Many roofing companies were interviewed and Straight Line Construction was chosen to repair the leaking tile roof. Phil was very punctual and courteous when he arrived to do the estimate. Using my own ladder I observed his inspection. While looking over the roof he identified several cracked tiles. He carefully raised some tiles and showed me the condition of the areas underneath. He pointed out deteriorated roofing felt, dry rotted plywood roof decking and took many digital photos of the damage. He took measurements of the roof before coming inside to talk about his findings. Phil removed his shoes before entering the house. I very much appreciated the respect that Phil showed to the house by doing this. Phil presented color print outs of the digital photos he had just taken of the roof, tiles and damage. He went over the extent of the damage he discovered. He explained that while the lightweight concrete tile itself could last 50 years, the material underneath (the underlayment) has a limited life span. Rain that found its way under the tiles and the summer heat had rotted away the roofing felt. The water also pooled behind some of the battens causing dry rotting of the battens and the plywood decking. He pointed out that one of the front porches had a very low slope. This condition often leads to pooling of water and damage to the roofing underlayment. He suggested what repairs needed to be done to correct the leaking. He pointed out these corrections which were listed on the written estimate that he printed in his truck before coming to talk with us. He went over the material and labor costs. He covered the issue of finding additional areas affected by dry rot. The roofing crew would point out these conditions to us and call Phil. He, in turn, would contact us before preparing the amended contract which would reflect any and all changes. On the day of the repair work, Brian and Brad arrived on time and went to work straight away. They welcomed my wife to observe them working and ask questions during the repairs. They were thorough and cleaned up afterwards. My wife had some concerns about certain aspects of the job. Phil, when he later came for the final inspection, courteously and thoroughly addressed each of them. Brad returned the very next day to do some minor cosmetic work to correct these issues. Brad and Brian did great work and we are very happy with the repairs. Their pricing was not the cheapest or the highest. You get solid workmanship and excellent customer service. I recommend without reservation Phil and Straight Line Construction to anyone needing their services.

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to share my review of Straight Line Roofing and Construction. I was a recent first time homebuyer. I called multiple roofing companies to give me a quote on a complete tear off and replacement of the existing roof (I had 2 layers of roofs on the house). I was having really bad luck with roofing companies not explaining the estimates or not even responding to my inquiry for a quote. I went online to Straight Lines website and requested more information and a phone call. A lady from the office called to schedule an appointment for the owner, Jack, to come out to the house. Honestly, this was a little surprising for me since the other companies came out when I wasnt home and just sent an estimate through email. Jack came out with one of his workers, Eric, they were both extremely friendly and honest. While Eric took measurements of the roof and gutters (since those needed replacement too), Jack talked to us about the different options in roofing materials. He had samples and brochures to help us envision what he was discussing. Jack was able to give us estimates on the different roofing and we chose, there was no pressure. When we chose the materials, colors, and features we wanted, Eric went to the truck and began the estimate while Jack continued to talk to us about the different between Straight Line and other companies (Never talking bad, just stating the differences). Jack was able to keep the quote comparable to the others while offering better products and services. We accepted the quote that night and placed the sign in our yard. Within a week the installation was scheduled. It took Straight Line a day to tear off 2 roofs and one other day to put the new roof on. Both crews were polite and respectful. There was not any debris left on at the house. The day they were done, the neighbors came over and mentioned how much nice the roof looks now. I am extremely grateful to have been able to work with Jack and the Straight Line family on this roof replacement. It is scary enough being a first time homeowner so it was nice to have someone to explain each step while a major repair was taking place. Anyone I have talked to already about Straight Line has had nothing but great reviews and so do I. I would highly recommend them to all my family and friends. Jack even called me the day after to see if I had any follow up questions, comments, or concerns. I worked in customer service/retail for 10+ years and did not think I could ever be surprised about the quality of a business work again but Straight Line proved me wrong. They completely exceeded all of my expectations.

Our Pollock Pines windows, siding, and exterior paint: If it was not for the fact that the work turned out okay, I would have given straight line a one star review. Their communication practices are awful; the right hand does not know what left hand is doing. The project manager is a total salesman and doesnt stay in touch throughout project. It appears that his interest went out the window as soon as we signed on the dotted line. The job has been done for about a month and he has not called once (nor has anyone else with the office) to check on our satisfaction of the job completion, but of course we got an invoice within a couple days of the job completion. To make matters worse, I have been getting emails every couple of days stating that there is a balance due on our account. I have already called and spoke to the office personnel and explained that the balance is being held because the bank is waiting on them to submit their scope of work and that there is nothing else to do on our end. The lady in the office stated that she would take care of it, yet I continue to get emails. It is disappointing that the only follow up received was to ask us to release payment, but not to ask us how everything turned out. Overall, the work turned out okay, so I give the workers credit for that, but between the office personnel and the project manager and horrible communication, this whole project was much more stressful than I would have expected from a company that the project manager states gets five star reviews across the board. A couple of times someone in the office would call me to relay a message that she was supposed to relay the day before so that we could prepare (example: lock chickens in the coop for the day so they would not be in the way). By the time I actually got the call, it was a day too late and the work crew was already at the house. We gave the paint colors to the project manager as he requested, and then someone in the office would call me later to ask me for the colors indicating that she was never given the paint colors by the project manager. These are just a few examples of what went on before and during the project. Between the horrible communication and the fact that there was not even a follow up walk through done with us at the end of this project, I am very dissatisfied with Straight Line and will most likely not be using them on any of our future house projects.
