I wanted to get a Shellac no chip manicure so I went to the CND website for salons in the area to offer this service. I found this salon and it was a CND certified salon so I decided to try it. Called, asked prices and then made an appointment. Upon my arrival I was greeted by two very nice hairdressers. Then things started to go downhill. One of the women who greeted me yelled to the bac of the salon for the manicurist. The woman who did my manicure, Marta, was not professional at all. She had enormous breasts that practically were hanging out of her tank top. She answered her cell phone during my appointment and spoke spanish to the person on the other end. Her english was very limited and she had a hard time understanding me, in fact I had to repeat myself several times before she understood me and even then I dont think she totally understood me. Both of the hairdressers were working on haircuts and the one that yelled to the manicurist was speaking in a different language, mixed in with english, to her client. At least the other hairdresser was speaking english! The music in the salon was loud and not english. There was a lots of spanish music playing and other language, not to my taste all! The no chip manicure I got was nothing special, in fact it did not last the two weeks as promised and I think it was because Marta didnt really know what she was doing. While I was there for my no chip manicure, one of the hairdressers, who I think is the owner, was very polite and asked if i wanted water or coffee. This was the same hairdresser that was speaking to her client in both english and another language. I also, heard this woman asking her client to write a review about her on google, so unprofessional. This is what prompted me to search for reviews on this salon after I was there and I found lots of positive reviews on one specific stylist there. Ive come to the opinion that these reviews on this stylist, Jelena, are reviews she asked her clients to write, so I ask myself, how true are they and what the person writing the review received in return? I have say that the salon was nicely decorated and it seemed to be a busy salon. But I dont think I will be going back.

Jalena, salon owner, is a gift from the hair stylist gods. She is the first hair stylist I have stayed loyal to in 10 years, and I have now been seeing her for almost 2. She is high-end technique without high-end ego. Unlike the scissor happy stylists in large, pretentious salons in the city - Jalena listens to what you want. She understands that a persons hair reflects who they are, and gives haircuts that do just that. You get what you want, and come out of her salon looking like yourself - but upgraded :) Jalena is seriously everything you want in a stylist. She has owned the salon for 20 years and couldnt have more experience. Staying updated on the latest techniques, styles, and trends, is a priority of hers. She monthly attends classes and workshops to be as knowledgeable as possible. I trust her with my hair. She is also an INCREDIBLE colorist. I decided I needed a change from my dark dark brown hair. Ive always felt Im a red head at heart, and Jalena made it happen. My hair is a true Auburn which I get compliments on all the time. The color has stayed true to tone. Red is a very difficult color to maintain, but it has been rather effortless. Bottom line, Jalena wants her customers to love their hair. It is about you, not her. Id also get so annoyed at salons who would aggressively push styling products, trying to get me to buy them. I hate being treated like a dollar sign. Not with Jalena. Shes happy to recommend fantastic products for your hair if you ask :) I drive to the suburbs from the city to get my hair done by her, and will continue to do so.

This salon and services are of excellent value. I went in after a refferal from a friend. I saw his hair and was impressed with the cut and style so I asked who did it and I was lead to the GS Hair Studio storefront in Niles. Upon arrival I thought that the establishment was nice. The parking lot is not very impressive nor is the sign out front but I liked the modern look of the inside and the stations and the feel of the place. The salon was busy but It seemed like Jelena and staff had a good handle on juggling and tending to different clients at the same time. The music was interesting and eclectic tending to different genres and cultures. Everything was great. If your looking for a fancy salon to sit at for hours with a bill that looks more like that of a hotel stay this would not be the place for you. If your looking for a affordable solution to high end salon services in a faster more relaxed environment than you should check it out. Id be surprised if you dont become a regular like myself.

I have been going to GS Hair Studios for over 25 years. That alone should tell you why you NEED to visit this salon. Its not just a hair salon; GS Hair Studios offers GREAT facials and there is only 1 lady (Marta) that makes you fall asleep she is so good. There is an advantage to having the same person doing facials....she knows your face and skin and exactly what you need. Sometimes it feels like Marta has more than 2 hands on my face because of the way she moves her fingers and massages every part of your face! Marta is very friendly and she always smells good! For me, that is important. I have always recommended GS Hair Studios for the fab performance Jelena and Darinka do to my hair but its the facials that I am reviewing about. Way to go GS Hair Studios!! PLEASE dont ever move!!!! This is a small salon with a family environment. There is always coffee and sweets being served! Thank you gals for making me look and feel beautiful!

I am a 28 year old man who has been going to Jelena for five years now. Ive gotten my hair styled by many different people throughout my life, but Jelena is far and away the best. Not only is she professional and a good value, but she is so passionate about giving me the best style for my hair. Many men struggle to find a hairstyle they are comfortable with, and many stylists will give you a cookie cutter male haircut. Jelena considers what is in style and customizes a cut for each individual. Both me and my brother go to Jelena and we consistently get compliments on our hair and look the best we ever have in our lives. I give my highest recommendation for Jelena and think that anyone in search of a professional stylist should give her a try. You will not be disappointed!

I have struggled with getting good haircuts for most of my life, I have found the stylist I will be going back to forever. The salon is simple, yet elegant, but the personal attention I received sets GS Hair Studio apart from everywhere else. I brought in a few pictures of hairstyles Iiked, and specifically asked for texture in my hair. This was the most attention to detail I have ever experienced when getting a haircut. The owner cut my hair, and she was fun to talk to, and simply did a fantastic job with my hair. I cant review this place higher.
