I usually dont leave bad reviews but this one was worth the time to write. My husband took me to St. Augustine for the weekend of Valentines as a surprise getaway. One of the surprises involved was a beautiful bouquet of a dozen roses to be delivered and waiting for me... This was the 3rd Valentines day we have been together but the first two were long-distance. This was the first one we were getting to spend together physically, and the first one was husband and wife. It was really special. Until I got the flower delivery. I walked into the hotel room Saturday, February 13, to find the beautiful bouquet sitting at the desk. I was pleasantly surprised, and then looked at the card sitting on top of the arrangement. It said the hotels address and my name, spelled in a different way. I asked my husband about this. He said the lady on the phone suggested he address me as that spelling as it meant Beautiful. :) Aww. I opened the card to read the inner message. ".....Your husband, ____." I asked him if he meant to have his name wrong too. He said "What?! No." This obviously took away from the sentiment of the flowers... Flowers by Shirley were closed by this time and closed for Sunday, Valentines Day. We traveled back home. I called them on Wednesday from work only to reach a temporary staff. She thanked me for calling but informed me that Shirley was in a meeting with a wedding group and would call me back afterwards. This was 4:05pm. I waited. They close at 6pm. No phone call. I waited Thursday. Apparently, I wasnt important so I called back at 4:00pm again, today. I asked the lady who picked up if I could speak to Shirley. It was Shirley. I told her I had called yesterday and didnt receive a call back from her as I was informed. I told her the situation...how my husband made the order over the phone, and informed the lady that his name was not spelled the traditional way (spelled it out for her) and how the lady thanked him for spelling it out as she would have written it down the other way. Shirley sighed on the phone, and said she never got the note to call me back but she did get a ticket from a temporary assistant who told her about the problem. "I apologize... but it was an honest mistake, I feel. I typed it up. It said the traditional name on the ticket I got... I didnt mess up." I said "No, but my husband spoke with a lady working for you, a Scottish lady because they spoke about how she moved here when she was 6... and she confirmed the spelling. Whether or not she got that information to you correctly or not, is not my problem. The order was made through her in good faith that it would be delivered correctly." Shirley continues on, "well... it was a temporary. I had 4 temporarys working for me that weekend bc I was short staff. Im sorry if it ruined your weekend and holiday. Thank you for letting me know. Have a good day." That was it. As the manager, you hold responsibility over your employees actions... at any company. That same temporary took my husbands card information over the phone and they got his name, number, and the price correct there! Their website states "Family owned and operated with quality and excellence since 1973, we look forward to providing, on a global scale, the unparalleled service we have proudly delivered to our local customers." Quality implies attention to detail and spelling the name correctly. Excellence, dont make me laugh. Unparalleled? My husband and I have ordered our fair share of flowers. This was the worst service of all. Anyway, Lesson learned: Dont buy flowers from Shirley or ask to speak directly to her to make an order so if its got a mistake, shell feel responsible for it to at least take credit for it. Stay away. Good luck to those who still venture on with their business...If you want a little above average flower arrangements with a random name on it, this is the place to go. Shirley takes no responsibility for her colleagues (temp or not); there is no customer value; she just wants your money. :)

Dont usually bother writing bad reviews but this one is well deserved. I would give no stars if it let me, 1 star is far more than she deserves. Shirley is probably the most rudest, unprepared, unprofessional business owner Ive had the misfortune to encounter. Second order (this one was through 1800 service so I didnt know it was going to her) messed up and then she refused to deliver today after she failed to deliver yesterday when I paid for same day service. She blamed the 1800 service for not giving her the order until today - 1800 service sent me proof it was sent yesterday.... All this after she sent a table topper arrangement to my father in laws full honors military funeral in 2013 and then had the audacity to shout at me and tell me I ordered it wrong!!! NEVER will use again - very surprised shes still in business......

i have been there a few times for flowers related to weddings. Maybe they used to be great but if you arent willing to spend $500 or more then they arent interested in helping you. I went in today to purchase some stems for some arrangements I am making myself and I told them I needed greenery and had $20 to spend. The lady literally laughed in my face and told me they couldnt accommodate that request because their stems are $1.50 each- I only needed a few so I had plenty of money. I recommend finding a place that is willing sell to their customers no matter how small the order for that day might be. They have made $100s off of me before and they just lost me as a customer. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL.

I ordered an arraignment over the phone from Colorado, to be delivered to our condo in St. Augustine for some very special guests. I had great service over the phone, the bouquet was beautiful and the flowers were delivered on time. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five, is that I ordered pink peonies flowers, and they were mostly pink star lilies in the bouquet, in complete fairness, it was explained to me that they did not have pink peonies in stock and would have to order them, but I felt for the price, there could have been more peonies in the bouquet since that is what I actually ordered. Over all I felt it was a good experience, and was pleased with the service and quick delivery.

I think its important to leave a review upon receiving "stellar" service. Today, I spoke to Robin at Flowers by Shirley to help me with a Funeral Arrangement. (I always prefer to contact the "local florist" versus calling some internet 800 number) Anyway, Robin was extremely helpful in walking me through the process, and offering great suggestions to suit my needs. She wasnt simply trying to "get a bigger order" like many other businesses. During our conversation, Robin was patient with me while being extremely thoughtful and compassionate. I cannot remember when Ive felt so comfortable after ordering flowers. 5 stars is the best I could show...But Robin? Id give you 10!.

AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS! From our consult to delivery and execution everything was wonderful. Thank you so much to Shirley and her team for making my wedding amazing and memorable. People kept saying how lovely the flowers were - best day ever, she was also very affordable compared to many other places. Also, they found my wedding license in the street the day before and called me right away! Thank goodness for Flowers By Shirley.
