I was referred to El Gato from a good friend that is also a General Contractor. Having used this GC for 3 years I trusted his referrals and knew that he used El Gato for his own work. Although I was North of El Gatos normal "boundary" (Im in Forest Hills, SF) in the Bay area - Ken came out within a day of calling and provided a very detailed quote, to include options I didnt even see at first (they do power washing of decks too and refinished my front wood door really fantastic, like new). Needless to say, they came out a week later and power washed the entire house, scraped, cleaned and rinsed again - at the same time they did my deck and rails. A week after that they came out and did my entire house in 2.5 days, bringing four great painters to the site - using the last half day to clean all windows, touch up as needed and walk the entire place with me - fixing anything (ANYTHING!) I called out with no questions. This is the 5th house I have painted in my life (once I did it by myself - boy was I dumb!). I have never worked with such a pleasant crew, accommodating provider and with a great/fair price. 3 neighbors already stopped by to get their name - thats an endorsement!

Ken arrived on time . We walked around the house and discussed what was to be done. A 10 by 2 section of the stucco needed replacement in addition to the paint work. Ken was prepared to provide me with an estimate on the spot. I declined as I had to leave for an appointment. He faxed the estimate the next day. His bid was not the lowest bid I received but, I got what I paid for. The painting crew arrived at 8:00AM on the scheduled start day. The job was to take a couple of days to complete but, they finished the entire job in one day. I was amazed and the workmanship was top quality.

Like others, I got bids from 3 companies. El Gato was the middle bid, but they were all fairly close. The staff on the phone were pleasant and helpful. The guy who gave me the quote was knowledgable and thorough...and on time. He gave me the detailed quote before he left. The painters did a great job on preparation and application. They did the whole house in 2 days and assured me that if there was anything that needed touched up or anything we found that we werent satisfied with to call and they would be back to correct it at no charge.

I just stopped by the house to check on the work, and it looks really good. The quote was thorough and included digital pictures of what was covered in the quote. Ken was punctual and showed up when promised for the quote, and the painting team was also right on time as promised. Easily half this job was prep work, because the railing and spindles were covered in multiple coats of old, cracking and peeling paint that needed to be scraped and sanded off. The team did a really thorough job of scraping, sanding, caulking and sealing.

There were some issues which Ken reviewed and had corrected. Ive revised my review based not only on his response in having the issues corrected but because I believe he is truly interested in continuous improvement. Lets face it, sometimes things happen. The key to quality is in finding ways to correct issues AND prevent it from happening again. He has a process where he meets with his team to review feedback in order to improve customer experience and I believe he will followup on what was learned from our job.
