!BEWARE THE CATCH! I personally do not work for this company, i am a technician that works on woodworking machineries and travels around the United States fixing different machines i was called by this company over a year ago to go work on a machine they own which i will not state model for privacy reasons The job i was supposed to go doing was a warranty job, so i get there, and immediately they block me stating i needed to take a safety training before working In my job this is not a new thing, usual safety procedure are requested in various companies, but not here, here they took me to a room, sat me in front of a Computer, and said: "The course will take about 2 hours, followed by a test which tipically takes 20 to 30 minutes, after you pass the test, you may get in and work" At this point i had to make them notice that my visit was covered under warranty, but the time spent in the computer room taking a safety test would have been billed at normal hourly rate They got angry, but eventually agreed, but its at this point that i was caught by surprise: To take the test i had to pay $20... (YES, Twenty Dollars) that I HAD TO PAY to go fix their machine... something doesnt sound right So i called back the lady and told her i could not pay that amount and i requested a Credit Card to do it... she called her Boss, he came there furious yelling at me: "DO YOU WANNA FIX THIS MACHINE OR SHOULD WE CALL SOMEBODY ELSE?" I explained that i could not pay them to go fix the Machine, eventually it should have been the opposite... at this point they agreed to just give me a quick safety training in the office where they explained me all their safety regulations WHAT A JOKE!!! i mean: how can i perform my job, if i cant even see the inside of the Machine? As a Technician i may need to look inside the cabinet of a machine as it runs, but to them it is not allowed, they have to call one of their own technicians and i have to tell them what to do. I am sorry, but my job requires skills that are my own, and i am not about to tell someone else how to do my job. Eventually they agreed to let me work on the Machine while supervised by a group of 3 people that stood there as i was doing my job... i mean really??? Dont they have anything better to pay you for? WHO EVER MADE THESE RULES DOESNT UNDERSTAND THE MODERN MACHINERY WORLD the rules they have in place, do not make sense in any sort of way... or maybe they would make sense if the place was a daycare and there were a bunch of kids running around the factory But reality is that as a technician, it is my daily job to look inside an electrical panel while it is active, there is a reason why those panels are all managed in low voltage: there is no risk to get killed by a 24Volts controller! I am not talking about working with wires running at high voltage (110volts or over), no in here we are talking about little wires managing 12volts sensors that you can even touch with your tongue! Can you explain me how i can diagnose which sensor is damaged if i can not look at it while it is powered up? Please, tell me! Should i just look at it with my X-Rays eyes and see if the circuits inside of it are bruned? COME ON Give me a brake! Lets not mention when i actually had to go inspect the vibrations emission on the actual spindle as it was running... they looked at me like if i was from another planet! again: i am not talking about putting my hand near a spindle while it is spinning at 18000rpms with an actual profiling tool mounted, i needed to spin the spindle while empty and touch it with my indicator to read the vibrations to determin if it was a wrong sensor reading or if indeed the spindle had a bad bearing NO, they did not agree to let me do that, they wanted a new sensor and forced me to work by attempts, but guess what: the problem was not the sensor, so after i shipped one to them and they changed it, the problem was still there because the old sensor was actually good and it was the spindle that was bad, so ended up gifting them a Sensor STAY AWAY
