Several months ago, I placed a carryout order over the phone. I arrived a couple of minutes before the scheduled pickup time and waited about 20 minutes in the carryout line before I was helped, only to learn that my order had not yet been filled. I waited another 20 minutes for the order to be completed so I spent 40 minutes waiting on an order I had called in on the telephone. I was told by the employee it was much better to place the order online to avoid delays. On Sunday, March 20th, I placed an order online at 1:53 p.m. for a 6:00 p.m. pickup (that is four hours in advance!). When I arrived, there were three people in line at the carry-out line. The employee who was handling the register was also filling the carry-out orders. After more than 15 minutes of waiting in line, the employee finally asked if she could help me. She had trouble figuring out where to find the online order in the system so another employee came to help out (she was filling orders for walk-in customers). I tried to explain that they needed to have one person working the register at the carryout line and not packing orders, as well, so the line would move more quickly. She immediately comped my meal because she could tell I was upset. It was then that I learned that my online order, which I had placed at 1:53 p.m. for a 6:00 p.m. pickup, was not even ready and it would be another 15 minutes before it was ready. It was already 6:20 p.m. so it would have been 6:35 p.m. before I would have walked out with my carryout order (which was placed more than four hours in advance for a 6:00 p.m. pickup). I was so angry that I simply walked out and called the manager from my car. He was very nice and tried to explain this store does more business than another other store in the entire organization. I said that was nice but it does not explain how someone can place an order online for a 6:00 p.m. pickup and have to wait 35 minutes once they arrive to pick up the order. He then tried to blame the online system since they get the order only 45 minutes before the pick up time (yes, he said ONLY 45 minutes before the pick up time). How can someone walk in off the street, wait in line for 20 minutes, wait another 10 minutes for their food and be eating at a table in 30 minutes, yet someone places an order online for a scheduled pickup time, yet does not have their order 35 minutes after arriving? I love the food but the service is unacceptable.

Have never left a review until today. Cant tell you if the food is good, because they didnt make it for me... called in my 1st ever take out order of ribs and a cpl of sides. Was told 20-25 minutes.. walked in 30 minutes later and they tell me they dont have ribs ready for 17 more minutes? So?....what? They had no ribs for almost an hour?.... or did they not care about the order I made? Then they want to make it right by offering free meals... I didnt want a free meal...I wanted the meal I was told would be there and was going to pay for... that was all I wanted.. 1st experience..... good luck.

Racist and rude. Customers call black people the n word. Im never coming back. I had to wait in a long line because the white guy didnt want to wait on me. The food was greasy and terrible. They gave a white guy his food who came at least 10 minutes after me way before me. And he ordered more stuff than me. They chose to make me wait. It was a Uncle Tom black guy and Mexican who chose to make me wait an mess up my food. They should put a sign up saying WHITES ONLY. Downtown was way better. This place only caters to white people.

The people are SUPER friendly and this is honestly the best all-around bbq place Ive been to! Some people excel at just brisket or pulled pork, but we have yet to find anything under a 10! That being said, the chicken is TO. DIE. FOR! Chicken is an underappreciated meat in most cases, but not here. Seriously, the most tender, juiciest, flavorful chicken I have EVER eaten. Hands down. I also recommend the ribs. Im a rib fanatic and these are probably the top. You cant go wrong here!

The first walk in door was a overwhelming, wonderful smell of BBQ AND we thought, wow this is going to be so great. We were wrong. First we had to clean off our own table, the entire young staff was too busy socializing once they had no customers to clean the place up. Dirty tables, messy floors. Once our food was ready it looked good, smelled good and we were ready to eat...it was warm at best. Not a great first impression, probably wont be back anytime soon.

City BBQ has great food. I love the Cowbell sandwich of brisket, peppers and onions, cheese on grilled toast. The pulled pork with the vinegar bbq sauce is really good, the pulled and grilled chicken make chicken better, and the full cut brisket are heart stopping good. Home made sides and amazing desserts. The staff are a warm friendly group of folks and the food is worth the wait.

Perhaps the 4th of July was not a good time to order from City Barbeque. I had heard that the food was fabulous, but that was not my experience on that day. The ribs were fatty and tough; the fries were limp and cold; and the peach cobbler was all topping, minus the peaches! Hopefully, this was just an "off" day because of the holiday. However, I will be very slow to return.

Loved it!!!! And thats saying a lot coming from someone who grew up with my dad roasting/smoking and pulling his own pork in his cooler he made from scratch. But this place is really good. And even though you wait for them to make the food, its very expedient for lunch time. Delicious pulled pork and I love the sweet bbq sauce. WILL be back!!!! You must try this place.

Fairly tasty food. Great lunch place. It is lacking the smoke flavor I associate with true BBQ. Its obvious that this is not the type of place with a hickory fired smoker parked out back. More likely there is a large roaster in the back. But, it is good. The sauces hit the mark. Order the "More Cowbell" to get a reaction from the staff.

The food is great... when they have it! Tried going twice this week: first night they had no pork, second night they were out of my favorite two sides (corn pudding and hush puppies). I found dinner elsewhere both nights that can actually forecast and prepare appropriately. Id recommend trying it for lunch instead of dinner.

No flavor in the brisket, had to use a lot of sauce, no smoke ring, but it was tender. The brisket could have been served hotter. Not a fan of the smoked sausage, the baked beans and potato salad was not bad. Sorry, but not worth the price. I have had barbeque all up and down the East Coast, Mid-West, and back home in Texas.
