Pier 22 is my favorite place to take out of town company. We can sit outside and watch the boats go by or sit inside - or even sit in an enclosed patio area which offers half and half. This is also usually open on holidays and where I take my entire family so I do not have to cook and have a guaranteed great experience. The establishment could not be cleaner or more tastefully designed and the staff has always been happy to be working there. I see very little staff turnover which is a mark of a great restaurant, The menu is huge and dishes extremely creative. Very few places even offer Grouper sandwiches but they do. Other favorites of mine include Pier 22s Corn Beef Reuben and Cuban sandwich. For dinner my favorites include Prime rib (on the weekends,) Stuffed Lobster, Tuna or Shrimp dishes. Again, Grouper is on the dinner menu also. I love their cheese grits when they offer them (usually on brunch type buffets) and I love the place so much one of my daughters is having her wedding reception there. I have also attended many functions in the ballroom and it IS the place for corporate parties. The Marina itself has live-aboards and a very eclectic and cool group of people to such an extent I will probably move my 44" boat over there to hang out on weekends and write more books. I would love to sleep over the weekend and let Pier 22 do all the cooking!

Came today with family first time and last time for me. I am deathly allergic to onions and made that perfectly clear to our server Cassandra. When my food came out not only was it not what I ordered but it was loaded with onions. I explained they must remake entire meal and not just pull the onions off Cassandra assured me that it would not just be taken off! My food came out and I could smell the onions and I was smart enough not to eat the part that touched the onions. I ordered the fudge sampler and it was hard as a rock. A manager came out and apologized and said he would take the meal and fudge off my bill but seemed bothered by the fact that I could of died if I ingested the food . Cassandra brought the bill and guess what the bill was not adjusted because obviously management and staff dont communicate. I will never go back and I will also tell others not to go . Cassandra apologized stating she was sorry that her services were. not up to my standards, sweetie you made the career choice to be a server not me and you take care of the people who tip you! I have waited tables and you can best believe my tables were always taken care of and I listened to the needs and concerns of my customers. Water cups should be filled regularly and I was empty the entire meal so I drank my fathers!

My wife and I had dinner Sat night. Hostess was very pleasant and We were promptly seated. We had a reservation with friends. Our server was very nice and the restaurant was in a great location. We had appetizers which arrived quickly with kudos to the sushi chef. Thats the good part. Our main courses were surf And turf with a dungeonous crab with steak and I ordered the salmon which I was told was sushi grade. My wifes crab tasted as if someone cooked it in dirty dishwater with tons of lemon juice squirted on too. Her steak was Cheney and overcooked. My salmon was to be cooked med rare. It was way overcooked. My risotto was undercooked significantly and my veggies tasted old. Our friends actually didnt eat their meal and had it taken back. They ordered filet mignon and received a different cut. The manager knew our meal was horrible. Our friends got their meals taken off the check but by wifes very expensive meal was charged full price. We did get 2 free desserts. Our Bill was over 100.00. At the end while paying our gift card didnt go thru. And a rather unfriendly waitress came out and explained very loudly and also long windedly there was a problem with it. So. I wouldnt recommend this place at all. Way over priced. And horrible food. Except the sushi.

Trying to secure a reservation for a party of 8 for Mothers Day. I understand we are calling late and understood we would be sitting outside. We were willing to reserve at at any time available. I was shocked and taken back however, after I requested our party be seated next to the water and was met with a hostile, dress down of we do NOT take special table requests on MOTHERS DAY, and will seat you with what is available! ?? Were outside...and available at ANY time! The tone on the other side of the phone was rude and condescending. A simple: sir, unfortunately we cannot take special table request but will try when you arrive. Seemed to portray it was a privilege for us to be accepted on their reservation roll. Rudeness never works, especially when the out the door bill for brunch is going to be north of $400.00. I am a local who takes clients to Pier 22, family to Pier 22, and out of down guests to Pier 22. Not anymore. I dont know who was in charge of Customer Service this afternoon but the Millers (owners) should double check the attitude of the young lady who scolded me on the phone like a 2 year old. Good bye Pier 22...hello Marina Jacks or even across the River at the Riverhouse Reef & Grill, Sandbar or even Granery in Lakewood Ranch.

We have had several lunches and dinners at Pier 22, which have always been good...but the reason for this review is to applaud the great job this restaurant did on July 4th. My husband (who is very critical of most restaurants) made the reservation and the evening met all of his criteria. I was skeptical about going (since it was a buffet and sounded a little pricey ..but we both loved it! We were very happy with the ability to make a reservation, valet parking, not crowded, no traffic, food tasted great..and lots of it, buffet replenished in an unobstructive and timely manner), great service (even though tip WA included do the servers could have been slackers), outdoor dining w shade, great fireworks, could arrive anytime after 6 and stay for fireworks or as long as you want. We loved the unlimited peel and eat shrimp, mussels, oysters, ribs, snapper, pasta primavera, and desserts! We had dinner at pier 22 on New Years Eve, which was also very good. We plan to go back next July 4th...as well as before (I probably shouldnt have written such a glowing review...we may not get a reservation)

Knowing that we decided to chance going to the Easter brunch with reservations, we had no expectations for success. We called to check and see if we could get in with two. With 1250 Brunch reservations, we were turned down. Yet with another beautiful Florida day, we took a chance to see if we could be seated at the bar. Luck would have it, we were seated at the end. Lisa was the bartender and she was extremely helpful and friendly. Food is what counts and it did not disappoint. Omelet station was good but swamped. It needs two. Put it in the dessert room because the space there is wasted. Consider a pasta bar. The prime rib was excellent. Ham was very good. All entrees seemed just right. Shrimp was cooked perfectly but ran out for a good while. It seemed like the strain of that many people was more than everyone was prepared for. The hostesses seemed like they were constantly pressed by new guests. Consider moving the hostesses outside under a tent. Valet was overrun as well. However, most of this was handled as fast as humanly possible. Management must fix the rest.
