This is the biggest joke of a club of all time. I have been a member of Anytime Fitness for over 5 years and have visited almost every Anytime Fitness in central Indiana. I can say without a doubt, this is the worst club in central Indiana. The owner/manager is one of the most backwards individuals when it comes to running and operating a gym I have ever experienced. Not only does he offer nothing when it comes to sales or promoting his club, but when it comes to running his club, he has no clue what he is doing. The first thing you should feel when entering a club to work out, whether it is your home gym or not, is a welcoming attitude. This man has none of that. No hello, no greeting of any kind of just stares at his computer or when he is out on the floor, looks for things to yell at people about. I am not necessarily expecting a hello when I enter the gym, but at least dont make people feel uncomfortable and just stare awkwardly at people when they are lifting. It creeps me out to no end. And that isnt even my biggest concern when it comes to this man. I have been lifting for over 15 years and would consider myself knowledgeable about how a gym runs and gym etiquette. I was in this gym a couple of weeks ago and was deadlifting fairly heavy weight, so there was the usual setting down of the weights between reps that caused a little bit of noise. I totally get you cannot slam weights down, but I was being as controlled as I could be given the weight. The owner was sitting training someone at the leg press machine next to where I was deadlifting. Instead of coming over and asking me to be gentler or to try and control the weight better, he sat there and gave me dirty glances while shaking his head disapprovingly. I would have been totally fine with him asking me to watch my weight and control the weight better. But that is not what this coward did. Instead, he called my home club in Plainfield, IN and complained to the manager at the Plainfield club about me. He told the Plainfield manager that he hated me and did not like how I was treating the weights when I deadlifted. He also proceeded to tell the Plainfield manager that he did not approve of my attire, which was a cut off shirt and shorts, what I have worn to every club I have ever been to with zero problem. He informed my home clubs manager that my shirt quote "exposed my nipples and this was not appropriate". All the while, there were at least 3 other men in the gym who had the exact same attire as I did on that day. Needless to say, my home club manager just laughed at these ridiculous claims. He knows how I lift, knows the way I respect the weights every time I am in the gym and also knows the way I dress, which is acceptable at any and every club but Carmel. I dont know what else to say besides this is the biggest farce ever that calls itself an Anytime Fitness. I am not even advocating not joining Anytime Fitness, as I think it is a wonderful gym to be a member at. I am just telling people not to become members at this location, or to even go there in general. I wish sending this complaint would do something about the issue, but it obviously wont affect much. I just want to let everyone know about the ridiculous nature of this manager/owner and to try to prevent people from joining this club. I would hate to see anyone get treated like I did, and I have been to this club multiple times without any issue. It has just been recently this guy has some kind of bone to pick with me or something. And he wont do it directly to me, so the next time I go into that club, I will be sure to let him know what I think about his comments and let him know I will never be frequenting his club again.

Before I dive into my review of this gym, Id first like to say that I leave lots of reviews. So many, in fact, that Im a level 3 local guide for google. I believe I am a local guide because of my ability to leave accurate reviews. Additionally, Ive been lifting weights for nearly 10 years, 5 of which have been at numerous Anytimes throughout Indiana and overall I have had really good experiences, however that has not been the case at this gym. At first, I really didnt mind this gym, that soon changed. 2 months after transferring my membership to this location, I was sent a survey by Anytime to rate my experience at this location. I gave a fair and accurate rating, including some constructive comments about things that could be done to improve the gym, and ways to add more equipment. The next day when I was at the gym, the owner was waiting outside the locker room while I was changing. When I was finished and exited the locker room, the owner unleashed a fury of rude attacks and snide remarks. He said things like, " How could you leave such a bad review?", and "This gym isnt designed for you", and "If youre going to continue to lift the way you do, you should just go somewhere else." I was extremely offended especially since I took the time to leave constructive feedback for him, in attempts to help him improve his gym. His remarks were harsh, un-called for, and downright unprofessional. After that, the owner was always unkind to me. He would never acknowledge me, never look me in the eye, and always shook his head from afar in disapproval for the "style" of workout. This was particularly frustrating when I was one of the few people who would regularly re-rack my weights, and wipe down the equipment when I was done with it. It gets worse... One day he had his minion Jack put up signs saying really douche bagg-ish things such as, "if you MUST dead lift, do so SILENTLY". Im still perplexed by this sign, as I personally think there are many things wrong with it, the attitude behind it, and the way it was communicated. Additionally, the owner refused to address several, well, "dress code" issues. One in particular, an older man wore inappropriately short shorts. I literally saw his butt cheeks, it was disgusting. It became ever more disgusting when this old man would put his foot up on the equipment and stretch by doing pelvic thrusts. I literally saw his shaft! Come on! That is something that absolutely has to be addressed! But when I mentioned it to the owner he said, "We dont know how to handle it." Are you kidding me! How about this, "Mr. Old man, we can see your shaft because your shorts are too short, if you want to continue to work out here, wear something else. That easy. There was a possey of other strange and rude characters who were regulars there. Needless to say this was by far the worst club I have ever been to, completely due to the owner, not anytime fitness. This guy is rude, cheap, unprofessional and practices bad business. Its not worth your time or money to visit this gym. Save yourself the headache and go to several other places that are fairly close by with a much better staff.

I travel a lot for work which is the reason I have a membership so that I can always go to a gym when i travel. In all of my years at anytime, Ive never seen people treated so poorly by the staff. Ive also never seen an owner who couldnt care less about the members or the gym itself. Instead of reinvesting into the gym or incentivizing memberships, he discourages new members from joining by not honoring the free pass offered by Anytime Corporate and not offering any type of group training or other engaging events. And dont expect a discount of any sort. This guy could be making a ton of money from this place. He blatantly and arrogantly refuses to fix the AC in the studio room because he "doesnt feel like fixing it". Yet, this could be a strategic avenue for extra monthly revenue generation if he was only motivated to exploit the opportunity. Yet he doesnt see the value. There has also been a leak in the ceiling for a few weeks now that is not fixed. The giant fan on the ceiling is never on, and the lighting is very low and dim. There arent many machines and there are barely any functional training aids or equipment with the exception of a few bands. No jump ropes, TRX, kettle bells, battle ropes, plyo boxes etc. How could any serious gym owner NOT want to capitalize on the circuit training / crossfit market? I will say that the place is pretty clean but Ive never seen many people there at once even during peak hours. The facility is nice but doesnt have much to offer. After almost 7 years of subscription I am considering canceling my anytime membership and moving to another gym. I just relocated to the area and am very disheartened by this gym.
