions after the Honda dealership told me that I needed a new transmission. After they diagnosed my car for free, Ira called me back and informed me that all I needed was a shift solenoid and a transmission service. So instead of spending almost $4000 at the dealership, I paid less than $300. My Pilot drives so smoothly now without any shifting issues anymore! I will be bringing my Pilot here for oil changes , tune-ups and brakes, now that I know AAMCO offers all these services. Thanks again, guys. I will see you in about 2 months for my next oil change.

The managers name is Geoff. I heard of the advertise over the radio (AM 740) and went in for inspection and transmission fluid change. The radio ad promotion for Feb 2008 said $30 for transmission change. He charges $114 (labor to install) and $9.10 for 2.6qts of transmission fluid. I asked him about the ad that I heard on radio, he said hes never heard of it. The service was performed on 2/16/08 My only guess is that not all AAMCO Transmission operate the same... pretty sure I will not try another AAMCO. wonder if others had better experience with AAMCO....

Al always treats us right and the work is always done in a timely manner. Last year i needed a new transmission. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, but the shop was closed. We called the phone number listed and Al answered the phone! Even in his day off he was available to speak with us. We made arrangements to leave the car and got details on the job. The car was fixed up and the cost was about 40 percent Less than the dealer. I continue to consult Al and his team on other work and he continues to provide clear details to us for making informed decisions.

I would never go here. The way they leave you in the dark and rob you is unbelievable. I took my SUV there for a transmission replacement but they would not do it without diagnosing the problem when I told them that the dealer had already told me the transmission needed to be replaced. Kept on giving me the round about about the price and never gave me an official quote. Even when I said give me a ball park figure to replace the transmission the so called owner would not give me a quote. Fortunately I did not fix my car there. Horrible Horrible..

My car broke down while driving up from SoCal. I called AAMCO and they said the nearest shop was the Tully Road location in San Jose. They towed my Ford Explorer into the shop FOR FREE :) AAMCO rebuilt my transmission and I got my car back in only 2 days. Customer service was AWESOME first rate!! AAMCO offered me a free rental car for me and my family to use while they repaired my explorer so my road trip wouldnt be a complete waste of time for my family. All in all, I was more than completely satisifed with my AAMCO experience. 2 thumbs up!
