Had such high expectations for this place after reading reviews and walking inside (beautiful decor and an upscale vibe). My stylist met with me and I showed her the hairsyle I wanted in a magazine. We agreed on a length (a few inches below my collarbone- and by the way my hair was very long so this was a big change and i didnt want to go too short) and she assured me it would be a great cut. She then took me to the wash station. Shampoo was nice and my person massaged my scalp a bit which I enjoyed. However after finishing my shampoo, all stations were taken so i had to sit in the central waiting area with sopping wet hair (wouldnt you think to make sure a station was open before you took a client? In all fairness it was a busy Sat afternoon, but I would expect an upscale salon to manage logistics better) Finally my stylist took me to a station and began working. After 5-10 minutes of cutting, the blow drying began and it became clear that she had cut my hair way shorter than we had agreed upon. When she asked how i liked it and I said it was too short, she said "you wanted at the collarbone right?". To be clear- i understand hair grows out so I can deal with the too-short haircut. What bothered me about the experience was the fact that the stylist didn't listen to my request, and i had to pay $65 for a basic haircut that looked nothing like the picture I presented (and was something I could have gotten for $20 at Supercuts). Im a big skeptic of fancy salons being worth the extra money, and my experience here solidified my thoughts. I dont think i will be returning nor would i recommend the salon, for the results I got for my money were not worth what I paid. Im very disappointed too because i really wanted to love this place.

My very first hair cut in C.T. was here! Of course I Googled and read reviews of multiple hair salons near Stamford & Greenwich before choosing Salon Shahin. Reason for choice: 1. Decent reviews. 2. Awesome location, its on my street! When I had called to make an appointment, I informed that: I was picky, I had recently moved, and I am looking for a hairdresser I can grow with. Please recommend me someone I will want to come back to. I believe the hair artist (forgot her name) did a good job but wasnt memorable enough for me to go back to. My hair: long black wavy hair, never dyed, usually air dried and infused with curling cream/spray to define waves. With a super awesome Hair Stylist 1. I get an awesome cut where my air dried waves fall right and the layers create a natural bounce; 2. My hair cut grows out great! So I can decide to keep it long easily. I do not let just anyone touch my hair so I am very loyal to my hair specialist(s). Saying that my specialist at Salon Shahin was sweet, but my hair did not grow out as I had hoped and the cut was a lil blah for red carpet. Although the Salon Shahin team was nice and sweet, they were not memorable enough with the hair cut nor the experience. I did get refreshments which was nice but pretty common across NYC areas. Overall, there was an invisible line drawn between the very highly paid hair stylists and the $80 range ones. $80 is still high but not if the owner is doing my hair. I had wonder if this place deserves a second chance. I thought about returning last week to see one of their most senior stylist but then I realized the senior ones were in their own World and I dont remember a welcome nor a smile from the Big Boys...soooo...nah!

i went there for almost a year cause i didnt know where else to go. the salon is clean and staff is nice but i always left thinking, something isnt right with my hair. i have side swept bangs (have had them for 10 years) and it just didnt look right. i reminded the stylist each time that i sweep mine to the side and it would be cut the same. by chance, i was in new jersey and went to my friends salon and got a hair cut on a whim. the jersey stylist propmptly pointed out that the right side of my hair was about 1 inch longer than the left. (he actually asked me if i went to a salon to get it cut.) and then he asked me if i had cut my bangs on my own because no professional could do it this way. i was too embarassed to admit that for a year i paid 60 dollars for this haircut so i actually said i cut thebangs. once he cut my bangs, it was finally the way it was except for the year that i went to salon shahin. i now go to jersey for haircuts and will continue to do so until i can find some other place in CT. ive also had a pedicure here in the basement of the salon. the girl did a very good job but it was so dark that i couldnt even see the color i was picking out! im sure there are good stylists there. i only went to one of them and i would not go back to her.

This is the first and only time I have been motivated to post a review online... and I plan to post as many bad reviews I can about this salon as I can. I went to Salon Shahin two years ago, and spent nearly 300 dollars for them to mess up my hair. I had a $70 hair cut where the stylist spend less than 5 minutes cutting my hair (I checked my watch). and they messed up the order of my hair color. When I mentioned my discontent to the salon manager, I was given nothing but attitude... However, 2 years later, I decided to give them a second chance, as I was given a free manicure coupon by a friend. (they had screwed up her appointment too and this is how she was compensated). So I went to the salon with this coupon that they give to people when they have bad experiences, presented it to the receptionist... and then was told by the manager that I would have to come back in 5 hours to redeem this coupon... What business manager would make a customer who they know has already had a bad experience wait 5 hours for a service that takes maximum 7 minutes??? Additionally, this was in the middle of the week on an weekday andand the salon was empty. If you like dealing with arrogant and entitled individuals, I highly recommend this salon

I have been a client at Salon Shahin for 20 years.....so needless to say I am a loyal customer....From Thea, to Tina, Dawn, Jewel, Anna, Carisma, Nick, LJ, Marco and countless others - SS has kept me and my hair looking great. Recently I had a family challenge arise and one of the ways we were dealing with this struggle was to have a visit with my friends at the salon; where we not only got the chance to bask in the joy that is having your hair done but to be embraced with love and compassion that is truly the heart and soul of this salon. Yes - SS has an amazing array of talented hair, make-up, nails, and salon treatment artists, but they also have a family of kind, loving, and just true blue, genuine, amazing people that show you caring and love in the art of what they do and how they treat their customers. Shahin and Sherman, please know how much I appreciate you and the way you choose to run your salon and cultivate the amazing atmosphere that I feel every time I am there. You all gave us a day to relax and enjoy just being pampered and made to look pretty. God Bless you. All my love - Melissa
