Really wonderful classes, teachers place to learn and have fun!!!! Have been taking my boys here for over 10 years and has been one of the best parts of our lives! Just read the other nice reviews, and one poor one. Wasnt going to say cause it embarrassing to me. Dont want to argue with Organs - Oct 26, 2010s experience either. Different times and people often experience the same things very differently. Richard IS sometimes a bad businessman, but I cant say enough good things about him! In 2008, when I had no job and could not pay, Mr. Richard Trumbo, Marcy their teacher and Music House let my boys continue their lessons free for a year until I could pay again. Since then have not even asked me to pay them back. (still plan to pay them back someday when I can, but Music House doesnt require it) Another maybe poor business decision by Richard was to spend his time and energy on Breast Cancer Awareness. He even had my boys make up some Music House/Ping Ribbon tie-dyed shirts. (I still like wearing mine :) Anyway funds for a good cause is nice, but this program had an unexpected side effect of saving my wifes life. There is no question without the additional awareness this program specific efforts generated her cancer would not have been found as soon or treated as quickly. As it turned out her cancer was malignant and removed in time for complete full recovery!!! ^_^ So I just had to add that while Richard Trumbo may be forced to struggle with his efforts to keep a small business open in Chicago during these times, I am a very grateful customer for all his efforts!!!

Ill admit up front that I am a former employee of Music House, and I was there for eight months. In the meantime, Ive seen so many teachers get hired and then quit soon afterwards because they couldnt abide by the owner, Richard Trumbo. And I dont blame them. Richard is a man who, above all, wants to make money. Which is understandable, being a business owner and all. But to him, the satisfaction of his clients and the enrichment of instilling his businesss students lives with music is only important insofar that they may want to continue lessons and pay him more money. And hes not even a very good businessman; he has an old handbook of business idioms he leans on to guide his "vision", since he never had the impetus to take a business class. Furthermore, in the event you talk to him and he laughs or smiles, he only does so to portray a persona. This man has no joy as a human being. That said, the teachers at Music House are excellent and can teach even absolute beginners some really fun music. They are also very good at encouraging their students to push themselves and become better musicians. So, choose for yourself whether or not you want to take your child here. There have been a number of parents who have been dissatisfied with Richard Trumbo, but if you trust the positive reviews, its your call.

My eight and nine year old kids recently participated in a (CPS day off) day camp, and had a great time! The day was divided into several periods across various artistic disciplines...theater, dance, visual art, and music. My son was a bit reluctant before I dropped them off...not being as sold-out to all of these areas as my daughter is. But he thoroughly enjoyed his time...which I imagine is a testament to the engaging and creative staff. My kids have been taking music lessons at Music House for several years now, and weve always been incredibly happy with the caliber of instruction and the level of student expectations, balanced with the right amount of [genuine and not gratuitous] encouragement. The music instructors we have are very knowledgeable in their craft, quite skilled in developing students knowledge and skills, and enthusiastic about sharing their love of music!

Both my children attend Music House and love it. My older son is 11, and does Rock Band at his school and private drum lessons. Hes having a blast and is really growing! My younger son is 7 and has started piano lessons this year. It doesnt come easily to him, but his teacher is patient and has a good sense of humor, and is teaching him how to learn, not just how to play the piano. The piano curriculum includes a lot of theory and sight reading - hes really learning the fundamentals that will carry him into whatever music he chooses to pursue later. Both boys frequently attend day camps when school is out and have a great time. My older son loves it because he gets to be a "junior counselor". Last year I also took singing lessons while my son was in his drum lesson. I had a wonderful time as an adult learner and really stretched and grew!

Great place for kids to develop their musical talent! My daughter has been a student at Music House for 3 years now, and the experience has been fantastic. My daughter attends the group classes and private lessons. The teachers are well qualified and do a great job. The kids are exposed to a variety of different types of music (from Classical to Fiddle to Jazz to Mariachi). I feel that the owner, Mr. Trumbo spends a lot of his time helping students and preparing students for performances. My daughter has had many free classes with Mr. Trumbo. Additionally, she has performed at many venues, and he spent extra time preparing her for the event. He provides many opportunities for performing, wither individually or in a group. My daughter has benefited greatly from the attention and performance opportunities provided by Music House.

I cant believe what these teachers can do. I attended the grand opening of the Dance Studio a while back and they had performances by students and I was blown away. Ive never seen such talent in children so young and I was in band throughout High School. (Percussion) The way they inspired the kids to not just learn an instrument but to truly find joy in the music is something to be admired and heavily applauded. I was surprised at the range of classes to choose from. Ive already signed my niece up for their Piano and Keyboard Lessons for her birthday. (Though she really wants to check out the "School of Rock". Ill let her parents deal with that! LOL) I couldn’t be more impressed and I truly wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood when I was a child!

I began playing violin at 5 years old after being introduced to it by Music House, Inc at my elementary school. I will never forget the day we received the opportunity to pick our instruments…the rest is history. Almost 20 years later, I have made it through high school and on full music scholarship to college and still love violin. The foundations that were taught here, are priceless. I will always remember the amazing concerts that I played in while at Music House, the people I met and the doors it opened in my adult life. Our Saturday class lessons and my private lessons were always such a blast to go to. Out of all the music programs and schools that one could possibly attend in and around the Chicagoland area, the Music House is the prime choice.

We started bringing our 7 year old son here initially for guitar classes and he now goes yo day camp on almost all school off dates. The sraff and owners are extremely nice and attentive to both our sons needs and our schedule. We are so happy that they offer such a variety if activities and our kid always looks forward to the next time he gets to go for a guitar class or camp. Music House has a place for almost any age group and interest.
