Were planning on going back to try again but unfortunately it didnt live up to the hype for us. First, they were pretty busy and we ended up waiting close to an hour for the food. I ordered a steak that was described on the menu as drizzled with a hollandaise cheese sauce but arrived COVERED in it. I scraped it all off and got on with it. We also ordered a sweet glazed pork loin which was also smothered. The BBQ sauce was all over the rice that accompanied the pork, not very appetizing. In any case, it just wasnt our night and were hoping the 2nd times a charm.

Very interesting menu. I enjoyed my crabmeat Florentine Benedict. Good, bold coffee. However, my wifes omelette was overcooked an not anything like fluffy - over beaten eggs cooked at too high a temp for too long will do that. One other note I shared with the kitchen: a garnish must be fresh to be effective, and a day-old slice of orange does more damage than just leaving it off of the plate. Will we come back, again? Hmm? Not unless we happen to be nearby, and hungry. Otherwise? Not likely. The test of a short order cook is, "can you make a fluffy omelette?"

The Spicy Green Bean evoked memories of my parents culture growing up in the sixties. You could call it a cafe or bistro, But one thing you ahould definitely call it is cultured. With outside seating, breakfast and a imaginative menu this place is a cant miss if your in or around Glastonbury. The place was clean. The wait staff was attentive. And the food is out of this world. Five stars i can definitely see myself frequenting this restuarant. So i give it 5 stars and heavily recomend you make a vist your self. -Eric J Benge-

The Spicy Green Bean catered a party I held for 65 people. The food was perfect: something for everyone whether a meat eater or vegetarian. All delicious, beautifully presented. What a marvelous selection of nibbles and dinner was prepared by Kathy and her crew, and the server Nicolle was a pleasure to have assisting with the buffet setup and general all-round help. I enthusiastically recommend The Spicy Green Bean if you are looking for a great caterer for your next gathering.

I went today to the spicy bean, looking forward to having breakfast. Christina, our waitress was very nice and super busy. We waited an hour and twenty minutes before leaving! Our order still was not ready, I was really disappointed at the wait time. Its beyond ridiculous! Management should staff appropriately, this is unacceptable for such a small restaurant!

The Spicy Green Bean is AMAZING!! Great food and even better service. I had the breakfast this morning with my vegetarian girlfriend and everything was made to our liking. We had the eggs & potato breakfast special and we subbed veggies and vegan sausage instead of the pork hash. It was outstanding, I recommend the green bean to everyone!!

Love love love this place! Its become my regular Friday night (date night) dinner with my wife, and we look forward to the creative specials every week. BYOB (with no corkage fee), great food, and a chef that will try anything - what more could you want?

Waited 45 minutes to be seated and then told that food would be another hour. Manager blamed the "small kitchen" and did nothing to encourage us to stay. Food on past visits was nothing remarkable. Do yourself a favor and go to Ken s Corner!

I want to give this place 5 stars for their food. Especially their brunch! But the service can be slow at times. Seating is tight but the ambiance is good. Definitely worth trying though. Still need to try their dinner.

Whatever you order, make sure you get with the breakfast potatoes! Simply delicious. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Red potatoes, sweet potatoes and purple potatoes. Best breakfast potatoes Ive ever had.

Took an hour and a half to get our food. Waitress was unapologetic, explained that the kitchen is too small to keep up with the pace of the customers. Food was about diner-quality but certainly not worth the wait.

Great location. Easy walking access if youre in the Downtown Glastonbury, CT area. Very creative dishes, hearty ingredients, huge portions and BYOB, (they do have free mimosas with some dishes.)
