I did not have a pleasant experience in Domu at all. I was visiting Indy last weekend for a friends wedding and wanted to do my hair and make-up at Domu. Called in and made an appointment with Roy (hair) and somebody else for the makeup way in advance. Got a reminder for my appointments 2-days earlier and everything seemed as scheduled. However, when I arrived at the salon, I soon realized that my hair stylist was changed without my knowledge. Typically I wouldnt care about this but I was not informed at all. This left me with no options because first, I dont live in Indy and second, there was no time to get another stylist. I am sure my stylist is good at her job but she seemed less experienced with styling long and heavy hair. When I explained what I am going to wear in terms of clothes and accessories for the wedding invitation and asked for recommendations, she started to talk about how much extra Ill have to pay if she uses pins, curling iron, curls, blow-out, shampoo etc. I didnt really care much about the price, I just wanted a great hair style/up-do (whatever term they use). This behavior seemed very off-putting to me. It is possible that some customers knew exactly what style to do and using particular tool but I did not. Of course I had a rough plan but also wanted her expert recommendations. Isnt that why we go to a good salon with hair specialists and experts? The final hairstyle was very ordinary and I was not satisfied. I wasnt feeling positive about my hair do and therefore cancelled my make-up appointment. In terms of business, I feel bad about canceling it but by that time I was ready to leave.

Unfortunately my experience was a little different. Although the salon is beautiful the stylist there were not so welcoming. I especially felt a cold shoulder from the owner Micheal Haskett and the other stylist Kira.. Since those two were the only stylist there at the moment one would have thought I would have been welcomed but I was not even acknowledged. I sat in the waiting area and after 10 mins I was finally greeted by another stylist by the name of Lizzy. As I was being serviced I noticed that the other women who would enter the salon Micheal and Kira would acknowledge them and offer them beverages. I am an African American woman and I felt as though they didnt want me there nor did they have a desire to service me. I believe that my money is worth the same as my white counterparts and I should have been treated with the same respect as them. I would not recommend Domu Salon since they do not believe in treating everyone the same. It is blatantly obvious that there is a skin color issue there. I was not a pleased costumer.

I had a special event and needed to look good so I had a rinse and style with Roy. He did my hair at 8:45 in the morning and my hair looked perfect at 5pm that evening. My mom asked how on earth he got my hair to look and stay like that. She said she wanted to try him out (and my mom is the type that lives in Carmel and wont even commute to a fishers hair dresser.. So for her to drive Downtown shows how impressed she was). He really knows hair. He was giving me tips on my own hair and how to care for it and I could tell he really wanted me to look my best. I can tell he is very artistic which is what I look for in a good hair dresser. The salon is clean and beautiful yet chic. I saw kate and kira and they both were beautiful girls with amazing hair. Roy also had great hair. Nice to see a salon where the hairdressers have hair that is amazing (and trust me you dont see that in alot of indiana salons). This salon could easily be in the heart of Chicago or NYC. I highly recommend Roy

Ive had two very positive experiences with this salon. The first was a haircut with Katherine -- she was so nice and listened to my every request. She even served me a beer. I mean does it get better than that! My next experience was a color with Katherine. I was super nervous, but she talked me through each step and did an amazing job. I love the color and I love how beautiful I feel :) Ill def be returning!

I cant imagine why anyone would say that the staff at Domu is unwelcoming! Everyone is always so pleasant. The salon is well designed and tastefully decorated. You really know you are in an upscale business. They offer you tea, coffee, or wine and make you as comfortable as possible. I always feel pampered when I go there. All of the stylists are great.

I absolutely loved the way Anthony did my hair! When I got home my son told me thats the best hes ever seen my hair. Anthony was extremely knowledgable, took his time and gave my hair a lot of TLC. Hands down the best experience Ive ever had with a stylist. Thank You Anthony! Your the Best!!

Very pleased with my stylist Anthony, knowledgeable in my longer hairstyle, amiable and good with conversation, cut it right the first time and it looked stellar! Had to leave a 14 percent tip for him! Will be coming back for sure!

Im always happy with my cut and color. Staff greet you with a smile and are always friendly. The location is close to downtown and easy to get to. Couldnt ask for more!
