I went to AKC based on what I had seen on instagram. The pictures looked similar to what was currently done to my hair (balayage) so I decided to give them a shot because my current hairdresser was an hour away from my new home. Balayage was done to my hair and initially(when I was still in the chair) I was very pleased with the results. She (the owner) had seemed to lift my hair to a very pretty blonde color. It was when I got home and the following day that I realized that my hair color was very inconsistent and looked like I had tiger stripes. I was scheduled for a keratine treatment the next week so I texted in the pictures and asked if she could touch up the messed up places and she said yes. The next visit was the deal breaker. They applied the balayage and then the keratine. The girl that did the keratine was surprised that when she was doing it the room wasnt filling with smoke? Apparently this process when they do it causes the room to fill with smoke. That doesnt sound right. Anyway when they were done and I was blow dried my hair felt like a very think film was on it. She turned me around in the mirror and I almost cried. It was way blonder than I had ever wanted with an extremely orange tint. Also, I immediately noticed the stripes were still there. I voiced my concerns and they didnt mention any way to fix. When I got home, I inspected the back and the entire job myself and I was absolutely mortified. My hair looks like a toddler applied bleach to it. I have had numerous conversations with the owner and she said to come back. After getting 4 other opinions from other professional salons saying that this is a botched job and unprofessional I decided to ask for a refund instead. The owner refused a refund and keeps trying to convince me that I had unrealistic expectations. Let me just say that even if the color was a little orange or brassy, I could get around that and wait to get to my ideal color through more sessions. The issue is the work itself and AKC will not admit they did anything wrong. I paid $110 + tip for my botched hair and $150 for my hair destroying keratine. Come to find out you can get a keratine treatment for 1/2 the price at blonde and beyond in Southington. Save yourself, do not go to this place. I will post pictures or my before, what I requested and the result.

Alexis and her team are personable and professional. Only people I would let touch my hair. Ive done some major transformations with my hair since going to them and Ive never been disappointed. I went from hair down to my butt in my natural black, to red a little shorter, to blonde highlights in a lob, to blue purple and black in a lob to my current black lob. Seriously the transformations have been major and I trust them so much. The salon is beautiful and the chatter and laughter make you feel at home. Also, they play awesome music haha. I highly recommend akc!

Loved how my hair has been treated recently. First time I came to Alexis, it was to do a change that i wanted for a pinning ceremony that was coming in August 20, 2014, loved he outcome and people who graduated with me complimented and loved it too. Ever since I was referred to Alexis, my hair has been treated very well, I have also tried with the rest of the crew and still get the same results. I would definitely recommend these girls to anyone they are so lovely and they definitely know what they are doing . Alexis didnt wonderful job and continues to do a wonderful job with my pixie and Lindsay is just a doll with my mother ! So professional and friendly I would tell anyone to go there in a heartbeat !
