I wish there was a zero button...Since taking over from the original Keenan Family(who were kind, wonderful people) there has been many incidents but the one that sticks out was my mother is handicapped and walked up the new (no sign or roped off) handicapped entrance with my Dad, in back, also there was new stairs which had 2 Orange cones on steps cause no railings, the door was locked I ran around to front of building and the "gentleman"(I use that term very loosely) told me the ramp isnt ready and she would have to go back down due to liablity insurance, and enter a different way and that a sign was there the sign was so tiny you couldnt read it and if ramp wasnt ready they should of had cones and had area roped off!!! Well I told "gentleman" shes there now, to open the door cause she wouldnt make it to other entrance, he proceeded to mumble under breath and when he went to open door I said you better not hit my mother who at this point was sitting in chair of walker, very rudely he said I see her, he wanted to swing it open, when door was opened and my mother and father entered I said this is CERTAINLY NOT HUGH or MICHAEL KENNANs business they would never or have anyone that worked for them EVER TREAT a person like that!! That day same said "gentleman" never introduced priest who did prayer service....I could go on with stories of their very bad and unprofessional ways!! I have told so many people and heard more horror stories about these people or company that bought it!! I know one thing my family will be going to West Haven funeral home where the Pinzi family are just like the Keenans were, kind, caring and just plain professionals and wonderful people!!!!

Since I started my employment at Keenan Funeral Home I have been very impressed with the level of caring and consideration given to the families by Phil Appell and our other staff. Phil goes above and beyond when he is meeting with families to always make sure they are happy with the arrangements and he also works with them financially as much as possible based on their budget. He has 40 years experience and I cant count how many times families have expressed how pleased they were with how their loved one looked. We only provide one service at a time, something that sets us apart from other funeral homes. Families can be assured theirs is the only service going on. As for not honoring someones pre-arrangements, unfortunately we are bound by what the family wants at the time of our meeting with them and not what was pre-arranged by the decedent. There are no laws in place for this and it is unfortunate. Our staff is highly knowledgeable and can walk you through your arrangements from beginning to end.

I was a nervous wreck when I entered Keenan Funeral Home to make the arrangements for my son. Phillip, the funeral director, helped me, my son and my daughter-in-law every step of the way. He knew my son had no insurance and that we didnt have much so he worked with us financially the best he could. The staff was very courteous and helpful throughout the service. And my son, he looked so peaceful. Its tramatic losing a child at no matter what age but Keenan Funeral Home made it just a little easier to deal with and for that I thank them.

For about a month now Ive been trying to get my fathers death certificate but I keep getting the run around. They also went against my fathers contact of being just creamated. My dad had a contract stating what exacty what he wanted but they listen to to my brother, who had no authority to have a wake. I guess they wanted the money. I remember when a persons funeral wishes were carried out. Nowe it means nothing.
