Horrible. Dont go here unless you like being ignored by and get bad service unprofessional snobby women in Algonquin of all places! (Its rural suburbia... nothing to get snobby about...) I had an appt with Heather. Within the first few sentences spoken to me were "Lets talk prices." I then found out that she was going to essentially double the cost of coloring my hair and raise the price of the cut. This was because , she said "You have a lot of hair". (My hair was an approx 2 inches below shoulder length and it is slightly thick, but not so thick my hair has ever needed an extra box of color or anything ever out of the ordinary.) I allowed her to continue and began to state what I wanted in terms of color and cut. She proceed to talk over me..... and stated that what she was going to do. She applied the color and left me alone with horrible tasting tea (which she did "make" but left me oddly very thirsty. No one check on me to see if, say, I needed anything.). For over an hour and a half while she rinsed out the color on another client, cut, blew dry, and styled them. During this time, I listened to 2 "stylists" chat with some friends that came in with food. (Fine, no big deal). But they, we obnoxiously loud in their banter. It got a little annoying in my ear after the first hour. Just unprofessional. It was at least 90 minutes before Heather came back to me. (A somewhat friendly assistant did rinse me and towel dry me... but that took approximately 10 minutes of 90 that Heather was gone.) Heather then proceeded to cut my hair not asking for input on what I wanted. I asked for her to cut it shorter, she decided NOT to. I asked for help with the bangs that I had cut myself, she decided that she did NOT want to trim them. I wanted face framing layers, but... forget it. At that point, I just wanted out. Later the same kinda friendly assistant took me back to wax my eyebrows while laying down on a somewhat dirty table in a slightly dirty room in the back of the saloon... strange... I just want my eyebrows done.... Overall, the visit with tip (the majority of my tip went to the nice assistant-duh!) Was $180. (No highlights, just a "solid color", no real "cut", very quick trim, plus minimal eyebrow wax). Moreover, the whole salon had a air of "we are too cool for you" or "This Aveda, G*d D&mn *t, We are chic! I am sorry.... did I miss the part where you went to cosmetology school? For 2 years? Whoop de doo? Or the part where you answer phones and sweep hair off the floor for a living? Or that we are in Algonquin? Illinois? Yes, really swanky ladies... just next to Milan. Yes, you are a professional and I will respect you like one when you act like one.... Treat your client, like a client! Unprofessional, disrespectful, unreasonably priced, bad service, and just snobby.... cant stand snobby.

I had been going to this salon to see Tiffany since early 2013. I had received good haircuts, but recently, my at experience at this salon went from good to bad. I had scheduled to have my base color touched up. Bad idea! I was told by Tiffany I would get a slightly richer color but not darker. As I sat alone for more than 50 minutes with dark dye on my hair, I knew this wasnt the light golden brown I had asked for to match my then-current color. My hair is now dark cherry (brassy and fake) brown. After calling three times--and getting no call back--to ask if washing my hair would make it lighter, I finally spoke to Tiffany who didnt seem particularly sorry that I wasnt happy with my service. I was to come back in for them to put a "gloss" on it to correct the brassiness but I got nervous after my first color experience there. I called to say I was worried my hair would get damaged putting more color on it so close after the first application. A week later, I called to speak with manager Stephanie and I received an attitude because she said I had cancelled "at the last minute" (for a trip back to that salon I shouldnt even have had to make). I had called Stephanie to ask if I could use my regular Garnier color to cover up the red color. Never got the chance to ask. All I know is this salon doesnt understand what good customer services constitutes. I now do not recommend Taylor Stevens Salon any longer--too stressful and not Aveda-like at all.

I wouldnt say this salon this awesome and I wouldnt say it sucks, its just okay. However, that being said Danielle is great she has been doing my hair (color & cut) for a few months since now and I have been very pleased, since my hair color was a mess of browns both dark and light with some grey mixed in. During my first appointment Danielle took the time listen to me and make sugestions as to what would be the best process to get my hair heathly and one medium brown color. I made the mistake a few weeks ago of having to reschedule one of my color appointments and ended up having to use another stylist they put me with Heather which was a BIG, BIG MISTAKE. She was sloppy and overlapped my touch up about 2 inches down on top of the color process that Danielle and i had been working on instead of just doing the roots. I didnt notice the difference until I got home where it looked liked it had a big black band going around my head. Frankly I looked stupid. I ended going in to talk to Danielle about a week later and she was apologetic and offered to fix it. So this past Friday 9/4/15 she did just that and put some highlights in so the black band is not so noticeable. My advice to you is if you like your stylist and colorist dont change and if you need to make sure that they dont put you with Heather. As for the receptionist they are nice and and have always been polite.

I had been been given a couple hundred dollars in gift certificates by my husband to go to treat myself but was absolutely miserable there. the ladies at the main desk were very snotty, the girl who did my hair extremely immature and only wanted to gossip about Hollywood entertainment news, and the one time she asked me about myself and I mentioned having several children she rolled her eyes and made it clear she did not like children. I was not impressed with the haircut. the sole person that was nice to me was an older lady who washed my hair, probably because she was closer to my age than these kids were. Im in my thirties but dont treat me like a piece of dirt when all I wanted was a relaxing day out. Im okay if you dont talk to me at all, I would prefer that over latest gossip you read out of a cheap paper. Thats not real life kiddos.

I recently went with my niece. I personally DID NOT have my hair done. Thank goodness. She had a special event, she need her hair done for. The owner of the salon was very rude to her. My niece has very long (past her waist) hair. To add to her long hair its very curly. For every Pinterest hair do my niece would show the owner. She would say "oh no your hair is too curly for that." "Your hair is to thin for that." "No your hair is very difficult for that updo." In addition the receptionist and hairstylists werent very friendly. After offering us water, and candy. They just went to their corner, and acted like no one was there. Lets just say my niece and I will not be going there anytime soon.
