I LOVE crunch gym. I had a year membership but decided to persue a yoga studio, but I missed it so much Ive decided to do both. Ive experienced both 24hr and Ballys (when it was in business) and so far crunch is best experience with a gym Ive had. Esp. This crunch gym in Tustin, the staff is so friendly, they always get me with a smile and several of them make an effort to know your name. The price is fabulous for what they offer. They charge you a 39$ annual fee which covers replacing old equipment and needed repairs. I constantly see them working on machines vs at the other gyms I would see a not working sign on a treadmill for a month or more. The equipment does get renewed as well. Ive seen leather slam balls and battle ropes replaced when they needed it. They keep the place clean as well. I have taken some of their classes as well and really enjoyed them. I would suggest getting at least the peak membership, 1. Base 2. Peak 3. Peak plus. Peak is 19$ a month right now and that means I can bring practically unlimited guests with me. I usually bring my husband. He needs a profile and a guest card but after that he can come with me whenever I want, he just cant go to the classes unless he pays 5$. I could come back later that day with a new person, so if you wanted to you could split the bill with a friend but 19$ a month you really cant beat. They also have a tanning area and massage bed but thats with the peak plus membership. They also have group personal training classes which are good of you want those quicker results and cant afford a personal trainer. I had a personal trainer for the year I was there previously and it was amazing. They are all really good at what they do, they will personalize your workouts to what your goals were. Im not sure what the cost is currently but if you can afford it, it is cheaper than 24hr fitness probably, it was when I paid for it. And it is worth it! I had the pleasure of working with a manager before he became a manager, Kai and than Eric. They do care about your results and are very well trained. It is a compact gym and sometimes a little smaller but with everything included-clean, friendly staff, great classes, great personal trainers, kept up machines and equipment, and a good price its great! They also have two squat racks. And three bench press benches. There is also a combat training center, with pull up options, and some punching bags. There also a strip of artificial turf for pushing and pulling a sled. These are some newer exersizes that they have added. Of course if your want a good time when less people are there mornings are the busiest and nights are busy as well after 10:30-11am it shows down and picks up a little at 4ish. It was that way when I left a couple months ago, I assume it will be about the same. And on the hours they are open for holidays it is a ghost town which is awesome.

Not a very healthful environment... Especially the showers and locker rooms. Im a person who likes and needs to shower after a really good workout. I like to be clean. I think its the OCD in me. The showers are very dirty, especially the womens showers. The curtains didnt look like theyve been cleaned in ages. One of the shower curtains still have hair color dye strains from months ago (beginning of the year kind of old). The water that comes out of the shower heads are pathetic... It you turn the shower heads upside down while in on mode, it only shoots about 1 inch or less, making it very unsafe, especially a public shower. Lots of people use this to wash their private parts, body, hair, etc. Just think the females with STDs, HIV, AIDs, etc. using the shower heads to wash their private parts... And think of how many people with STDs (IE. Herpes, Genital Warts, etc.) that are in active mode and/or bleeding using that shower head to wash their private parts, bodies, etc... And what if some of those blood gets on the shower head and/or walls without you knowing and/or if the person doesnt wash it well after using it/them? And think... What if some of the women use the shower heads to wash their private parts and stick it in to make sure theyre clean? YUCK! In addition, when someone uses the toilet and flushes, the water flow from the showers stops/pauses and resumes again after. However, if there are multiple flushes and your showing, you have to resort a bit and be cold. Plus, because of the weak water flow, in order to wash your hair, you have to touch the showers walls. A BIG YUCK! A few of the staff are great. I have reported the issue with a staff and the person has tried to alleviate the problem by telling the people (who are supposed to take care of the issue) to take care of the issue, but it hasnt been taken care of and its getting worse... Before, the water from the shower heads would shoot at least 2 or 3 inches.

Ive been a member at crunch for more than a year and I love it! Everything is always super clean, it doesnt smell like "sweaty gym" and the machines are always running and if they arent I always see the man who maintains them getting them up and running. I had a personal trainer Kai! and he worked magic!!! I was apprehensive in getting a personal trainer because I always worry about getting ripped off but that wasnt the case. Kai asked me for my goals and I told him I had a month before I go to the river and I want to look amazing! realistically that was a little far fetch but he made it a goal. But whether I really did LOOK amazing after that first month at the river (which I did) I really more than anything FELT amazing. He held me accountable the entire time he trained me and always pushed me even when I was super sassy. Crunch fitness has a great network of personal trainers. They are all friendly and you get to know them on another level other than you are paying them to work you out. They relate to you with aspirations, goals, schools and build a relationship with their clients. It is also nice when I see them work out around the gym. I was with Kai for more than 4 months- started out just out of shape... I wasnt big but just out of shape. now- I can squat way more than what I first did even when I was running track, and my goals evolved from shedding fat to having strength and muscle mass. No he didnt send me to cardio hell or eat rabbit food which I had told him from the beginning that Im not about that life . He set me off with a solid foundation and tools that i need to continue a healthy living style.

This is a two part review, trainer and gym. Trainer: Roberto Roberto has really been helpful. When I started at crunch, I had been out of the gym for about 20 years... Im 37, definitely not an old man, but not in the best shape either. Roberto designed a comprehensive program and provided guidance with nutrition, cardio, strength and endurance training. He worked around injuries in my knees and shoulders to help me achieve very good results. Id recommend meeting with Roberto if you are new, need a refresher, or want to up your game. Hell work at your pace and if you work, youll get results! He is knowledgable, an excellent communicator, and he will encourage and push you enough so you maximize your time and effort. Time is money, so maximize your time and effort with expert guidance. Gym: Ive been a member at this gym for almost a year. What I appreciate most is the cleanliness and ample supply of free weights. They have plenty of machines too and everything is new and in good condition. It seems like they are always adding new equipment. The staff is helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive. This is a great place to get fit and its a great value!
