I was next door at All American to pawn an item and saw the postcards on their counter for Wise Guys. Had seen them before and needed a hair cut, so why not? Went over and sat down and smiled and said hello. The Son? and the Mother? were occupied with customers, so I ran back over to the pawn shop to get the referral card. The Son chased me out the door afterward, and sort of subtly chastised me for leaving. Shooed me over to their couch and said the mom would be with me soon. Smiled and let him know it was no problem, and watched Friends on the tv. After the mom was done with an older man, she didnt even say hi, didnt so much as look my way, but grunted that she was ready for me. I thanked her, asked her how she was and sat down. Explained that I just needed sort of a longer military cut, like it faded on the side. She chastised me, "We know how to do a fade. Dont worry." By this time, Im wondering how this is gonna go but keep smiling and being polite. She spent about five mins haphazardly using clippers on my head unevenly. The whole time she was going back and forth with maybe the Dad? and the Son in what sounded like Russian or something Eastern European. Let her know the last person who cut my hair (me, LOL) didnt do a very good job, just needed her to make sure everything was even since I was taking a trip with my girlfriend. Asked if she minded using shears up top, and she immediately jumped in, "I will use clippers!" Cool... She started making excuses like I have a scar on my head, theres a horizontal hairline that "sticks out" (yet, no other professional have ever told me these things or had trouble), that I wasnt keeping my head straight. So finally, politely, I asked her to take one more pass and gave her an undeserved tip because she apparently needs it more than I do. She even had the gall to bark at me to "COME BACK..." which caused me to chuckle as I walked out the door. I dont think Ill ever be back. The two stars were for the great price and I liked the lotion that she used after framing my neck. Still couldnt get me to go back. You get what you pay for, I suppose, but these guys didnt seem ethical. P.S. Now Im wondering how much they paid for all the half assed five star ratings.

Let me start off by saying I am not one to ever write a review and this will actually be my first review for any establishment. I have been coming to Wise Guys Barber Shop ever since I moved to Denver over 7 years ago. My first hair cut was by Zoya and she gave me one of the best cuts I have ever had. As I was getting my haircut I could see people lining up for one of the other barbers Alex. On my next visit I gave Alex a try and I have never gone anywhere since. Not only do I get my hair cut but I get a flawless old school traditional straight razor shave(True Barber Shop warm lather shave). I walk out feeling like a BILLION bucks every time! Im moving over 40-50 minutes away and will definitely still make the commute. They grew up both in the industry and have became masters not only with hair but making you feel at home and like family. Every style of cut you can imagine such as crew cuts, flat tops, high and tights, fades, and ivy leagues. Also every style for women from ummm Bob Cuts, Layers, Asymmetric, Coloring, Shoulder Length, Perms, and Butches for sure. I’m not very familiar with womans hair styles but they are! If you can imagine it they can do it. Keep up the good work Alex and Zoya you truly have a gift! Thank you both for never rushing and always taking your time to make the whole experience and final finishing touches perfect every time! Word of advice new comer give your self some extra time do not be intimidated and walk out if there is a line, there is a line for a reason. I promise you will not regret it and after your own experience the next thing you will be doing is jumping on here to leave your own personal review!

This might be a good barbershop for guys, but they advertised that they do great womens styles also. The shop was close to my house, so I went. I told the hairdresser Zoya, that I would like to go red head and get a short sleek cut. When my time was up and my hair was being washed, the shower head slipped out of her hand and hit my nose. I got a mumble of an apology. When brushing after washing my hair, she was so rough with the comb and kept hitting my scalp. I let he know that it was hurting. I also told her that my hair looks nearly the same color as I came in. No red here. She told me that I would need to come in again and pay for my next session. Um, what was I paying for this time? Yeah, like I am ever coming back here again, right. Well the shocker came at the very end of my visit. After she cut my hair and dried it, I look in the mirror and there I am with a mushroom top on my head! It was like something out of the 90s, a dreadful helmet head! I reminded her that I would like my hair sleek, get this, she said "I have other customers waiting." Obviously clients arent her top priority and she doesnt care about tips. I have been going to hair salons for 15 years and never have I had service and attitude this bad. I just moved here and really wanted to find my home salon, but this will not be it. Now every time I go out, I have to pin my hair with bobby pins all over just to make it look ok.

So let me tell ya .... I was passing thru Denver and needed a dope skin fade. I read the reviews online and Alex seemed to be the barber I wanted to cut my hair. Well when I went in his mother was working. I didnt know that she was his mother at the time. So I said *no disrespect, but will Alex be in today. Cuz I read the reviews online and hes seems like he man* she then told me she was Alexs mother. Right then and there I already knew I was about to get a killer cut. When I sat in the chair we went over the haircut. I showed her a pic of what I was going for. She did better than the pic. This skin fade was the best Ive ever had...seriously!!! If I lived here I wouldnt let anybody else cut my hair. She was fun to talk to while I got my haircut. I have gotten several complements on my hair since then. Thanks again sweetheart. And when I come back to visit Ill be stopping in.

Just went for the first time as a drop in and wont be going anywhere else unless I leave the metro area. This isnt a chop and pay assembly chain where you end up with uneven sideburns, or a $100 a cut boutique with "free" cucumber water (where you end up with uneven sideburns). It has a chill vibe with clientele of all ages and styles where they cut, compare, trim, evaluate, adjust and add the finishing touches. Alex (I believe, the older of the two) took the time to check how my hair grows, cut accordingly, and even took care of my "Alfalfa" colic which has forever annoyed me. Best cut Ive had in a decade. Give them a try and youll see what I mean.
